    Homosexuals and lesbians! Blimey.
  3. From an unbiased outsider's point of view, I saw the thread as a case of wanting to know who wasn't taking part, so that the OP (and others interested) could see who and whose characters would not be involved, and then OK to RP with as conflicting plot-related 'evidence' wouldn't be an issue.

    Run-on sentence, sorry.

I think it is something you have to just accept in writing. You will never write an original story. Somebody somewhere will have come up with it before.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But somebody has to have come up with the original - who's to say I, you, that bloke over there isn't going to be the first one?

Imagination isn't finite, so there are thousands upon thousands of opportunities to write an original story.

As for why I've not written in a while: I burnt myself out during NaNoWriMo, and I'm determined to edit that and get it all done before I let myself start another story and end up forgetting it.
  6. As Weasel :

Rchrg/endrx usually works better as you're getting more bang for your buck, especially if you've just been Sapped.

Energy and Power Punch I really don't like either; but I am thinking of fitting Burst back in.

Don't just rely on primary/secondary though; people seeing an NRG blapper coming always know what to expect as it was FotM sometime ago; mix and match a few powers and see what YOU like; I know a few who love Stun for instance.

(and the amount of times I've been AS'd on the boat is silly*).

    * A silly amount of times**, not a silly feature/tactic/anything else that someone will misinterpret.

** As in, a large number.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Cant say there was really any danger of anyone misinterpreting the word "silly" in this context.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Got to be cautious .

Running into a safe zone packed with PvE mobs and Drones is just immensely cheap

    [/ QUOTE ]

At least you're not under the delusion that PvPers are worth anything .

Seriously, though, Warburg seems to be the worst zone for base hogging - as everything out of that area is dangerous as hell (and the amount of times I've been AS'd on the boat is silly*). Sometimes it's fun to tease the other heroes by running in and out of the safe zone - especially when they finally get fed up, move on, and you can stab them in the back.

  11. [ QUOTE ]
I find that WB just gets really tiresome after a while, with just about everyone either running back to the ship or hiding in the helicopter, or inadvertently dipping into the safe zone whilst chasing one of the former. I've been in there countless times when Scrappers (and some Inv Tanks) alike have refused to come out and play until their Tier 9 has recharged; it also sets the stage very nicely for kamikaze Blasters to come out and urinate all over any decent PvP that might actually be taking place.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And those are exactly the reasons why I love the beach. Running away is a viable tactic!

    And well done, Raven .
  12. Just to clarify, do you mean you can set up your own macros for them? Such as you can with basic MM pets?

    Because that's pretty nifty.

Uhm, no, that's not what I said at all.

There are two camps when it comes to Heavies: those who think they're overpowered and pointless, and those who don't. I don't think it has anything to do with whether or not someone has played an MM before coming across one; as I can say for certain that one of the people involved in this debate has played an MM for many levels, successfully.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well if you've played a MM why do you problems controlling it?

Hell you only have to control one pet as well, I can manage 5 with a few keybinds and I still have to single debuff mobs myself.

You were saying they're bad because they're so dumb, I was jsut pointing out if you have a MM like control over them then they're only as dumb as you want them to be :/ If they were like all other pets that had no controls then i'd be inclined to agree with you.

Esit: as for them being Slow., Well as an MM I gotta fight at a slow pace, so that suits me fine!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't say they were "bad because they're so dumb", I said the AI is not good - at least with MM pets, as you say, you can set up keybinds. My opinion on Heavies is that they're a nice little addition, but I don't see them being either a hinderance on the zone or an advantage.

For the record, the person who's played an MM successfully for many levels is not me.

The AI on them is not perfect, it's not even good [...]

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually it's nonexistent -- they only do what their owner commands them to do, just like Mastermind pets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's still some AI involved, as on the odd occasion they'll randomly attack something that wasn't attacking it/you, and you'll be in trouble. Though, that'd probably down to setting it to aggressive, so that'd be the nonexistant AI again...

    ...hrm.

    Screenies?

This is one of my favourites. Like a moth to the flame... or, more appropriately, a bat to a low flying aircraft warning light.
  17. On Heavies (as that is what this thread's all about, really): I think they're a fun little addition which serve very little purpose. If they worked in the same way Shivans do, I could see them being overpowered in PvE, but never in PvP. At the moment, all I see Heavies as useful for is keeping the NPC mobs off your back when you're trying to engage in PvP; or helping you take down turrets.

For support characters without a team, they're wonderful.
For damage characters without a team, they're fine.
For damage or support characters with a team, they're totally useless.

The AI on them is not perfect, it's not even good - it's incredibly easy to lose the thing when running to/from a fight, and I don't know about anyone else, but it takes me at least three tries to get the thing to attack the correct target. Or even, in fact, attack at all.

Personally, I think RV would work brilliantly without them, but I don't see that with them, RV isn't a decent PvP zone (blegh, please re-arrange sentence to make sense). I can see the argument that with Heavies, people aren't encouraged to team as they can be used effectively in PvP. I've seen it done. However, I can also see the other side, in that Heavies aren't overpowered.

I'm pretty much setting up shop on the bench.

As for the PvP as a whole discussion: you lot are never going to agree. Face it.
  18. That's pretty much it, yes.

And Syn, I'm not here to save anyone. I don't actually agree with what Weasel's saying - but neither do I agree with the opposition.
  19. I was attempting to de-flame the situation.

If someone posted a thread about creating a Scrapper and taking the worst possible powers, and someone responded with "that's silly", I don't much see how that could be considered constructive criticism. So, yes, if I had to, I'd probably point that out.

Giving reasons why someone should try X = good.
Telling people not doing X is silly = not good.

As Blind Minotaur said, you don't have to like it, but you don't have a right to call the idea "silly".

    it's Hammerfall's choice.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uh huh... ok. we know it's his choice. I just dont see how it makes sense. Its like me saying I'm going to quit pvp cos i dont really like warburg. If he needs a break from pvp, I understand that cos, as I said, you can get frustrated.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My point was, it doesn't matter if it makes sense or not. It's a personal choice, of course you're not likely to be able to understand it.
  21. You may not see any reason, but it's Hammerfall's choice.
  22. That's a Rock/Paper/Scissors type of balancing, but in this you'd choose which one you wanted and have to play that every time. So, not really very balanced at all.

"Balancing" would be: every character has a chance to defeat every other character, regardless of AT and powersets; and really, we have that already. True, Defenders are probably the ugly duckling here, as debuffs/buffs etc. can only do so much without some raw damage behind them. But get a decent Defender in a decent team, and they're sure to get a few kills in. I'm sure some could even go it solo.

Please note: these are the opinions of someone who enjoys a bit of PvPing every once in a while, but is not, by any means, an experienced PvPer.

Also note that this post is badly written as I've had little sleep.
