OK, now, let me inject some fun here and just toss my own idea for what I consider would be cool ATs:
Dynamic Duo:
You design two characters, you and a pet. Your primary set consists of melee attacks and survival powers that apply to you.
Your secondary set consists of melee attacks and support powers that will be used by your pet.
The pets buffs only apply to you, not the team.
Tactical Hero (or villain)
This would be "easy" to implement as it would just be:
Dominator Assault Secondaries as primaries.
Defender/Tanker primary hibrid as secondary set. Set will have high damage but zero AoE. (the assault set's AoEs would be changed for some ST attacks.) -
Quote:Scarlet, as the game is built you cant allow that because suddenly y ou will have players cherry picking the best powers of every set and making gods that can kill anything and cant ever be killed.Never really got into CO, I tried on their free weekend and the game was broke, so I figured it was like kismet or something, so hard to make a comparison that's meaningful.
I hear what you say about tank mages and that's where balance would need to come in but to an extent they exist in game already with the proliferation of Fire/kins and similar.
The thing is right now we can do the same with critters, to an extent. The problem there is different, overpowered critters are not an issue as they are not exploitable. It's making underpowered critters that was an issue as they would be farmable without risk. Their note about balancing power picks likely means they revised how the critters give XP based on the type of powers you select for the critter, not that they will prevent you from making overpowered ones. -
Quote:A keheledian is an AT, not an origin. The kheledian is not defined by where it comes from, but instead by what it is. A kheledian is a shape shifting alien that has the potential to turn into an energy blasting squid or a bulky crab. That's not an origin at all.Semantics IMO. Kheldian is as much an origan, more so really, then "natural" and "science". The same could be said, IMO of course, with Incarneits. (prolly spelled wrong. My spellings bad. I've come to terms with it.
)
Incarneit/Magic seems IMO to make the most since. (to me)
But, frankly, i wouldn't be supprised if we never see that AT/Origin. Or even a new one really. I'm just optimistic.
Incarnates, in theory, could be anything. That being told at one point Statesman did wanted to make an incarnate AT, but not sure if there even was a paper outline of what it would be. If based on the only two incarnates in the game, it would had been a type of Tankmage. -
I want the CD copy so I'll just wait until that's out and get that. I have enough alts for the time being, dont need to roll a DP, although would love to test a Demon Summoning and seems there wont be a beta for that.

Quote:.... is this not basically what the Nemesis did with the Rikti? Does this means The Nemesis is just a Steampunk Net Troll?More speculation:
The new foe really is an alternate universe version of our characters. However, they are not Praetorian... they're only pretending to be.
This alternate Earth is one where the Internet has replaced all other forms of entertainment and communication. No TV, no phones, nothing but the Internet. As a result, society has shifted in a horrible direction... where nearly the entire human race has become nothing more than a bunch of Net Trolls.
These trolls come to Primal Earth, and attack us while pretending to be from Praetorian Earth. Their goal is to get us to counter attack (hence the events of Going Rogue) and cause a massive (flame) war. But why? What are their goals? Do they have some Nemesis-like master plan? Do they intend to let us fight it out and then destroy both Primal and Praetorian Earths while we're at our weakest.
No. Nothing that grand.
They did it for the lulz. -
Quote:A well built tank can take so much damage he can tank himself x8, specially with a defender backing him up.Not if the whole team found itself up against a mirror of the team
At the same time, a defender can dish enough damage to slaughter himself without him ever having a chance.
A blaster may be able to kill extremely fast his own doppelganger, but he would have to do it fast or die. That takes a lot of fun away from the epicness such system implies.
It's very tricky to make this without screwing up squishies and making Tankers required in these teams. -
I'm extremely skeptical about "match your player blow to blow". Even if it worked for solo such a thing breaks with teams.
I just would love to see something that would always have a chance to kill anyone no matter how much regeneration/healing they had (we already have resist/def caps to technically do this but regen/healing go unchecked) without forcing these things to insta-kill squishies. -
You will never see a free-pick build option for this game. Ever.
That being told, well, we do are getting a new AT that will branch out into resistance/pretorancopwhateva. -
As noted throughout the thread, CoV was given out for free only after 2, nearly 3 years. That's a lot of time holding back, seeing your friends enjoy amazing new content, just to avoid spending money on something that will be free later.
Heck, I guarantee you that you will be able to find a copy for less than a month worth of game within a year of it being released as part of some store inventory cleanup.
Also, should this expansion be successful you can be sure there will be more, and it's current trend of MMOs to give previous expansions for free when you buy the latest as it makes sure your population is not fragmented into dozens of combination of "haves" and "haves not"
There is also the point that CoV was breaking the game in two groups of players, it was easier to maintain things if you knew every player had access to it all.
Also, they had an idea of what was going to be on the expansion long ago. It is very likely they had that idea the day they gave CoV out for all. Think about it, Going Rogue's main feature, side switching, would had been meaningless if you were not able to switch to the other side and play there.
I paid full price for CoV and dont regret it.
If you are just looking for a reason not to get it, hold on buying, as I noted, within a year you will likely find it on some discount bin. Keep in mind, though, that actual expansions (CoV was a different beast) tend to have the effect of luring the entire playerbase out of the old world and into the new. You may find the old-game a very lonely place. -
Unnecessary political comment attempting to relate developer actions to political party opposite of poster's party of choice.

