  1. I agree with an earlier post in the thread, the backpack doesn't appear to work with buttons or anything, yet can be controlled. This would suggest that it works by being hooked up as an extension of your own body so it can be controlled with the user's mind. So taking it off is probably some complicated surgery.
  2. I've stopped playing my Sonic/Sonic defender because the idea of re-rolling him as a corruptor makes me happy.

I've gone through my character list, purging all the characters I didn't consider that fun or important to me anymore. I used the slots that were freed up to make placeholder characters for my praetorians (the counterparts to the eight or so characters I have left), so I know I'll have the slots when the time comes.
I've been playing with costumes and power colouring and such so that while it could all change once I get playing GR (I don't know that much about it yet), I have a general idea about their personalities and where their morals lie.

I've also stopped playing my undercover longbow agent/night widow because I don't want to advance her when I know in a few months I could be earning experience and giving her a more heroic status. Maybe even a true spy status if that's a type of feature they include.

Regardless, I am excited, and really quite ready for whatever further teasing they have for us.

    Oh wow.
Five years playing and I've never noticed that was a button. Much thanks!
  4. I've always thought that we should get some kinda button to bring up the salvage needed for a recipe so we can bid on it. Admittedly, I have no issues whatsoever with typing each one into the search field with 'salvage' selected right now, but the shortcut would be a nice touch.

Oh, and on the other part; this would be best fit into Suggestions and Ideas. It's in the "For Fun!" section under the "City Life" forum. It's often missed, but the fact you asked without blindly posting means you're let off.

While I can sorta see what you mean, making your customers pay extra for something, and then giving everyone something better for free isn't exactly the greatest business decision.

Edit time!: or do you mean the next expansion? I suppose I shouldn't have a pick if I don't fully understand what I'm picking at.
  6. Just thought I'd pop in; I myself, have no issue with drive-by buffing. Hell, I do it myself. I can understand why some people would dislike it for some of the reasons in this thread, and if asked not to do so politely (as some in this thread have said they do) then I would humbly apologise and be on my merry way.

However, I do think that this "You should ask everyone. All the time." mentality is a bit much to ask. Considering (at a guess) at least 90% of players actually appreciate and enjoy the buffs, I'm not going to stop and ask each person if they'd like a SB/AM/IR or any shields I have to offer. I'm just gonna buff 'em. But as I said, I am more than happy if asked politely not to. So I'm genuinely grateful of those that do and appreciate their thoughts.

Regardless, I do agree that the ability to remove any external buffs manually would really be a great QoL feature, and should really be looked into.
  7. While I agree that we did jump to a conclusion, I do not feel that we can be blamed for doing so. I mean, we've been told we can join the resistance, and then we're shown a member of them, in what appears to be a full uniform.

I think that it's going to dig away immersion-wise if we can join the resistance but are then denied access to their armoury.

P.S. If we absolutely can't have the glowy, but some form of resistance uniform would be an option, I'd give you love-squeezings forever and stuff. xx

Mr Nakayama's comment has got me all excited and buzzy. Certainly sounds like we're gonna be getting more stuff that makes me giggle to myself. Saying that, they could probably show me a picture of a desk in a Praetorian office and I'd get a bit excited. Ideally, I'd love more teaser screenies like this one. Even better if they're not so obvious and we have to think. A bit like when they released the i11 Ouroboros wallpaper. That drove me mad.

What would you guys love to see?

You must understand that some of us think that spending hours in the costume creator makes the game worth paying for.

