Sorry, I just got logged out for the FOURTH time in an hour. It's getting a bit tiresome.
I have logged in 3 times in the last 90 minutes. I don't think I will login again today if it happens again.

  3. Those are the "fame" bubbles. You can only have 5 of them filled at a time. They each last for 20 hours and they shrink in size as the countdown approaches the 20 hours mark for each one. This is how they keep us from switching alignments any faster than every 2 days.

You will not get any new tips as long as they are full and if say 3 are full you will not be able to get more than 2 tips.
  4. There's a suggestion for this in the Suggestions forum.
  5. I have a couple 50s where I added Superspeed to them and put the Winter's Gift Slow Resistance IO in it.

For my Kheldians I take Superspeed to get the jump on voids/quants.

Other than that I just take one travel power.

I am not in either camp on this issue but I thought I should mention just because other games do something and we don't like it there doesn't mean it couldn't be done here and work well.

Which is not at all the same as saying, "I want to level up not at all" (i.e., "no XP" option).

It utterly amazes me how people will rain all over a request for an OPTION. As in, "Here's something that you don't have to use and won't get in your way at all, but it will make some other people happy." As if whatever doesn't benefit you personally somehow weakens the game.

Prior to Issue 11, I never cared one bit about being able to go back and do earlier content that I'd leveled past, and I always thought that people who asked for the ability to do such a thing were whining about nothing. But I never said anything about it on the forum because, hey, who am I to say this ability shouldn't exist? And then the devs created Issue 11 and Flashback, and I thought, "Isn't that fantastic? The devs were actually listening to all the people out there, and they created this whole new system to satisfy them! That's amazing! You go, devs! I'll probably never use the system myself (and I haven't, to this day), but I just love the fact that you've made people happy with this new thing that I myself could have cared less about!"

    Same thing for weapon customization.*

    Same thing for color customization.

    Same thing for switching moralities.

Every single time, I said, "How nice that the devs were really listening to people's wants and needs out there! Even though this doesn't benefit me in the slightest, I'm so glad the devs were listening and responded!"

And now all I'm asking for is a freakin' "shut off or clear out something that was forced on me" option, and I get reamed by a bunch of trolls who are probably scared that the devs will pull time away from the next $10 "party emote pack" to actually help me out. Nice, people. Real nice.

Here's my point. Let's say that in Issue 20, the devs add the option to shut off or clear Patrol XP. HOW DOES THAT HURT YOU? You might never use it, the same way I haven't ever used flashback or color customization, but it would be there for anyone who did want to use it, and it would make at least some people happy.

    * - Actually, I have used and enjoyed weapon customization, but I never clamored for it.
It's not that we're obtuse it's that you are creating your own problem because you refuse to use the option they gave us wtih patrol XP: to turn off xp. It's a toggle. You turn it off. You turn it on.

And as some pointed out what exactly is "normal" rate given all the changes over the years?

It doesn't hurt us if they choose to add it but I bet we could come up with thousands of unnecessary additions to the game by being stubborn and refusing to make use of things already in the game to accomplish the same goal. You listed examples like Ouroboros, color and weapon customization and swithcing morality where there was no alternative. They simply did not exist.

So you may want to reconsider who is obtuse in this debate.

If you can stomach a bad roll or many bad rolls in the long haul you will do better with the random rolls. However you will need to accept you may get a lot of worthless junk before you strike it rich.

    I do the random rolls.

I saw nothing condescending in his post you responded to. Often people inject their own personality traits when reading the posts of others because text has no "tone" or body language to accompany it except for smileys.

If I may suggest to you in the future when someone posts a at the end of a comment you may want to observe they aren't being mean in the text that comes before it.

That is correct. Initially in beta testing when they added Patrol XP there was no turn off XP option but that was added in response to people asking for a way to turn it off due to patrol XP. Why anyone would need to dial it down to the nitpicking level off just turning off patrol XP seems silly to me.

    You'll get there.

I remember I used to watch Nethergoat's posts where his "same as 0 amount" went from 10k to 50k to 100k to 500k. I used to marvel at where he was at and then I slowly crept up on him.

I am around 5 million before I decide to check myself and decide if I really want to buy it now but that took years because I didn't do the marketeer stuff I just used the knowledge of how it works to help me buy and sell.

K, that makes sense to me. So a flipper doesn't immediatly flip, but waits for demand to go up. Makes sense to me. And if they are willing to hold my item for me untill I need it I'm ok paying them a small fee for storage.
Keep in mind what I posted a flipper could do or a patient buyer/seller could also do it.

Flippers make their inf off the impatience of others.

Three plus years ago I had to be patient on every move because I didn't have more than 20 million influence among all my characters but now I have more than 7 billion so I can afford to buy/sell it NAO because my characters make enough even selling at lower prices to afford buying at higher prices.

The master flippers know when to grab things by adjusting their "lowball" bids according to these cycles.
Yep. Three plus years ago when we were discussing this the term applied was "temporal arbitrage" where we buy during the surplus low price times and sell during the drought low supply high demand times that occur naturally over the course of a week.

This led to numerous thread derailments over the technical meaning of arbitrage and much arguing completely ignoring the reality of what was being explained to people. Patient bidding/selling saves/makes inf.

Not necessarily. They could opt for tomorrow but if so I would expect an announcement about extended downtime for tomorrow's normal downtime. Though I wouldn't look for that announcement until around 3 or 4 pm PST.

I would love to have it tomorrow but I am setting my expectations for the 30th though.
  24. My reply is going to end up being a bit philosophical so I hope you will bear with me.

When one refers to the market one is either referrring to the GUI or to the actual working system that the market entails. Most of the time it is that system we refer to more than the actual GUI of the market and that is what I am going to focus on in my response.

No one can hurt the market in any form of participating in the market. For you see, the users of the market: bidders, listers, buyers and sellers, are all part of the market.

You could just as well ask if the toe hurts the body.

The only form of activity that actually would hurt the market would be actions that prevent the market from working mechanically. So if you could crash the market by your actions, then you would hurt the market.

So carry on in your market activities for there is a place for all of us: the flippers, the buy it NAO crowd, the sell it NAO crowd, etc.