Quote:OK lets say I want to send 20 emails to a friend of mine. Thing is, this friend has received 10 Direct Character mails so at least one of his characters only has 10 spaces available.
There will be 20 mail cap to inbox. Mails sent to full mailbox will bounce (bounced mails can exceed cap). If you are at the cap you cannot send mails.
I send 20 items to his global, and he is not logged in. What will happen? Will he get all 20 items if he logs in first with a character that has an empty inbox? What if he logs in with the character that only has 10 empty slots? Will it bounce at that point? -
What about salvage stacks? Will stacks follow Auction House stack limits (10 items) or will they follow inventory limits (max stack size.)

I'd love it if the base computer was able to dub as an AE terminal with it's own hologram (but only if it is active, dont want no generic hologram all the time in the base) and use of the base teleporters to get into the mission.

Now if only we could have animated monster heads that open and close their mouths slightly as they breath.

Imply the developers are the poster's employees and they most address posers personal whims.

Quote:I know Lazarus is going to be very very happy.Animated tails are not capes. They're nearly identical to how we do wings, but a much simpler rig. (Not too much more expensive than a bow when you really get down to it.)
They've also been put on their own costume node and will now show up under "Lower Body". Which will mean you can do a Belt and a Tail (animated or static) on the same character. Unfortunately, that means the tails under the belt category are being flagged as legacy. So if you want to keep your current, non-animated tail, you'll still need to go in and select that costume part from the lower body the next time you edit your costume at the tailor. -
People forget one thing: Martial Arts has punches alternate moves as part of power customization. It would be expected those to also apply for this set.
-
Quote:The net idea I would avoid, a Martial Arts set should not rely on tools to do his job. I could see Cripling Axe Kick replacing the Tier 1 as a tool that does damage, immobs, but forces the player to back off himself instead of just immobilizing at range. I like better the knockback idea, though, as right now just one blaster has the option, Psi also has it but sacrifices one of it's two attacks.I like this layout a lot. Frankly I just want Crane Kick in a Blaster secondary somewhere, doesn't have to have the sweet damage of the Scrapper version as long as it has that animation and knockback. Could also put Crane Kick as power 3 with its solid damage, and make 1 an Entangling Net, same animation as Entangling Arrow when it lands on an enemy, with the Web Grenade throwing animation.
Power 7 is of most interest to me though, are you picturing a Conserve Power type of thing, or the equivalent of hitting a small blue? That latter would be VERY nice, and something unique. Perhaps call it something to fit the pirates and cowboys out there as well, like "Deep Breath".
The Power 7 i visualize as a sort of blue inspiration click. Recharge and magnitude I have not considered, but I also suggested similar for a Bushido tanker/brute adaptation of Ninjitsu. -
Quote:I sort of like the idea but have a few notes:1 - Thunder Kick, Melee, Minor DMG(Smash), Foe Disorient
2 - Storm Kick, Melee, Moderate DMG(Smash)
4 - Focus Chi, Self +DMG, +To-Hit
10 - Crane Kick, Melee, High DMG(Smash), Foe Knockback
16 - Caltrops, Ranged (Location AoE), Minor DoT(Lethal), Foe -SPD, -Jump
20 - Cobra Strike, Melee, Minor DMG(Smash), Foe Disorient
28 - Smoke Flash, PBAoE, Foe Placate
35 - Blinding Powder, Ranged (Cone), Foe Sleep, Confuse, -To-Hit, -Perception
38 - Dragon's Tail, PBAoE, Moderate DMG(Smash), Foe Knockdown
1: Caltrops is a Devices power so you wont see it here.
2: Structure,
This is the basic structure of a blaster secondary (not written on rock but a good guideline):
Tier 1 must be ranged ST immob or melee extreme knockback, to help the lowbies keep enemies at range.
Now you need at least 2 melee attacks.
At a high tier you need a melee ST mex.
At least one AoE attack.
Build Up
AoE Mez of some sort.
Some Utility
And you end up with one creative slot that can increase AoE or melee focus, or even more utility.
For MA I'd do:
1 Crane Kick (low damage version with sure extreme knockback)
2 Storm Kick (ignore damage of MA version as blaster secondaries get rebalanced as such)
3 Thunder Kick
4 Dragon's Tail
5 Focus Chi
6 Intimidating Presence (alternatively: Chuck Norris impersonation) Makes foes flee away from you for 5 seconds, aura similar to world of confusion.)
7 Meditate: Click end recovery.
8 Chi Energy (Power Boost)
9 Cobra's Strike -
Wont ever happen. If that was to happen then you will have all energy melee and energy blasters players asking for similar, and babs will refuse that. Even if he agreed then you would have all elemental melee/ranged players again asking for the same, as it would only be fair. In the end we end up with every set punching and tossing rocks without any fx and entirely killing sets visual identity.

Quote:Well, I still would want timed chat (so the character does not say the next line until a predefined amount of time goes by.) And I'm no dev but it sounds as it would be easier to make an entity an ally and have the chat timers also be able to trigger a betrayal so you can't attack him. What about something like the start phase of an Arena match? Like you enter a room that has a "info NPC" in it, so you can't move or fire off powers for a few seconds while the text bubbles appear?
Would also be nice to make betrayals triggered on another unit's betrayal (would be easy to sinc betrayals of full groups.) -
I got to say I love the cut scenes. They are much more team friendly than clues
At least I'd love to be given timed dialog with invulnerability (ally until conversation done) entities to be able to say the story through the characters and not through UI elements like clues and briefings.