Lots of my toons have upwards of 73 free tailor sessions I really doubt adding more costumes is going to make me more inclined to make more costumes.
I realize its not done yet but it looks to me as if there is nothing much to do in that passage way it will be just another place you superspeed through and take no notice of.
    Speak for yourself, mister.
Costumes are a huge bit of this game for me. As is that fancy-pants tunnel. I won't be superspeeding past it unless my team's growing truly impatient of me, and I will almost definitely be [walk]ing along in my resistance uniform, enjoying the scenery, and just becoming overwhelmed with awesome before passing out or something. Bit like GG's computer with badassery.
All my characters often get their second costume at 20, because I cave in and fork over some halloween salvage by level 10 or so.
  11. I'd looooove for the old Praetorian Arcs to get their well-deserved update. I mean, the enemy models and maps are probably being made for the expansion anyway, there's no reason not to stick them over the old missions and comb through the mission text. While we think it's a good idea because we like the shines and such, this is a good idea to use as a teaser.

"Hey, new kid. You like these arcs? Don't you wanna buy the expansion to go more in depth? I thought so."

    Beta Yet?

I'm eager as hell, but I'm not really expecting anything until mid-february at the earliest. If I was on the dev team, I'd be regretting letting people say 'early 2010'; it's driving us mad.

While I too would love for this, Going Rogue has been advertised as an expansion that will require Coh or CoV. Whereas CoV was advertised as this odd 'expanshalone' thing. As I say though, would certainly be nice.

-I want to be able to choose any AT at character creation when creating a Rogue with the exception of Hero and Villain Epic AT's. I would like to see one or two new Going Rogue exclusive AT... Spy AT's that can go anywhere in the COH universe regardless of their alignment. No one knows exactly whose side a spy is on anyway.
Can we just clear it up that Praetorian =/= Rogue? A praetorian will be a new, neutral (at least at first) character that starts in Praetoria, and can be any of the ten base ATs. A rogue is an ex-villain in the grey moral-ground. Once again I agree with you. What I do not agree on however, is the idea of a spy AT. Why should a spy be limited to the same primary/secondary structure as other ATs? Why can't my Grav/kin controller be a spy? While I do think the idea of spies and working undercover should definitely be involved, I think it should be a method of flavouring a regular character rather than a seperate AT.

-Alignment changing missions should only be available on Praetorian Earth. Anyone who doesn't buy the expansion has no access to them. When [Praetorians] from Praetorian Earth come to our earth, IE Paragon City or Rogue Isles, they are restricted to whatever side is most appropriate for their alignment when they crossed over. Alternately existing Heroes and Villains should have to go to Praetorian Earth to change their alignment.
I pretty much agree with this, while keeping in mind that rogues/vigilantes will have access to either side, so Praetorians with similar alignments should get the same privileges. While I think that lots of morality-missions should take place in Praetoria (god, what an ethical mess), I don't see why they can't add some morality-missions to Paragon or the Isles. Of course, they should be restricted to those that buy the expansion, but they may as well stick some around.

    Quote:
-I hope the zones in Praetorian Earth are more than just revamped copies of existing zones. I know it's a parallel world but is it too much to ask for a little originality.
Definitely. From what I've heard, it's confirmed. Also, I'm not sure, but I don't think the place we'll be visiting is the praetorian version of Paragon City. I think it's a different city entirely.

    Quote:
-While on Praetorian Earth your alignment should only be known by you. Heroes and Villains can team together but there should be no way to tell whose a hero and whose a villain unless you state it yourself, and even then you could lie and they'll never know. Missions designed to be heroic can be sabotaged so the alignment shift toward heroic is less than what it should have been, and the one who sabotaged the mission will have an alignment shift toward villain. Same for villain missions.
I can see where you're heading with it, and it isn't bad. It just isn't something I'd like or expect. Only personal taste, though.

    Overall, some nice suggestions.
  14. For most of my characters, it's when I do something that really, really suits them. Like my Ghost Widow-obsessed fortunata doing the Seer Marino arc. While there were a few changes to the storyline I made in my head, my fortunata was getting excited at the idea of being involved. Similarly, when my Longbow spy Night Widow got her Longbow costume. Then she was real.

