Perhaps an exp cap in AE is what the devs were thinking about to stop AE farmers? Get so much exp then have to wait a day or so to start earning more? It could work... as long as the caps not too high.
Sounds like a great idea to me, better than the original idea of removing exp in all honesty. If thats implemented I would go as far to say problem solved... if its not a stupidly high cap. -
I actually forgot i13 even existed it was that minor lol, other than the PvP destruction I dont even think there was anything worth mentioning in it. Most pointless issue award goes to that one
Im really glad I escaped freedumb though, virtue is like a whole other world compared to that. 2 minutes into game on virtue, i get a regular team recruiting, asking for members, which lasted more than two minutes and they didnt go to AE to farm. This is what I chose to pay for, not to run the same damn exploit over and over again.
All I worry about now if how the devs are going to deal with the revised version of the ally nerf... I cant see them really sorting the issue and not effecting regular players as well, thats simply impossible as far as i can see but if the farmers do return to the extent they were before, im gone. -
Just started on virtue and i agree its much better, i was on freedumb lol.

Quote:ok.. im on the same version lol. Sorry i had PvP mode tickedSorry for the double post. My version of Mids (database version 16.1147) shows defender nova doing 176 damage on average. I'm not sure where the 90 damage number is coming from, because my version says that even if none of the random extra damage hits then the power still does 108 damage.
My bad.
Its still 176 vs 203 corruptor damage though, which after enhances is a fair bit of damage. -

last post made me laugh, AE isnt meant for PL lol.
Learn to play the game not to farm :P
Congrats to devs on annoying these people, hopefully they will sort it permanently. -
In that case if you want a tanking scrapper, look for lots of aoe powers, since you dont have a multi target taunt, AoE attacks mean you wont have to use the pool power taunts unless you really want to.
SR and regen scrappers built properly can tank as well as any tanker ive seen in PvE, agro holding isnt an issue for tankers but thats your biggest problem with scrapper besides making sure you survive
SR is a pain to level but when you cap defence its very worth it -
I think one of the reasons jump kick is badmouthed is simply because combat jumping is so much better as a power of the same level in the same pool, where as with fly pool, hover isnt really much use once you have fly due to its speed.
Combat jumping offers defence, immob resist and jump height/speed which is easier to use than hover. Jump kick doesnt do much damage, has a knockup that isnt anything special and a bad animation. Its not that jump kick is completely useless though, as you said for masterminds its not too bad, but combat jumping is still better -
Completely agree with you wendy, however because of how it was implemented, the rest of the game suffered for it.
Thats my biggest annoyance with it. Trying to find a regular team is like trying to get blood from a stone nowadays and thats just wrong. MMORPGs are meant to be about leveling and stuff, if you want a quick fix go play a 3rd person shooter or something.
The idea behind RPG's has always been to level up and gain rewards for your time, getting that in a few hours just makes a mockery of the entire game. -
They need to fix pvp first lol
I do agree though but I prefer RF onlines version. You had a war in a certain area 3x a day, you werent forced to participate but the idea was kind of like a capture the flag thing, you had to destroy the enemies area whilst protecting your own and the first one to return enemies flag to base wins.
In RF when they won they were granted access to an area in the centre which was a mine with better resources, it was protected by a guardian so if any opposing factions tried to enter they were one hit killed lol.
If CoX had something like this it could grant a global buff to one side of the game for the next few hours until the next one runs.
Something along the lines of 'Victory of Justice' for heroes and 'Dark Domination' for villians.
Of course the buffs would be some use but not so powerful as to make a huge upset with the game. The buffs also get cancelled for the next war and the losing side of the previous war gets a small boost in damage for the next one or something. -
just a general query, but how does archery and assault rifle play with dark miasma? rain of arrows and full auto i can see been good, just no aim on assault rifle
-
Id like to see the same things people have been asking for since the game began, that is:
Sheaths
Holsters
Fur capes
More fishman type stuff
neck collars like widows have
more animal parts like paws/claws etc
More animal heads that dont look so tacky
hoodies on males and females, with hoods down not up
headsets like the arena attendants have etc
headset pieces that looks like tech based HUD's with a screen, kinda like foreshadows
NPC costume pieces unlocked from getting the defeat badge associated with it (just clothing, not faces etc)
Oh and animated hairlol

Quote:Exactly, that being said, its possible to build a damaging tank and not sacrifice much in terms of resists/defence too if you know what you are doing.the whole idea of a scranker burns me..if you dont want the values a tank gets you have a choice to be a brute or a scrapper which would be more the liking.
