  1. Ok, so just to make sure SR, Ice Armor and Regen all get nerfed, u posted this 3 times? :P
  2. Yeah I realised this while lvling
Getting Combat Jumping at 10, SJ at 14, and Danger Sense at 16
  3. In general, Regen is superior to SR, IMO. Others may argue that elude balances out SR, but I still think Regen wins it. There's a certain charm to always being at full health and end.
  4. Out of curiosity, with 3 recharge enhancements, will Kuji-in Rin (mez protection) be perma? Or will there be a downtime?
  5. Sounds good, shouldn't be too hard to pull a slot somewhere.
  6. Well I figured QR was better then Stam :P I don't think pool powers are "allowed" to be better then powerset versions right?
  7. Alright, a new attempt:

Things I dislike about this build:
Getting my travel power at 16. I thought long and hard about this, but I see no other way. Every power before it is critical, and delaying them would suck. So 2 more lvls walking is, I fear, the only option.
Getting my ranged +def toggle at lvl 10...I have a feeling this may hurt a bit, but on the other hand, it shouldn't be too bad. And heck, debt doesn't kick in until lvl 10 anyways
As for the enhancements in TF and ET, I'll see if I wanna give it a recharge or an end redux when I get them. At least I have the 6th slot available for it (currently assigned to rech)
    Any thoughts?
  8. Hey guys,

well I've never (seriously) rolled a stalker, but am thinking of doing it now. However, I am actually quite uncertain as to how to pick my powers and mostly enhancement slots. I would really appreciate some advice on this build:

Things I'm uncertain about: I'm slotting Bonesmasher at a very high lvl...is this a bad idea?

The 3 dam-1 acc-2 rech I have on AS, TF and ET. Is this proper slotting for a stalker? Do I need the 2 rech, or could I replace one with an end reducer.

Is stamina a must? I'm skipping caltrops and blinding powder this way, and am not sure if this is a good idea. I also am not sure if I should get smoke flash at 35, would one of the 2 above named powers be better?

Is my build up slotting reasonable or just overkill? And how about Kuji-in Sha? (my selfheal)
Any other advice would also be greatly appreciated
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Quick recovery and stamina work in different ways but with roughly the same effect overall, 1 of them speeds up the blips of endurance you get back, the other makes the blips bigger. So if you have both you get quick big blips and no end ttroubles.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is this true? I never heard of it. (altho I admit I never looked into it)
I'm supposing QR makes you recover faster, and Stam makes you recover more?
  10. Nope. The good thing about regen is it doesnt "see" damage types. It doesn't matter if you do 5 points of energy or 5 points of smashing damage, it all hits equally hard. This doesn't matter tho, because your defense isn't about preventing damage, it's about recovering from it.

NB There are ofcourse some resists in the regen set, but I think we can all agree that those aren't it's defining quality :P
  11. True, if you want slow protects, get a kin :P
  12. Hmm good point. I'd be interested to see how an /EA does against a scrapper with 3-slotted FA (tohit-slotted mind you) when he's buffed by a bubbler and/or cold corr....
  13. I'll come down to the tuesday night sessions and see if it's my kind of thing. I am nowhere near experienced enough for the wednesday sessions, plus I am busy tonight anyways :P
I think this is a good idea tho. Count me in with my Energy/Kin!
  14. Transference is a nice power, but on a foe without resists, you drain about 40% of their end bar (with 3 End Mod slots). On something with end resists (like a /dark brute), the power is fairly useless (except to recover endurance ofcourse) by itself.
My primary is energy which only has knockback has secondary effect, which is probably the least usefull in pvp, so I won't find a great deal of help there

So you think +RES buffs are best Syn? I just wonder what it would be like to have /EA brutes running about that have so many def buffs on them they only get hit by the 1 in 30 rule the game has...would be kinda impressive
  15. [ QUOTE ]
edit: a good player with /kin cud also support the team very well

    [/ QUOTE ]

How exactly would you have the kin act then? Just SB and ID like mad? Cause I've had difficulties getting decent fulcrums off since you heroes move around all the friggin time :P
Ofcourse I'm not particularly good at PvP at all, I would like to know how you'd like to see a kin act?
  16. [ QUOTE ]
For stalkers, you're better off buffing his Stealth (with Grant Invis) and damage and acc if possible (with Forge, Acc Metab, etc) if they're playing the role of Assassin. If they're going to be more Scrappery, then as much Res, Def, and +Regen as you can manage

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good point. But Kin's question can be moved to the brutes. What if a brute has +RES? Is it best to give him RES buffs to cap him (or attempt to cap him anyways) or is it better to give him +DEF buffs so he's got allround damage prevention? The same could be asked for +DEF brutes but the other way around ofcourse.
  17. Is it just me or is Zak's post a little hostile compared to a rather neutral post by Dr Death?
Ofcourse I won't be considered an objective participant in the discussion, nonetheless I don't think Dr Death was moaning about anything.
As a matter of fact, he states there are no balance issues and that it's a skill issue on the villain side. Is this not the point that you, Zak, are trying to make 24/7? I find your attitude confusing, but maybe I misinterpreted your post.
  18. I would genuinely be very interested to see how your villain team holds up against Shaman X or AoW for example. Make sure to advertise when this happens, cause I'd love to see you guys fight and be shown how it should be done.

