One mega-TF later...

We started near enough on the dot of 2:00pm, had a quick reset after deciding Rugged might have been a bit ambitious for a full low-20s team, and finally got Clamor packed off to the Zig around 7:30pm.
More dingage than we could shake a stick at; we lost track of how many about 1/2 way though, but I know I went from 21 to 25 and several others did something similar. Even the weather, with its evil d/c tricks, couldn't stop us!
Cheers all, and we'll have to do this again some time! -
Double XP + Freaks + TF - just how much better could it get?
My server-hopping Alt, Sally Forth (Ice/Ice tank, currently lvl 21) will be starting this off at the specificed time, by the IP hospital. If anyone's interested sign up here, or show up on the day.
If lots of people show up we'll start several teams and make a race of it. -

Nightfall is the coney-shooty thing, you mean Darkest Night.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um, perhaps. -
[ QUOTE ]
But fearsome stare, tenebrous tentacles, nightfall is an awesome attack chain, especially with a tar pit underneath them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed, although I'd swap TT and Nightfall in the chain. That way their accuracy and damage get debuffed before they're hit with the AoE and start shooting back. -
[ QUOTE ]
....to take advantage of the Double XP?
Any monster hunts? TFs?
[/ QUOTE ]
TBH if you want to take advantage of the double XP I'd avoid monster hunts like the plague. Even doubled the xp off them's so poor you'd make better use of your time street hunting blues. -
Late, but still before midnight - happy birthday Gideon!