Fire secondary is a good example for PvE damage dealing since it has a lot of area damage powers, although you are never going to truely hit big numbers that a scrapper can hit.
The concept is frowned on a lot, and you will find almost all of the time if you try to build a scranker you will end up being bad in both tanking and damage departments since thats not how they were designed. As you can see from the above two posts, you can expect that a lot in game when you die since your expected to take hits in teams. Scrappers have a less demanding role of them and are free to deal damage where as tankers tend to have less freedom.
That being said, I have teamed with some half decent fire/fire scrankers before that didnt die after two hits, but I would never recommend one as a main tank. Ice tankers seem to do spectacularly badly in PvE unless there fully slotted out and there mainly for PvPers (or at least used to be) if you want damage though, stay away from stone primary and invul, the two best resist/defence sets and looks more into fire/shields.
As a secondary fire/super strength/energy are the biggest hitters in damage so one of those is best
Ive played just about every tank there is except electric to 50 now on union, and fire/fire was the best for aoe damage in teams, fire/energy best for single targets burst damage, and fire/ss for sustained single target damage. All of these builds lack more in defencive capabilty so expect to be called a bad tank until you get your slots in at least, its simply down to what your looking for.
The most effective tanker ive ever played on a whole though has been invul/ss, it still kicks out ok damage because of rage yet you have invuls resists, its biggest weakness is the psy hole it has but that can be (kind of) fixed with psy resist IO's anyway if it bothers you
The best thing to do if you plan on playing a scranker type charecter is to make use of both of your builds, have one thats designed for pure teaming, and one thats designed for damage. The way I worked this was make sure in the teaming build you ignore more of the single target attacks, take taunt and all your resist/defence powers and heals etc, basically making sure you can live for as long as possible. Then if your not in a situation where you need to be the main tanker, you can switch builds to the damaging one where you play more like a scrapper. Just make sure you inform the team this is what you are doing so they dont mistake you as a noob tanklol

I think the defender inherant either should behave a bit more like its corruptor counterpart, since there basically the same powers anyway red side needs to be slightly more offence, whilst defenders should be slightly more defence.
The other option is to make the powers equal and leave the inherants as they are. To close this gap would be fairly simple, just match defenders damage numbers with corruptors damage numbers.
This wouldnt unbalance corruptors since they already have scrouge to give them damage boost, defenders get more damage whilst keeping there endurence discount. This would make the gap a lot smaller, yet still give an advantage to playing one or the other.
Example of current damage gap from mids:
Nova on Defenders energy set currently deals 90 damage unslotted
Nova on Corruptor energy set currently deals 203 damage unslotted
This is a very large gap and most other archetypes can hit more than defenders version before even getting a nuke power.
Of course this is only a small example but from what I can see it applies to most sets.
The other idea I had was possibly making buffs and debuffs increase in effectiveness for defenders whilst on a team and balancing the entire set with corruptors, so you still have lower buffs and debuffs whilst solo since its the same as the corruptor version, but in a team they increase effectiveness and you always have that damage boost but no scrouge.
This would balance the two pretty well but still leave a clear difference between them. -
Quote:You sir, just recruited another player to triumphMust be a server thing. I always run my AE contact real fast cause of my OCD, and haven't seen a single person in the atlas AE building in MONTHS. Totally empty. I never heard AE spam anymore. Ok, maybe once in a blue moon. I can honestly say, in all my gloabl chat channels i'm a member of, only ONCE in... the last 6 months have i seen someone spam for an AE team. And i remember THAT because it was so weird to SEE an AE team forming in a long time.
