I'd drop at least levitate
[/ QUOTE ]
Never, under any circumstances, ever consider dropping Levitate if there's even half a chance of you stepping into PvP. For a Dom, I'd drop Mesmerize first and pick up Bonesmasher ASAP. -
Not having access to HeroBuilder at work, only one thing really jumps out at me - what are the respective max ranges for Sonic Barrier, Sonic Haven, Clarity and Grant Invis? If they're all around the same range then ignore me, but if they're at varying ranges I'd try to level them out so that when you're in range for one buff, you're in range for all buffs, with extra slots either going into more EndRdx, RecRed/Range for Screech, or possibly Acc in attacks.
I think Hasten and SS is a solid choice - especially for Zonal PvP, as I expect to see a high number of Villains in RV with -Jump powers. Also very happy to see the inclusion of Sonic Cage in there.
Seeing as I'm approaching the right level with my Ill/Son, what did you make of Liquefy? I'm guessing it wasn't massively impressive, but it'd be nice to get another opinion. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, mind control is the best control set available in both games, I'd say you'll be able to have some form of control on them all the time, if nothing else then TK (Which might be worth putting 1 recharge SO in, at least the epic pool version seems to have pretty high recharge), that doesnt have a duration after all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just FYI, TK in the Mind 'troller set has about a 60 second recharge. -

I had difficulty calming myself and stopping said self from jumping out of bed
[/ QUOTE ]
There I go, quoting people out of context again.
[ QUOTE ]
Oh, and you were fairly close on the allure of your characters. I love the names "Duet" and "Interlude".

[ QUOTE ]
As a completely impractical example: I don't have a /Emp Controller, but on my Empathy Defender, three-slotted RegenA is enough that I can stand in front of my boyfriend's Ar/Dev Blaster in the Arena, let him attack full-out, and he cannot overcome my regen rate.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just to qualify this, I was using a Hastened Ignite>Slug>Ignite attack chain, which is about as high-damage as you can get for AR - the health was whittling down, but it was a damned slow process - especially when you consider that that particular chain can take normally out a Defender in 30 seconds or less. -
[ QUOTE ]
I know a few people (not many) where its best for all concerned if we just ignore the other one in battle lest it just become a very long and drawn out battle of wills and nothing very productive is achieved. Anyone else find this or is it just me?
[/ QUOTE ]
I tend to prefer those fights, generally speaking - always good to get the drop on a difficult/tricky opponent. Of course, I will move on if I end up deadlocked with someone after a long period of time and it stops being "challenging" and veers off into "dull". -
[ QUOTE ]
Would you prefer me to deny or acknowledge that?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm more concerned about why you're winking at me like that... is it contagious? o_o -
[ QUOTE ]
Well ID does protect against immobilize unlike you said
[/ QUOTE ]
Whoops, my bad - mind was elsewhere.
[ QUOTE ]
According to hero builder thaw and ID both last 60 secs.
[/ QUOTE ]
From playing with my gf who has a Rad/Therm Corruptor, Thaw always seems to last longer than ID.
[ QUOTE ]
I agree, if somebody gets slept outside the heal range you cant wake him. But compared to the complete lack of knockback protection in thaw I'm willing to accept that. (if they get attacked they wake from sleep anyhow)
[/ QUOTE ]
If they get attacked whilst slept, they may well be toast. It's personal preference, but I'd generally always take a well-played Thermal over a well-played Kineticist for a support role - though, there are a lot of awful Thermals out there, which probably isn't showcasing the set too well. -
[ QUOTE ]
PvP - Therm Rad.
[/ QUOTE ]
Depends on what kind of support I wanted - Thermal is great (mmm, Forge), but Clarity (Sonic) is the only ally buff in CoV equivalent to CM. Then again, a Thermal with Tactics could provide similar coverage (Fear, Confuse, +Per) to some degree, but you're dependent on everyone being in that radius - and there's nothing like a one-shot (90s?) fix that works all across the map.
Personally, I think Thaw should probably buffed to include Fear res at the very least, given its prevalence in PvP. -
[ QUOTE ]
What makes the mez protection better? They last equally long, and kinetics mez protection and thermal's are identical. Except kinetics doesnt protect from sleep and thermal does (but a simple heal will wake somebody from sleep anyways) and kinetics does protect from knockback while thermal's doesnt.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty sure Thaw last 90 seconds to ID's 60, and gives Res to Sleep, Slow and Immobilise, whilst ID doesn't; whilst heals will knock someone out of sleep, that's no good for a Kin if someone is slept out of the range of Transfusion. For me, the most important part of mez-protection is its ability to keep a teammate moving, which ID is worst at out of all the -status powers - even Stimulant. The +damres is nice, and the -KB is useful at times, but the duration simply isn't long enough to be able to keep those buffs applied with any consistency in difficult situations, and can generally only be applied reactively in the course of normal play. I play a number of Kineticists, but at this point I'm seriously tempted to respec into Stimulant for a more wide-reaching reactive mez-protection. -