Has anyone else noticed them appearing on mishes with no Kheldians on the team. Running my defender through some of the hollows mishes the other day we had 5 void bosses and 3 quantum Calibans as well as a couple of void seekers without a WS or PB having been anywhere near the team far less on it. Thats 8 bosses - I've never seen a quantum or void boss on my PB.
[/ QUOTE ]
The game has a long, and rather scatty, memory about Khelds having appeared in the past. If you, or another member of your team, had been teamed with a Kheld earlier in the day it tends to carry on adding voids/quants just in case. -
[ QUOTE ]
I remember something similar with one of my characters, I cant remember if it was hold or stun but some sort of PvE enemy did like 1 second mezzes, that were so fast I didnt notice it until I checked the combat log. First I thought it was a toggledrop.
[/ QUOTE ]
Was that on Villains? One of the Longbow types originally fired an attack like you said; a very brief but huge magnitude mezz that cut through all protection and dropped your toggles. There was enough fuss kicked up about it that it was removed a bit before I7, IIRC. -
My latest symptom of altitis, Sally Forth, is currently being offered this mission by Trevor Seaborn. As some people may want it towards the Spelunker badge I thought I'd open it up to all comers.
Anyone interested post here to book a place, or Tell me (@Standoff) or Sally a bit ahead of time on the night.
Not fussed about xp, so exemping optional, but if any high levels are along an escort in and out through the maze would be appreciated.
Edit: Added the date to the subject. D'oh! -
A good set, but more directed to support than soloing. You can solo with it, rather slowly, but it hasn't got that many damage-oriented attacks and has strong controlly/domination leanings.
As a D/D I can solo bosses (eventually) by debuffing the pants off them, but EBs are a real struggle; can typically get them to about 25-50% health, then End and insps run out and it all goes a bit pear-shaped. With their regen and my low damage they just take too long to take down effectively. -
Hmmmm, my initial plans (before intentions got clouded by annoying facts) had been to go triform, although now I'm in the low 30s I'm starting to find Nova a bit too weak to be useful. Nowhere near as effective as a real blaster at the same level, and as defenceless and fragile as a very fragile, defenceless thing.
So that might get respecced out at some point.
If I go human/Dwarf biform, CJ might be acceptable as a toggle - I generally only go Dwarf if the team either needs a tank or things have suddenly turned heavy, and either way once in Dwarf I'm liable to stay that way until things have calmed down a lot. After which reverting to human without CJ toggled on should be OK.
Level 32's got the nuke power pencilled in, so might take CJ at 35... -
Thanks for the feedback from all.
It sounds like the mezz protection from Acro is pretty much useless (which is in line with how I found it on my defender), but the KB protection from it, and Immob protection from CJ, are more worthwhile.
As CJ's a single pick I'll give that a go, and see if the PB version of Hover's usuable for KB protection if slotted up a bit.
I'll start grooming a few pet controllers too... -
What the subject line says, basically.
My PB's just dinged 30, and has been meeting more and more mezzing villain types over the last few levels; experience with my blaster main suggests it only gets worse from here on...
Other than teaming with controllers or spending the entire mission in Dwarf the only long term counter to this looks like the CJ/Acrobatics combo, but that's 3 power picks taken up and that's a rather major commitment.
Having tried CJ/Acro with my Emp defender (we wasn't a melee fiend, and still found himself repeatedly mezzed through Acro) and been a bit disappointed, I was wondering what other people have found here.
Do you think the Leaping stuff gives good enough protection against mezz to sacrifice 3 PB powers on? -
[ QUOTE ]
I'd say doing it repeatedly, where the target has no chance to escape, despite being asked to stop, would be griefing.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think so - it's extremely poor form and only graceless idiots would do it (IMHO), but I remember seeing a US red name post essentially saying that griefing is definitively impossible in a PvP zone. Their primary purpose is to allow players to take down other players, so absolutely any tactics used to acheive that are in order. -
Ouch - my PBs still in the late 20s, so the joy of Malta + Voids is still a good way off.
I did come across a new example of Void's shoehorned in where they don't really fit at the weekend, though - the feared "Stop 30 Fir Bolg escaping" Croatoa mission.
There were a few static Voids camped with Fir near the cairn/escape door - fair enough, seen that sort of thing before. But, a few Voids were also thrown in with the escapees - meaning the mob AI had them running right past the Kheldian that's meant to be their one and only target, in a desperate bid to escape the map with their new Fir Bolg friends.
Gone native, eh? -
TBH I was joking (well, maybe in a slightly nervous way) about the hidden regen nerf in my OP.
And while I guess the def calculation change does raise the MoG "to hit" threshold above 5% in many cases, you can't really call it a targeted swipe at regen in particular... -
Ooops - sorry about that! The 1AT crowd shout a lot, so teammates from less brash SGs sometimes get overlooked. -
...we all know it has to be in there somewhere - it's just better stealthed than usual this time.
What was the I7 Regen nerf? -
[ QUOTE ]
Would make the missions a little more dynamic although I'm not sure people would be keen on a voidstalker creeping up behind you and ambushing you mid mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
It already happens.
Soloing another of those Croatoa missions ("Clear office of Fir Bolg" or something along those lines) I entered a large room and spawned an ambush made up of a Seeker and his two Fir Bolg lackeys (!?).
The first I knew of this was when a quantum-type shot went shooting past my ear from behind; I was in human form at the time, so if that first shot had hit it could have been very messy indeed. -
I'm slowly getting the hang of my PB, and how to cope with the PB-specific problems (Quants and Voids especially) - on the whole so far so good.
Just lately I started on the Croatoa arcs, and was a bit boggled to find those sneaky Voids had somehow managed to infiltrate themselves into Tuatha De Dannan missions. A bit later I was even more boggled to find one cheerfully standing next to spawns on a "defeat all ghosts" mission, waiting for the PB to come along.
I took them down fine, but my real question is how on earth are they meant to be there?. In a sort of RP way I can see that Voids could find their way into many mob types - Freaks, Family, CoT even - but Tuatha? A bunch of non-humans fundamentally opposed to any sort of human presence? Ghosts, who attack on sight and don't come across as even capable of rational persuasion?
A little thing, and I guess not really an issue, just another of those CoX "Eh!?" moments. -
As ICU and I both took part in a 1AT respec yesterday evening (successful, of course!
) this evening's mission is cancelled.
-
My level 28 PB (Stand'ard) isn't hopelessly gimped, but I have made a few iffy choices on the way up...so, time for the traditional solution, RESPEC!
Anyone and everyone in the level range 27-29 welcome, if you're interested please post here!