PS I just re-read this and realise it looks horribly sarcastic, so I just want to add: It's not :P
  19. [ QUOTE ]
I advise any villains that felt hard done by to talk to Gutts and his team, they put up an excellent fight against the heroes and proved to us all that the Villain/hero divide isnt as huge as first thought.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I find it ironic that out of all teams, Max's team is selected as a good team to prove villains and heroes aren't that far apart. Max has for a long time now claimed that there IS a balance issue. So really, he's not your best pick to make this point. I've seen several of his matches as well, all of them massacres. Even if he did "okay" in some (I haven't seen those matches), there were plenty where his team simply got butchered. But this could ofcourse be completely down to bad tactics, I just don't think you'll find a lot of support from Max on this point.

    [ QUOTE ]
And to people moaning about the waiting times, I am very much looking forward to the well oiled event that you will be organising in the near future - perhaps you can stop hiding behind your keyboards and show the rest of us how its ment to be done??

    [/ QUOTE ]

Once again, positive feedback is nice and encourages people, but it doesn't really solve any problems. I DID like the event. I also think the organisation did a good job. Nonetheless, there WERE problems. Negative feedback can be interpreted as moaning and people can feel offended, or they can realise that it's not meant to offend them, it's meant to point them at areas that can be improved.
When I, for example, do an exam for my study, and I score 7 out of 10 points, I go back to the person that gave me this score. I don't do this to see what I did right, I do this to see what I did wrong, and I want the person to tell me what I did wrong. I don't want to hear from him what a good job I did. I can hardly imagine I am unique in this...
  20. [ QUOTE ]
If I decide to do another torny i hope ppl will take part, and this time i will split heros/villan apart and run them on seperate days so ppl can take part in both.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is something I would certainly like to see. Perhaps make a final league between the best villains and best heroes, although people can still participate just once this way.
About organising the matches, it shouldn't be hard to make a fairly simply Excel file ahead of the tourney. When the tourney starts you just enter team names and the file sorts out the matches for itself. This is still some work, but would mean the work during the actual tourney would be decreased to just a few minutes, even if you do take sign-ups at the start of the tourney and not in advance. Or am I missing something?
  21. [ QUOTE ]
All those taking part on the VG/SG Leader channel were involved and asked there opinion on the format changes and agreed with them, including your VG leader Toughguy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can appreciate that, but this post was personal feedback, so what Dr Death did or didn't agree to isn't really important.
Once again, I did not intend to take you guys down, I am merely giving feedback. If feedback on the downsides isn't appreciated I will just shut up. IMO however, if nobody opens his mouth about what didnt go right, things never improve.
  22. I find your post very poorly placed. Your post seems make the discussion about the violators, which it really isn't, and the moment it will be I will not continue to discuss this subject anymore. Let that be very clear.

I am going to quote myself from the very post you replied to.

    [ QUOTE ]
Nonetheless, let's say the heroes really are balanced and simply are far more skilled: even then, make the leagues suited to this. Start with villain leagues and hero leagues, because us villains lack the skill to start off against heroes, apparently. Then the best of the villains can fight the best of the heroes. IMO, this would've been more fair and most importantly, more fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I stated in my post, I personally do NOT believe the villains are equal in skill to heroes. I however don't share your beliefs that it comes down to skill alone, and I do think there is a balance issue in play as well. Regardless, even if there is no balance issue and it does come down completely to skill, the leagues should still be divided accordingly. You don't let "clumsy villains" start off against "elite heroes". I am NOT the only one that was bothered by this, I can guarantee you.

Second, the violator team you speak off, I wasn't even in. Not to say mine did any better, I still won't discuss someone else's tactics.

My post wasn't about whining how much the villains got whooped. I spent a few lines on this subject to illustrate my point. My post was meant as constructive criticism on what I feel could be done better at this event. I stated the problems I had with the organisation, and offered a suggestion as to how this could be done otherwise.
Is this really such a bad thing? Because like it or not, people spent an HOUR waiting and this was not appreciated. In the environment I come from, it's normal to give feedback if you feel something went wrong, as long as the feedback isn't detrimental. As far as I can tell, this is what I did. Your response had little to do with my post or the original subject. If you want to discuss our poor PvP tactics with us you are more then welcome to, either in a new thread or via PM, but not here. Should you do so, please avoid phrases like "slower then my grandmother" because I think it adds little to the discussion.

I hope my post was better received my Kinslayer, Emperor Dragon and whoever else might have been in the organisation who's names I missed. It's not meant to take you guys down, it's just feedback.
  23. While I appreciate Kinslayer&Co attempting to bring some community activities onto Union, I'm afraid I need to support Norton.
The whole thing was poorly organised. First of all, waiting for over an hour really isn't acceptable. Perhaps registering teams should have been done in advance of the tourney as much as possible, so you could've made the leagues a bit earlier?
Also, I thought it was a knockout tourney? Lose once and you're out? I didn't re-read this thread so maybe it was mentioned here, but it could've been repeated at the tourney itself. My team was gone by the time I heard I had another match after being humiliated the first time. Not that it mattered, because of the earlier problem (waiting an hour), one of my teammembers actually HAD to leave.

And finally, inevitably, I must comment on the hero's participating from the start. At the risk of being called a cowardly violator that doesn't fight heroes, this was just ridiculous. I have seen blasters go toe-to-toe with stalkers in melee and WIN unharmed. I am not denying the hero teams were incredibly skilled, it was truly impressive how they worked together. However a stalker losing (and losing big time) to a blaster IN MELEE? That's just unbalanced! I've seen it happen once, and heard another person seeing the same thing with a different stalker in a different match.
I have seen other unlikely incidents as well. (a blaster being fired at by 3 villains and actually keep going)

Still, this was a good initiative, and hope to see a follow-up in the future. Mistakes are made so you can learn from them
  24. That's a little overkill...try 2 kins. Double fulcrumshift and a nuke power will instantly vaporise ANY spawn...don't need 8 corrs for it
