OK - I finally have a few updates...
First off, instead of starting a new thread, I want to change the name of this thread from "Ye of little skillz - by Starwind", to StarwindGraphics. Anyone know how to change an existing thread name? I want to do this for several reasons:
A. It was intended to convey "my" little skillz, and in hind sight it occured to me that someone could perceive it as if I was referring to others as having little skillz. I apologize to those perceiving the latter, it was unintentional.
B. StarwindGraphics just conveys a more positive message. I may need a long way to go, but I'm looking to grow and get better and putting myself down is counter-productive.
C. This evening I finally went ahead and opened my dA account under the same name!
I still need to populate it with my art, but it will take me a little while because I have to name and describe my pieces. I'll also need to figure out how to catagorize my art and all the bells and whistles, so I'm sure I'll appear a total noob for awhile there. Please bear with me.
There are a hundred different catagories to file one's art and honestly, I'm not sure how to file my stuff. Drawings, Fantasy, Comics, 3D? Or do I just drop everything into a single scrapbook type of layout? Any feedback is appreciated.
Also - with the new baby, time and energy is hard to come by, but I've been working on a new piece that I thought I would share at this point. It's a drawing I'm working on for Pyro. I showed it to him for his feedback to make sure I wasn't going too far off course and he liked it, enough to advise that I could omit the cape, which so far I have done. I also want to color it. Below is WIP and not in a very clean state atm.
I'm having an issue with my pencil work and converting it to clean line art. As you can see, I have a "sketchy" style in my pencil work and having single, smooth, contouring lines to follow is problematic in trying to accurately mask off layers. I have Photoshop/cs and I've tried to create a line layer working in a tablet, but the line work looks shakey at best.
I have Juggertha's wonderful reference tutorials and eagerly attend Eddy's great online tutorial session this morning - but I'm not clear on how to do this properly. I'm in need a little focused assitance in this dept if at all possible. Any help is appreciated!
Thanks! -
Posted this in another thread but great piece of art Johnny! Well done! Grats on the new art Vexxa!

Thank you very much for taking time out of your evening to hold this sitting for us Eddy! It was fun and informative!
Between my lack of Photoshop knowledge and necessity of quick progression through your coloring tutorial, my specific questions pertain to line art and your technique of masking it for color applicaiton.
I'm sure you're avalanched with art requests and other questions, not to mention RL to deal with, but if you could advise the best way to dialogue with you on my questions, that would be appreciated!
Thanks again! -
Agreed! You've already won just by entering! I'm hopeful the compliments you received helped to reaffirm that! I can't even imagine what your Freakshow costume will look like for next show! Well done!

Congratulations on a great piece of art! The detail on the tattoos are just awesome! Enjoy!
-
Great job! The perspective is awesome!
-
I'm there! I hate to be the noob that I am but what do I have to do to stream you?
-
Glad you decided to go for it! Good luck Cashoo!
-
I think you did a great job Jophiel, "especially" for not having drawn in such a long time! I know, I'm in the same boat. All the costume pieces are totally discernable and the shading is good too! Also a gift such as this is a wonderful thing! Well done!
I am curious as to what you used to draw this, direct to an art program or scanned in pencils. Thanks for sharing! -
Oh, this will be great!! I've never done a live stream but please advise what time and I will definitley look to attend!!
I'm working on my art again and just scratching the surface of digitally coloring my art in particular! I have an older version of Photoshop but I would absolutley love to see your techniques and learn whatever I can!
Also, how can I NOT throw my hat in the ring for the free artz!
Really looking forward to this! Thanks Eddy! -
Have faith grasshoppah. Utilize the skillz and hotness granted you. You will emerge stronger, wizer and with a trophie me thinks!
-
Fantastic costume with great detail Cashoo! You should enter, you may be surprized! That just reeks of all kinds of win!
-
Wow! All the pieces are just fantastic!! Each has it's own vibe and feel! Great job on all of them Eddy!
While I REALLY can't wait to see whan you do with CR's pencils on my character, please know there is no rush! Keep your own pace, no pressure! It's gonna be a thing of beauty! -
Quote:Thanks Wei! I know I posted Vitalsign previously in the costumes thread, but he definitly applies to this thread as well. I hope I'm not over-killing!Starwind.
I tell ya, I think Vitalsign looks more and more awesomer every time I see him.
And Precinct is sharp! That's a great shade of blue you used for the accents there, it works so well with the other colors.
Also Vitalsign was actually a product of Vanguard, but his costume does cry Longbow doesn't it? Perhaps a hybrid? LOL -
Quote:It's hard to convey my sentiments any better than Eddy's above. I whole heartedly agree! Well said! I'm proud to be a member of this community!I've never been one to get involved in online communities, but this branch of the forum is an exception. It seems to be a magnet for good well meaning people. It makes my day to come on here and see the nice things folks do for each other. It serves as a reminder to me that no matter how crazy the world seems to be becoming at its core there are still good folks out there doing good things.
GK - I wish you much continued success and strength in your journey through life and its inevitable obstacles!! It sounds like you finally have a foothold! Stay true to yourself.
EnnVee - There can be no praise big enough for helping another human being in need. Extremely well done! I salute you! -