I suppose bigger server may have more people using AE, obviously. Bigger servers also have more active PVP. That doesn't make it "popular" though.(I don't know what server your on, but mine is Triumph. No AE activity, no PvP. We are the PVE server. LOL)
That 5 in total now? lol. -
Quote:They pretty much have to nowadays since theres next to no teaming outside of it thanks to AE.So, wait, people do actually quit the game because other people can do things they in no way have to participate in?
Wow.
Thats not the only person thats left because of AE, it pretty much killed EU I found. My entire SG left within a month of its release and havent been back since. Even myself, if it doesnt get sorted properly soon i wont be staying either.
Just because farmers love it, doesnt mean the actual people wanting to play a decent regular game do. -
Quote:Agree with you 100%, if the entire issue had been thought about properly, then you wouldnt even need these patches in the first place, if it was implemented without exp, people wouldnt moan about there not being any now.I've come to the conclusion that AE has been the single worst concept ever implemented by the dev team. It has done nothing but allow rampant & continued exploits, drained development time & resources away from other projects, seriously screwed up the market, and driven a major wedge between players over the farming issue. Unfortunately, the genie can't be put back in the bottle, and we're going to be forced to deal with it for the remainder of the game.

Quote:Hey everyone,
We wanted to take a moment to address issues that have come up regarding the latest patch that has been released. We certainly understand a lot of your concerns and we want to do our best to alleviate them.
The change that has been implemented is a temporary change to combat a long standing exploit. This was a stopgap fix that we had to put out until we could come up with a more permanent solution. We certainly do not want to leave your arcs in a state where using them in non-exploitive ways results in little to no experience being gained.
Myself, pohsyb, Television, War Witch, along with everyone else here involved in the operations of Mission Architect, are doing everything we can to arrive at a solution that we can all agree on.
We currently plan to implement a solution in issue 17 or soon thereafter (and I mean actual soon and not Soon™) . We can't go into detail about what exactly is planned, but it will alleviate the current issue that many of you are having, which is finding your normal arcs are rewarding little experience.
Anyone who has a normal story arc that is drastically affected by this change should not go about overhauling your work. We are going to make sure that this upcoming fix will stop exploitive behavior within Architect while also allowing you all to be as creative as you want within the system - without extremely negative consequences.
Dr. Aeon
If this so called 'permenant fix' lets the farmers back in again, im pretty sure thats the end of my subscription of about 4 years or so total (including EU account time)
Im getting tired of devs wasting time on something that should have been thought about before AE release. My point of view on the matter is that AE shouldnt have exp at all and should just be kept to tickets and inf. Farmers can still farm, as they did pre i14 but it gets rid of the level 50 noobs who know nothing outside of atlas park/cap au diable.
These AE noobs destroy the entire point of an MMORPG by getting to 50 in a few hours and learning little else about the game. Before this idea got introduced you could get teaming elsewhere, however now all your getting is AE farm lfm in broadcast. When this patch was implemented at least they had to form a regular team again, which is actually fun instead of spamming this AE stuff over and over. City of Heroes has become City Of Farmers.
Im not anti farmer by a longshot dont get me wrong but I am anti 50-in-a-day farmer. I just wish the devs would stop wasting so much time fixing it to try keep everyone happy and just take a firm stance for once and just remove the exp completly. This way you wouldnt have to see every issue fixing the latest exploit, which I forsee happening even after issue 17 but I will be patient and wait and see.... -
I expect a lot of flames for this but I'm going to post it anyway.
After seeing what AE has done to the game and how 1-50 in a few hours has now become acceptable by a lot of players, has AE been the worst release since day one?
The concept was good, however people were still complaining about farming on the forums pre i14 so they invented a tool that lets them do it anywhere in game from level 1?
It clearly needed to be thought about more from an exploiters point of view, any form of testing for exploits would have shown up what could have been done but it got pushed out anyway, probably to stick to schedule.
