  1. Depends on what you see as being altitis.

I see it as never staying on one character for very long before coming up with the concept for and creating a new one. In this scenario, you never get much above lvl 35 or so before mothballing the character and starting another one. And in that situation you're never going to complete enough arcs for enough merits to get the recipes you use.

Frankly, that describes me at the moment, but I'm happy that SO's give me enough strength in my characters that I'm not really that bothered about IOs or Merits anyway.
  2. I think perhaps that a fantasy world is generally seen as existing within a medieval one. In other words, you could take a medieval setting, and would only need to add wizards, orcs and goblins for it to be seen as a fantasy setting.

Perhaps the former is close enough to the latter to make people feel nauseous when it is suggested?
  3. Don't want tradeable merits. Why? Because then the price of them would sky rocket as well making the system completely and utterly pointless.
  4. Cimemora works because there is the Superhero "theme" prevalent in Roman and Greek mythology. That simply doesn't fit in a generic medieval / fantasy world. And I don't think it should be shoe horned and bent around so that it does.

*edit* Yes, yes I know, in essence the Heros in the fantasy world are just the same as the spandex clad ones, but as I've said elsewhere, I prefer to keep our version seperate to maintain our individuality and keep us different to the masses. Part of CoHs charm is it's uniqueness; the fact that it isn't anything to do with the fantasy genre, which has been done to death. I prefer to keep it that way

Honestly, why shoot down an idea that would not affect you -at all- if it was in the game, yet would make others happy?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because I don't have to agree with every suggestion made, whether it affects me or not. If I don't like the idea of something, I will say so and why.

Given that dev time is limited, and this is a "Suggestions" thread, if they are going to use it as a platform from which to allocate that time, then I am going to put my backing over something I would like to see in the game and disagree with something I wouldn't.

    See how it works?

    Hover buffed

iirc.. at level 50 Fly caps at around 55mph, SJ at around 80 and SS at about 100.

If I take SS on a character I tend to find CJ and Hurdle get around the vertical movement barriers - and failing that the GvE jump pack.

    OT.. Hover speed boost *woo*

Thing is, it's fairly easy to do with a macro or binds.

    /macro lft, "t $target, Hi, any room for level $level $archetype?"

/macro lfm, "t $target, Hi, want to join level $level ish team for missions?"

    Search. Click. Spam.

    Not rocket science.
  7. And it'd still be generic and [censored]

I'm with Scarlet on the whole Medieval Zone thing - too close to the same old generic MMO rubbish. We're unique, I'd personally like to stay that way.

What's nice about Cimemora is that it still retains that CoX "feel" by sticking with a specific period in history, rather than a medieval one which would be dangerously close to the generic fantasy one (imo at least)

However, I do like the idea of Tsoo GM and it being a Dragon Spirit or similar.

It's a shame we don't see much of Dead Calm anymore, I'm sure he'd have lots of ideas about giant, laser eyed, fez-wearing dinosaurs
  10. Assuming, of course any of the closed beta testers are regular posters on the forum
  11. My "main" brute is Stone / Fire and is the most fun I've had on a brute in ages. Consume nicely deals with the end problem, hasten and a full set of Kinetic Crash IOs in hurl boulder help with SMs slow recharge. Damage is insane, there's lots of noise, but the squisyness of firey aura can be a bit of a problem at times (although with all those recharge bonuses Healing Flames is usually up fairly quickly).

Playing him really gives a feeling of "Rage Incarnate".

Interstingly I did consider doing a "Son of Volkanik" and making him SM / Lec, for all of the reasons you mention. Think I'll be giving that another look
  12. One combination I'd recommend is Stone Melee/ WP.