I have that effect on ladies
[/ QUOTE ]
Reading the thread back - and without bravado - it would actually appear that I have that effect on your lady.
Or at least, mine and 'cel's toons do. -
[ QUOTE ]
I really hope you were referring to your and 'Cel's characters. As the mental images a four-person-character-love-triangle brings up are too much to bare even for me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unless GG crept in behind us, I think we're safe here.
... wouldn't that be a love-square? o_O
And *bear, not "bare", dear - seems like someone's getting a little too excited. -
[ QUOTE ]
yer m8 its like stalkers cant win, we seem to be a target for every other a/t. people want us to not use as or hide but to make things "fair" but they arent willing to drop their defences.
[/ QUOTE ]
Best advice I can give is to just let it float past you - it's really not worth bothering about, and it's not worth dropping to their level about.
In a 3 vs Me in WB yesterday, I was complained at for using Elude - sure man, as soon as you stop using Aim and Build Up, I'll not use my Aim and Build Up countermove. /e thumbsup
I could have seen his point, had I banged it straight at the start of the fight (but I never start out a fight with a timer running if I can help it), but I waited until I was in one/two shot territory before doing so - if I have time to make that decision you haven't been quick enough, and it's your turn to play mouse until I can't play the cat any longer... but he didn't, he left the zone to the sound of a concerto of tiny violins, via hospital express.
It's far more amusing to drop the people who complain about you repeatedly, than it is to pay any attention to what they're moaning about. -
[ QUOTE ]
a/s makes up for our poor defence and hp.
[/ QUOTE ]
Stalkers have the second best defensive capabilities out of all the villain ATs... -
[ QUOTE ]
You see, I think we'd win by defauly. Just because we can decide which characters are actually together.
[/ QUOTE ]
We have strength in numbers. -
[ QUOTE ]
But could you really see him with Cybercel?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, she's in league with the bats.
[ QUOTE ]
Oh! Duet (Sonic/Dev) and Interlude (Ill/Sonic) are together as well! You forgot about them!
[/ QUOTE ]
But that relationship is wholly dependant on which of Duet's personalities is dominant at the time. -
[ QUOTE ]
EDIT: And yeah, you're safe from the Blapper, since I just can't see any of my toons in a romantic relationship with an HST tribute.
[/ QUOTE ]
Too weird to live, too rare to die - what's not to love about him? -
[ QUOTE ]
*brings out his controller to deal with Blapperman*
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, my Blapper isn't "paired" with any of 'cel's toons, so you're safe there.
You'd only have to worry about... *strains memory* Claws/SR (45) & Emp/En (50), AR/Dev (50) & Ill/Rad (34), and Mind/Kin (25) & Earth/Storm (25), on Union anyway. -

Black Scorpion
- AoE immob with -fly and -jump. Useful for PvP I would imagine.
[/ QUOTE ]
IMHO the single target holds (stacked where possible) would be a better bet for PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]
-Fly/-Jump powers are far more deadly in Zonal/Arena PvP than ST Holds. -
[ QUOTE ]
Perhaps we should settle this with a duel...uh, vote?
[/ QUOTE ]
Anytime, anyplace.
(Although I'd recommend the Arena, unless you want to go about it with /e slap and /e smack.)
-
[ QUOTE ]
you dont see stalkers moaning about people using tactics to see through hide.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha oh boy.
I've lost count of the number of times I've been accused of cheating/insp-popping/etc. on my SR Scrapper when I've gone to play tag with Stalkers (Focused Senses = +Per). Not that I've got anything against Stalkers, mind you, it's just fun to toy with people who think they're safe from attack.
That said, Stalkers seem to come in one of two flavours - very nice, sporting, decent players who enjoy a good fight - or - very immature, angry, aggressive little boys who can't play the AT for toffee. Either way, I can get a large amount of satisfaction from dropping them. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh, and some toons belonging to Synaesthetix and I might have something to say about the Marvellouses claiming to be "Paragon's premiere superhero couple."
[/ QUOTE ]
Damn skippy. -
[ QUOTE ]
indeed u didwith the help of snowstorm and a bit of freezing rain
[/ QUOTE ]
And to think, I only needed Full Auto. -
[ QUOTE ]
And wait - just to be different? Spines is the flavour of the month don't cha know.
[/ QUOTE ]
... and some seed fell on stoney ground. -
Well, on the bright side - that's probably saved PFF for everyone else, and probably kept MMs from feeling the nerf bat just yet.
