Suggested and called for a lot. Some problem with alternate account names, or something
Still we do occasionally get contact, such as the 5th anniversary meet in D's and Manticore dropping by here and taking a looksee. -

Why do I have the impression that I've suddenly warped into a South Park episode?
And about that Issue 16, it looks like I was being delirious. Sadly there will not be any blueberry or plum involved *sigh*
[/ QUOTE ]
That's a bad thing?
Although I hope I don't have to become Cartman sized to keep quoting and sounding like him

Miss! Miss! Alpha's swearing! He said "Bay"

So is he, but thats not the point -

I guess I have to venture in on the Gxf issue as well..
For me, I've been waiting for SOME gfx update pretty much since CoV gave us some minor updates. Those updates did refresh the game a lot imho, but any time I stand near the shop in Grandville I go nuts about the sad "shadows" that spin around when I change PoV.
While some people whine about the "badness" of a gfx update I definitely side with the "This game DESPERATELY need one" folks.
That been said: I'd give anything for more actual content as in new maps, mobs, story arcs and most of all Strike forces.
With the MA pretty much dead in the water again (although I got a new author badge today, wow) and me definitely dead tired of it, and folks still grinding it, sending out blinds when you're close to the building, content is King.
and let's face it: even with all the "Issues" this game still has VERY little story content compared to most MMOs. Not that you can really judge a game by it, but just take a look at the small impact on your poor hd. It's silly!
Well, you know you want to, so try floggin' me then...
[/ QUOTE ]
GFX update would be nice. So long as it doesnt raise the minimum level, only the maximum level.
And hey, I agree with the rest of it too.
...
Am I ill, or are you? or both?
Maybe Nemesis is not at it again -
Vix nodded to Jeanne, then did the same to the Rector.
"Just lead on. If that headcase tries to kill anyone else, then, frankly, you're more than welcome to do whatever. At least normal thugs leave people in hospital, not a morgue..." she added, with the voice of one who had seen more than her fair share of both. -
Stage one, fix the invasion code
It's far too hard for low levellers. Sure, it should be a challenge, but not to the point where you have no impact. The Zombie invasions are a perfect example of how its wrong atm.
Still, Arachnos and Longbow stuff sounds neat -
Hey, leave Burton alone
Try Bayonize, after what he did to all things Cybertronian... -

The one thing I would cut/change is the Vanguard AT. You can already make them, and, given Vangaurds diversity, it would be unfair to restrict that ( Sword/Shield scrapper, full vanguard armour) Although some unlockable powers would be nice, like [Bayonet] for Assault rifle, [Flashbang] and suchnot.
[/ QUOTE ]
True - didn't really think of that. Maybe they could introduce it as some new universal Epic Power Pools you can take instead of the regular APP/EPP. So you can make yourself more Vanguard like if you really wanted.
Kind of thinking:
* Vanguard Wizard
* Vanguard Armour
* Vanguard Claws
* Vanguard Assault
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, any sort of wizardy can be put down to origin and w/e powers people pick. As something else to use VG Merits for, being able to get a Vanguard shield/armour toggle would be nice, as would the aformentioned bayonet, nades, etc. And allowing the 'wand' option for blaster-types would be neat.
Rikti AT would get my /signed
And back details! Especially the Vanguard backplates! -

And whats wrong with Catgirl cross-breeding? - you don't want any of that Facist Pedigree nonsense ReichsCat preached. *snaps out of City of Kittenz mindset*

argh! I...cant...Art-assault! -gets chained to the drawing board- -

I really like some of the stuff that has been mentioned so far. What I would like to include:
* Tidying up of hero contacts - in that you dont have to fight through a load of missions before you get to the arc and they don't keep on sending you from one zone to another. Also you get their cell phone number earlier!
* Zone related arcs for Dark Astoria and Boomtown (as already mentioned)
* New Zones with special 'effects' on players. E.g. Moonbase where everyone gets a Jump buff because of low gravity. A jungle zone with a running speed debuff because of the thick undergrowth.
* Interactive Powers - as Evangel described, having powers that effect each other to make new effects (a bit like Oil Slick being set alight).
* New higher level story arcs using the Portal Corps/DESTINY portal. Good way to introduce new zones and some new factions.
* Two new Archtypes available to both Heroes and Villains. These would be:
- Vanguard
- Rikti
* More interesting boss fights like Romulus and Big Tony the Magic Man.
* Public Missions - expanding upon the already occuring in zone events. Randomly generated missions that occur which everyone can get involved in.

