Ok, I just checked. I have:
Character Texture Quality: Very High
Character Detail 100%
I just adjusted Character Detail to 200%. Although 200% makes about as much sense to me as having 200% of a glass of water, I'll go with it and see how it looks.
Did something change which would have changed these settings, or changed the world such that a higher setting is necessary? -
For the past couple months (at least) I've noticed an issue with graphics. The character detail deteriorates quickly from a short distance. I've taken several screenshots. In each example, the left side is where the clothing is transparent, and the right side it returns to normal when I get a little closer.
My character detail is at MAX, and I've not changed any settings for years. But it behaves as if my detail settings are very low.
Anyone else see this in game? I've asked some people online while I see it, and they see it as well. I wanted to verify with more people.
I've gone to support with this, but kinda got the canned answer (go into safe mode, etc.).
Here are my shots:

It seems to happen on tight fitting clothing, and will occur on tight knee high or thigh high boots as well. -
I don't have Chrome running, but might have Firefox running. I'll try not having anything running, and maybe even disabling a bunch of other Windows stuff which shows up in the task manager, and see what it does.

I've been having the same issue as well, but only for the past couple months. I now crash a couple times/night. The system will just freeze, then crash. I'll try to get a screenshot of the error window next time, but it looks memory related.
I have WinXP, 32 bit, 4G memory. Prior to a couple months ago, CoH would NEVER crash. I've been using this system since 2009 and have had no issues.
Has something significant occurred in the code over the past couple months?
I'd be happy to post any diags or log entries, but not sure where to get that info.
Any help would be great.
Thanks! -
I have a 30 Mastermind, and trying to get the Whip Cracker badge. I found a link indicating which Tip missions give the badge:
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Desdemona
I didn't have any of those tip missions, but met someone who did. So we teamed and did the "Seeds of Destruction". But after completing the mission, the badge I got was "Tested The Water".
Is there something else I need to do? When selecting the tip mission, I think he selected Rogue. Perhaps we should have selected Villain?
Thanks! -
I saw someone using the /e hmmm emote, which made him stare off into space "thinking", indefinitely (or until he moved to disrupt it). But when I try it, it lasts about 3 seconds, then resets, starting over and over. Looks kinda silly when it keeps resetting. Why would it be different for me than him?
-
I'm not sure how long this has been broke, but I can't seem to access my "Whip Cracker" badge. It was 1178, and I used to be able to do:
/settitle 1178
My other badges still work, but not this one. If I go to my badge list via navigation, I can select it. But I have binds which do costume changes and set the badge/title at same time. Does someone have a new/current list of what they currently are? The one I've been using is:
http://cit.cohtitan.com/badges/list/Defeats/
Which has old values (at least for Whip Cracker).
Thanks! -
Thanks for the great info!
I have one last question though. I was talking to someone about my new system and he said I should have 3 DDR3 memory modules to take advantage of "interleaving". I've not been able to find much on this, and I've not seen it mentioned in the motherboard documentation.
Does anyone know what this is about, and if it is relevant to my motherboard/memory ?
Motherboard:

Memory:

Ok, I had some good help. Thanks FatherXmas!
I'm currently noodling on a motherboard though. This is the one:
ASUS Striker II Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131274
I'm having problems finding recommended/affordable memory though. I'd like to get 4G. The manufacturer recommends:
ddr3
1333 mhz
4x kingston kvr1333d3n8/1g
4x corsair cm3x1024-1333c9dhx
2x micron mt16jtf25664ay-1g4byes
1066 mhz
4x micron mt8jtf12864ay-1g1bzes
4x samsung m378b2873cz0-cg8
2x samsung m378b5673cz0-cf8
4x samsung m391b2873cz0-cf8
2x samsung m391b5673cz0-cf8
But I'm not having much luck finding that specifically at a reasonable price.
If anyone has some ideas, vendors, etc., that would be great.
Thanks! -
I'm in the process of putting together a new PC mainly for CoH. I only use Windows for CoH, so it can be pretty specifically designed for CoH. I don't want the most ultimate latest/greatest super quad triple over-turbo 16 TeraHerz processor system, since I have a budget.
I'm looking for the current/best "bang for the buck curve" system.
I prefer NVidia for video, but that's about my only preference. My current PC has a TV Tuner card, so I'd like to find something which would be compatible with the newer TV Tuner cards out there since I'll probably be getting a new one of those, too. I'm using WinXP, so no need for any Vista nightmare solutions.
Any ideas/help would be great.
Thanks!

Ok..ok. They're breaking into a tree instead. Don't try too hard to twist this one!

Hey, what if they had a CoH/CoV Saturday morning half hour cartoon? It might be fun, it would advertise, and viewers might pick up some things they don't already know. Maybe hints about how things work, etc.
As far as MySpace, it's usualy pretty evil. Most pages bring my browser to its knees and I regret visiting. A lot of people/entities on MySpace think the more loud/busy/animated a page is, the better.
There's a site which is kinda like myspace, but for gamers:

Am I the only one who doesn't think Cookie Girl is really that attractive? She's average at best. What is so attractive about her to you guys? Even the outfit is pretty boring. But, I've obviously missed something here... ?

This guy was on Freedom last night. I didn't think it was possible to make a guy this big:

Is there a website where we can put screenshots of our avatars, as well as profiles, descriptions, etc? I thought I saw something that looked like myspace.com for avatars, but I can't seem to find it.