My main however, was a quick mock-up when issue 11 hit the test server. I wanted to try out DB/WP, and I wanted them to be Ouroboros-themed. I played this guy on test more than I played on live, as he was my first character that I felt had any meaning; not just an AT with a name and costume. When issue 11 came to the live servers, I realised that I wasn't happy about it. This would mean leaving 'Storm Survivor', my new DB/WP scrapper on the test server, to return to my dull characters.

The solution was simple; remake him on live, and take on the persona of my new main.

I thought this too, but I thought it an alternative if the idea was plausible, but people sending in their own adverts was not.

I hadn't considered this, either. While there are surely ways of getting on, I can see why this could raise itself as an issue.

This was my immediate thought. If your average SG can mantain a teleporter to the Shadow Shard, why on earth would Portal Corp need to keep a huge and noisy teleporter running? While Cimerora may not be as complex (as time travel's more common in-game), I imagine it would raise some complications with your average base teleporter.

Cimerora being added to the SG's personal Pillar of Ice and Flame could be a different matter, however.
  17. My apologies if this is a common request; my searching found nothing.

As the real-world advertisements feature fell on its face shortly after being put into the game, I see here a feature being wasted.

I think that with all the real great arcs out there, the real-world advert system should be used to advertise custom-made AE arcs, complete with picture, title, and arc ID for easy findings. Perhaps with the AE logo watermarked in the corner for realism or something. Whether it was something that was made by a staff member of NCNC that was limited to Dev's Choice Arcs only, or if it was a feature where we, the players, could make and send in our adverts to be 'chosen', I would love to see these billboards put to better use.

The idea of flying through the city, seeing an interesting picture, and noting down the arc ID to try out later really makes me quite excited, so to see something like it being implemented would be just dandy.
  18. Ooh, I like this thread.

I've got a brother/sister pair. They grew up learning about crime and punishment as their father was a police chief. The brother followed in his footsteps and joined the PPD, while his sister joined Longbow as they can use less 'discrete' methods. They fall out a bit.

The brother of the two is in the same sg as my main, so those two know eachother as colleagues.

Also, my main works undercover as an Arachnos Agent (a different character), so those're connected. Other than that though, my characters don't really know much of one another.

Of course, this is going to be turned upside-down and inside-out once GR hits and their Praetorian counterparts come out to play.

While it wasn't directly stated by anyone with the authority to do so, this time period included the release of Champions Online, which was the most anticipated competition at the time. However, I found nothing that confusing about the original loyalty program announcement and assumed that Beta dates would be announced later, but it's understandable that not everyone would interpret it differently.

Regardless, I for one am dead excited about beta. I've got some character slots reserved for my characters' praetorian counterparts so I know I'll have space for them, and I'm nowhere near as active as I was a while ago. Anticipation.
  21. I'd reeeeally like this too. I came to realise the other day that the reason I can't get my elec/pain corruptor off of the ground is because in my head she is a villainous pain/elec defender. I don't really see why they shouldn't be proliferated with GR, but hey, fingers crossed.
  22. Well, don't I feel stupid? Cheers, Agg.
  23. Howdy! I've been considering making a chibi-esque plushie of my adorable Laxley. However, I've very little experience with plushies. I didn't really know where else to ask, so thought I'd have a go here. Does anyone have any advice for shaping the plushie, or where to start? Anything at all would be appreciated. Thanks.
  24. I too, prefer not to use speed boost. Besides the "lol it boosts speed", I haven't noticed an actual difference in my speed. I'd imagine this is because we're actually falling down the slope.

Admittedly, I'm having trouble grabbing those last few seconds on my villain, but my hero got the badges with just combat jumping last year. I'm using ninja run this year, as I find the air control juuuust lovely.

Edit: Also, it may be obvious, but do try to avoid the sides. They're the biggest factor in my slowdown, as falling uphill is difficult at best.
  25. Have they been known to do that? I think today sounds right too, but my hopes dropped a bit when it wasn't flipped with the patch. :/