Now all we see is every patch is a new AE nerf, which is taking away time from the devs doing something useful, to fix something i see as useless. It would have been a good idea if they brought it in with no exp and just tickets, that way people wouldnt have got used to the idea that farming at level 1 was acceptable and you wouldnt have half the people crying about it now because they cant miss something they never had.
Pre i14 farms were still used by a small fraction of lower level players I know that, there is still ways to farm either way, which is fine because not everyone did it and it was very much a matter of choice since you could still get a regular team fairly easily.
Now however, people are upset because they lost there 'easy mode' and a lot even try to make it look like there making 'creative' arcs that are being affected to try hide the fact they just want there farms back.
At AE release I know a lot of my friends left the game, they had enough with the devs lack of foresight that it could be used for farming, as everyone has said already this is just baffling.
Besides this the devs announced it took considerable time to make, they even had to push back the issue to make way for another issue because it took so much time to implement, something that could be better put to use with something else.
Thats not to say I wasnt tired of the SF/TF every issue train of thought but the time and resources could have been better used on something that wouldnt have taken so much more time to fix patch after patch because of this, I rank it worse than ED.
So, rant over and now I ask the question, can anyone think of a worse implemented issue than i14s mission architect? or does it stand that this is the worst single update the game has had since release? -
Quote:Lol funny but trueFirst they nerf the heck out of Pvp and now to AE. Good work devs, I hope you like all the nerd rage about you taking away all their precious exp. All the while I'll be busy playing what remains of the game.... XD
Its funny that players would prefer to be shut up in a building playing the same damn mission everyday than actually play something decent. Damn AE noobs need to learn the game and quit whining -.- -
Quote:Ok if you ever played before the AE got brought in, you would know that level 1's do go to PI but more often than not there stood there spamming lvl 1 lft for hours because people used to ignore them.Really? How is that? I can still just run one of the missions i have keptsince before the AE was around anyway. With new sliders still set it to make spawns, and still run the mission solo for my second account to level on.
So what exploit did this fix? The one where i didnt have to actually take 5 minutes and use my base teleporters to move a new character from atlas to peregrine?
Thats the way it should be. If they got a team, good for them, if not even better.
I dont see why this game should cater for the farmers who are doing nothing but destroy what was once a good game. Instead of wasting time with fixes, just remove the exp from AE full stop and increase ticket count. People will still play it at 50 for a cash source income, yet it will stop the level 1s asking for a quick fix plus it will also take away some of the old skool farmers because they only did it for cash and recipes anyway since there 50.
If they implement it some will go to AE instead for cash just because its easier, in this case, farming isnt so bad.
When you get level 50s asking you what talos island is and how to get there, thats bad and thats why this change was brought in. -
Quote:The AE xp change made me unsub.
So. Yeah.
(Though, to be fair, it was more Dr. Aeon's explanation of things that did it. Sometimes you're better off not knowing)
this made me laugh, without farming people leave? good riddance.
No the nerf didnt go far enough, exp needs to go completely from AE and make it a ticket/cash thing only. You still have people exploitibg it and the more the devs waste time sorting it, the more time being wasted on something decent.
AE destroyed a decent game and now because people got used to farming in a few hours to 50 there throwing a tantrum. Its funny some players have never done anything other than jellybeans pre nerf, now there forced to learn to play the damn game.
great change, we need more like it. -
Quote:http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71_2.html
This should be the latest driver released by Nvidia for the Geforce4 MX /GO series. version 93.71
thats the one im using now, however i did just reinstall it just in case it was corrupted and details do display on dxdiag now, but the bugs still there.
also nvidea control panel is set to application controlled settings so no issue there -
Quote:you need to go to the nvidia site. choose the drivers for your specific card, hit download, then save to desktop. after it is finished, remove the old/corrupt video drivers, then restart your comp and run the new drivers that were saved to your desktop. you should have an uncorrupted driver then and be able to see the colors.
edit: you WILL NOT be able to change the video card yourself. DO NOT attempt this.
The old drivers are no longer listed on the site as there toshiba only, and toshiba only did 3 drivers for it then stopped.
Besides that the first post I made here was with the old drivers on so it doesnt fix the issue.