With Stone Melee you get all the audio as well as the visual of SMASH - more fun and as much (if not more, don't know the exact numbers) damage as SS.
  13. Slightly OT, I've always wondered why you have an "Arachnos" and "Non Arachnos" starting option, but your patrons are all Arachnos lakeys. I'd like to see some "Non Arachnos" patrons too, with some of the nicer powers from the EPPs thrown in there (tho I realise these would need to be balanced against the existing PPPs)

Hmm, should anyone wish to Request Artishness, Im looking at doing some. Need something to get me on the roll again, rather than in a rut. Should be doing some for my SG as well, anyone else out there?
(Will post when some are done anyway)

Since all attacks build the same amount of Fury per use, Brawl is actually good for that purpose, due to being quick-recharging. I don't know about other Brute players, but I usually choose to replace it with either Boxing or the minor damage melee attack at later levels, though.

You do have a point with low levels, though. As a lowbie Brute, I strongly advise you to ignore Damage slotting for now and let Fury take care of that, and to focus on Accuracy and Endurance Reduction. Brutes really start rolling once they get to the point where they can go from spawn to spawn without rest breaks. Swift helps for keeping Fury up between spawns (by getting to them faster), and most Brutes will want Stamina anyway, to keep going without pausing. A Brute's playstyle revolves around its Fury bar; I may be blowing this out of proportion due to being a Brute-lover, but you really get the most out of them when you start to see the red mist of berserking rage in front of your eyes that your character would be seeing.

You should start feeling more like an unstoppable powerhouse by SOs at the latest. Brutes don't take long to turn into steamrollers - I recommend converting most of your insps into blues just so you can keep your Fury up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ^^ Completely and totally... This
  17. Not going to quote the whole post Tech, but essentially..

    ^^This

Villain side ESPECIALLY for brutes (and probably for dominators too) levelling simply by street hunting is so much faster than missions. The groups tend to be larger and a little easier to find so you can keep fury / domination up a whole lot easier. Level 5 in about 20-30 minutes, off to PO 3 paper mishes mayhem mish (which of course were DESIGNED for a brute ) bosh.. jetpack.

*edit*.. not sure why we seem to be seeing more suggestions where people want stuff but by playing the game less. Imagine if these ideas were implemented; we'd then be getting threads whining saying "I got so much stuff before lvl 5, now I'm lvl 20 and it's just the same old grind"
  18. I like the idea, although I agree I can see a lot of people will hate it. Interestingly though, as well as travel powers and superheroes belonging together, so does a story revolving around said heroes losing some or all of their powers.

    Ultimately though, /signed.
  19. That could just have easily been David Dimbleby too you know..

It's the sets that are expensive.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yet they are so easy to come by

People are impatient, if they have influence they'll keep raising their price until they get it. Its what i do, if i want it . . . i get it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Precisely why they are so expensive. So people farm to increase their wealth to afford these expensive recipes, which enable them to go even higher when they're bidding for something, and thus the spiral goes.

Let's not forget too that it's not only the recipes that are expensive. Alchemical Silver for example, which is one of the two items required for a lvl 35 Accuracy standard IO sells at around 30 - 40k. Five attack powers, two accs in each, you're looking at 4 mill just for that one component for STANDARD IOs.

Factor that in with the horrendous lag that I usually experience when trying to buy or sell anything in WW tends to make me avoid it.

    50+ mil, NO TY.

I've mostly given up with IOs for precisely this reason. It's perfectly playable with SOs, and apart from a few, what I consider to be "essentials" (KB Prots on a fire tank for eg), I steer clear of Inventions for the most part.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Sure villain side I can get a character to level 10 in one evenings play, but hero side it take me 2 or 3 nights. Only ever gotten 2 heroes past 14 before they became to boring to play.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like I said, not that long. Personally I think there are aspects of a characters development that should take a bit of time, mainly because this is an MMO, and therefore it would completely negate the point of playing if you get everything from day 1 (see Capes)

And as you yourself have said you can get temporary travel powers at level 5 anyway, so why is there the need to reorganise the travel power pools?
  24. Yup me and ol' stripey will be there again
  25. Anything easy mode?

    No thanks.

Also it doesn't take that long to get to level 14 anyway, so not really necessary.