/signed love the idea but as Jeff said it could put new players off.. Well, if they've done the tutorial they'll know not to go near the purples
Like the idea's of the GM's suggested by Evangel. Also suggested something like this in the General Discussion forum on the topic "If you could create the next issue" or something to that effect.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, the purples in the tutorial do nothing but hang there. No great indication of attack power
What they should do is have a sort of 'Combat sim' section. Where a palyer is attacked by all level cons of enemy.
So, first off, a grey hits them a few times, to show that they are pretty weedy. The character is then auto-healed.
Same with green, then blue, then white conning. Yellow, orange are the same, until they hit red and purple, where it might well be that ther character gets faceplanted. Again, they get auto healed/rezzed, but its an indication of how fast your health can go down. -
Pity someone went and quoted it...

p.s. I am joking. Kind of.
[/ QUOTE ]
I really hope so. Because it's not really that amusing. -
Given this is meant to be a game, I consider treating the subject as something thats light as really rather quite offensive.
Two person emotes I like, but the rest of it really doesnt belong in a game. -

so i powerleveled her to 50 and she had a 50 within 6 hours of making her first charactor.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is the reason as to why many of us dislike MA, including me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why?
[/ QUOTE ]
Given it took me 15 months to get my first 50, earned, paid for and done the very hard way (back when debt was the ultiamte weapon), then you get players who take 6 hours and, on top of that, dont know how to play. And act like they own the place 'Omg lols i got 12 50s youse got 2 lol!1'. And with an increased side helping of rude.
However, its not particularly me, or even other long term players Im worried about (and that was never the aim of the thread). The point is that the MA isn't doing new comers any favours, either short term or long term. Short term, they miss out on the main game content. Long term there is a larger chance of them not knowing how the game works, and then struggling to do anything outside of MA. It does have a knock-on effect for when they try. In general, its just not helping.
Me, once I figure out how to recalibrate those defence satellites to hold the world to ransom, I'm sortedbut thats a secret.

Technically, you already do get badges for doing all 3 Respecs, and all the TFs. One of them is even an accolade.
Anyway, OT again. -

In the past the biggest problem has been that domination did very little for Illusion but I think that's changed now.
[/ QUOTE ]
It isn't just that, it's that Illusion has fewer powers that build domination. Mez click attack powers build domination much faster than powers in the secondary.
IMO what needs to be done is to replace one of the invisibilities with a targeted aoe click soft control/damage power. E.g. a Fear+Psi damage.

Those two things are a bit mutually exclusive, frankly

Theres a rather large difference between someone who has watched someone play the game, probably knows how it works fairly well before they even pick it up, and someone who goes online/into a shop and goes 'Ooo, City of Heroes, MMO...I'll give that a go.'
[/ QUOTE ]
She didn't, it was more like "i wanna play the game you keep ignoring me to play"
But she'd never seen me play, never watched trailers, didn't know much about it apart from i like playing it.
But seriously the point i was trying to make is, that once she hit level 50, she only knew how to move around and sit at the door. But once she was there, people spent time with her (me, my brother, my dad, my step-mum and in game friends) and taught her a few things, some she learnt by herself, and now if you team with her you'd have no idea she MA-PLed to 50.
It was just because she got the oppertunity to join in teams and make mistakes and learn from them, instead of people avioding her for only having MA badges.
If we take the combined knowledge of everyone posting in this topic, and use it to teach PLed people how to play, we could have quite a few more high level teams/TF's going on with the extra people.
[/ QUOTE ]
Two important factors. She got people willing to teach her to play, which is, yes, a good thing.
Second factor, she WANTED to learn how to play right. You try teaching some of the Farmed players around, and they do literally expect to be fed on a plateI excrete you not.

Theres a little thing that some people may not have heard of, oddly in a MMORPG;
Roleplay
[/ QUOTE ]
Because "RPG" in computer games doesn't mean "roleplaying game", it means "vaguely D&Dish mechanics like experience and levels". Sure, you _can_ roleplay in the MM ones, but there's no particular compulsion to.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, sorry, it does. Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. Even with things like Oblivion and Diablo and suchnot, its still technically a roleplaying game, as you take on the role of the chracter. Sure, people choose to play how they want, but its still an RPG. -
[ QUOTE ]
My next patch if i was working there, and i was uber clever with computers, would be
1: The ability to get Married in game: A mission available to those 30+, after completing the mission you have the option to marry another hero (who has completed it). There will then be some slight benfits if you team with this person
1.1: XP and Inf modifier allowing you to recieve 1.25 of the current inf/xp whilst teamed with that hero
1.2: The ability to set "Married To $Heroname" as the badge title
1.3: A Badge
2: New Badges to collect
2.1: Giant Monster Basher - Killing 20 GMs
2.2: True Hero - 1000 hours of play on that charactor
2.3: Going Alone - 200 hours of solo play
2.4: Backed Up - 200 hours of teaming (2+)
2.5: Fed The World - Defeating Hamindon (something in description about it being jelly)
2.6: Trailist - Completely all Trials
2.7: Undecided - Completeing the respec TF 3 times
3: A new story arc only available once reaching level 50
4: Allowing charactors to have 5 pools instead of 4
5: Increase global friends limit
[/ QUOTE ]
So, a badge update?I think the devs learned that mistake from MA, at least. Thankfully.

Theres a little thing that some people may not have heard of, oddly in a MMORPG;
Roleplay
/unsigned
If theyre low level, exp pact and then team a lot. If they are above pact level, then simply roleplay it. A call for badge and exp for something like that is...no. Just no. -
