  3. Mind Control or Illusion Control/Empath Controller

    Avoid outwardly damaging or painful seeming powers (Levitate and Blind would be out) and just look at the enemy's "health" as their resistance to you peacefully putting them into a comatose state and ready for the police/Longbow to arrest and take in.

    You could also be a Buddhist monk MA/ scrapper and state that your attacks land with the least amount of lasting damage and never actually kill anyone.
  4. Are the villains just not doing this or am I looking in all the wrong places? Where would be best to look for a team to help me get the badges (which totally work for villains better than heroes) faster?

    SuperFerret, my oft-rerolled main, is something of a diplomat between humanity and other animals, so I figure he'd be an agent of Artemis or Diana or some other nature deity.
  6. Since ED came up, I just wanted to say that I never thought of putting more than three of a single type of enhancement in a single power even when it was possible for that to be helpful. So I generally shrug when I hear that mentioned.
  7. Soloing is tough, but I've gotten my Elec/Kin to 22 within a few days with some soloing and some good teams. It seems like a good combo, especially given my melee-oriented playstyle (which was good because my only really damaging power is my vet reward Sands of Mu). I'm hoping some good slotting and Siphon Power/Fulcrum Shift (and maybe Assault from the Leadership pool) can bump my damage up to a more soloable level as I get him higher.

  9. If the issue is burst damage that doesn't bother me at all. I'm a tanker at heart (with a healthy amount of love for Dominators and Masterminds too) so awesomely high damage isn't what I expect (it's nice though).

    My Mercs/Storm is currently on hold, but I may pick him up again. I like the combo on him thematically better than a defender or a corrupter.

  11. Well, I'm not at the point of having IO set yet, but my Mercs/Storm is chugging along just fine (although since he's in Praetoria, I mostly solo, which means I haven't played him very often because all my friends are bored with it and I've been doing an inordinate amount of teaming of late).
  12. Really helpful for those of us who aren't taking this exact build too. I'm running an Elec/Kin, and the Kin part helped with my slotting plans, and you may have convinced me to take Primal as my APP.

    I've already replaced Empty Clips with Dual Pistols. I like having my own attacks, and I was hoping Empty Clips was better since it's a cone. I think I might skip Snow Storm though, to free up some slots and see if I can spread them around a bit more.

    Kind of an odd question here, but how necessary is Snow Storm? I get it on every Storm character I make, but I never use it very often, mostly because it never seems to do very much for me and it eat my endurance like a hungry child. Just how skippable is it?

    • I got Snow Storm at around 68% End Redux.
    • I went with the resistance on Steaming Mist, I tend to prefer Resistance more, and it got me a bit more Global Recharge, so *YAY*
    • I got the Recharge on Freezing Rain above 90%.
    • I put two slots in Rest to save for Stamina post-i19.
    • Hasten is still one-slotted, since I've got about 95% global recharge without it, I figure I should be pretty good in that department.
    • I got a hold. Holds are good, and the set gave me more Recharge and a little bit more End Recovery
    • I also grabbed Grant Invisibility. I figure it might be fun to slap on my Bruiser or someone.

    Thugs/Storm Help

    I love both Thugs and Storm equally, and I've figured I'd combine them for my new Mastermind (especially now that I've got a concept that I'm happy with). I'm still new to IO set slotting and that's the area that I need the most help, though any suggestions on the synergy that the two sets might have is welcome as well. I've chosen sets to get as much recharge as possible, in order to allow me to have as many Tornadoes/Lightning Storms/Gang Wars out as I can at any given time.

  17. Here's another shot at it. I'm above the Soft Cap for Smash/Lethal/Energy/Negative, and almost there for Fire/Cold. I chose Leviathan Mastery for School of Sharks which gives me a ranged cone and an immob while also being thematic for the character. Maneuvers is as well, while also giving a bit of Defense to the team (not a whole lot I know, but every little bit helps).

  19. Okay, this boosts my confidence. My most recent MM is a reroll of an old Storm Defender with a military type background who kind of fell into a Bosley/Lady Blackhawk sort of role for a female friend's mostly female SG (strictly RP-wise, unfortunately he can't actually pilot a plane for them), so I thought it appropriate for him to have his own team of soldiers that he heads up.
  20. Does one slot make Fossilize a wasted power? I'll probably make use of it occasionally to stop running enemies or to just take a pest out of the equation for a bit while I deal with other threats. I could probably just trade it out for Resurgence.

    The AOE sleep could be used for when I solo (which tends to be often) and I could use it to sleep a group and leech extra regen using Rise to the Challenge. And yeah, those extra slots are pretty much to get some extra recharge, but it's not all that important since recharge isn't a big issue. The issue with getting other Def powers to put a LOTG in is that there aren't other powers I could take that I'd use that would take those (as far as I know).

    As for keeping open slots for Health/Stamina, I figure that I have enough regen and recharge that any extra that I'd be getting from them would just be icing on the cake.

    The build you suggest is interesting, and I guess I'll keep working on it. It's going to be a bit before I'm 50 on this character anyway.

    My theme is basically a kind of generic superhero powerwise. Superstrong, supertough, able to fly, etc. I'm avoiding the Villain APPs because I don't want to have to take the character all the way to Villain to get them and then have to come back to be a Hero/Vigilante.

I was planning on using Focused Accuracy for perception (I don't like having powers I don't use) but I guess I've got enough extra perception from Heightened Senses, so I messed with Finduilas's suggested build and changed the APP (per Bunny's request) to Earth Mastery (which may not fit my theme as well as Energy, but I can work it in).

    How's this then?

  22. I hear about how Mercenaries suck, but I never see any reasons why they're considered the worst primary for MMs. Is it just because they all do Lethal damage and Lethal is one of the most resisted damage types in the game? Or are there other reasons I'm not seeing?
  23. That works for me. I added the Acc/Dam/End/Rech from Mako's Bite into the extra slots in Punch and Air Superiority. And adding the three Cleaving Blows upped my Energy/Negative to 43%. Thanks again.
  24. Okay, more tinkering and playing around. I'm just over the Soft Cap with Smashing/Lethal (46.6%), in the 40's with Energy/Negative (41.7%), in the 30's with Fire/Cold (32.7%), and while my Psionic defense isn't spectacular (22.4) I've got enough Resistance that it shouldn't worry me all that much. My HP is a bit lower than it was, but I'm pretty sure I'm good with all the mitigation and regen (unless I get one-shotted). All in all I think it looks pretty playable, and most importantly I'm happy with it as is (and the extra Regen and Recovery from inherent Fitness will be welcome).

    Of course, a little bit of advice for fine tuning is always welcome, but I'm pretty sure that this will work for me.
