The best advice I can give for PvP is don't get upset when you lose
[/ QUOTE ]
this really is the best piece of advice for pvp imo -
Snipe can 1 shot ATs utilizing defiance (i.e. flying to the top of the screen cloaked, falling and losing most of their life and maxing out the defiance bar then flying up and sniping someone *cough Daedra cough*) I have seen it in action and its very effective

Well i was just in Sirens on a rare Hero side visit using my grav/rad troller and stalkers were largely useless, sure they got the odd shot in on a straggler (too often me
) but thats what they are supposed to do, didnt bother me, I come out running and back into the frey.
When I play my stalker I do not think he is overpowered by any stretch of the imagination and yet i fully feel my controller is overpowered. I was standing in the middle of 2 brutes and a load of ninja hencemen with holds and debuffs flowing and it was painful to watch, there is no way I should have been able to do that in my opinion. So my stalker take out a sole player, big deal, controllers can tear an opposing team to shreds. -

What is the most annoying in this story is the vision of a dev reading your post and seeing that as a feedback, very disturbing really. All this reminds me of rogues in WOW when the game came out, people kept saying it was unfair fighting a rogue etc etc, but they never thought they might have do something wrong with their template.

That reminds me, we need a "Stalkers do it from behind" shirt! I think it was penny-arcade that made the "Rogues do it from behind" one.

When I'm playing with Doctor Gonzo (En/En), I tend to have a slightly different way of viewing the battle - I'll either ask for a CM or equivalent, or use a BF, and head for: Brute/Stalker/Dominator-Corrupter-MM.
Brutes go down first because they're not pretty when they're angry - best to drop them quick, and get them out of the way.
Stalkers go next, because of the obvious risk of AS.
As for the last three... it depends largely on the situation and powerset/player. I tend to get rid of known threats first, then unknown quantities, and then the less-skilled players.
Of them all, Stalkers tend to be the trickiest to drop for now - they have no qualms about running, and I rarely follow until everything else has dropped, or I have. I'll wait until the Brutes have full SOs and slots to make my final call on that, though.

The point I was trying to express in a slightly humerous way is that if you say stalkers are too good in PvP then you must also nerf all the other builds/ATs that also are 'too good' in PvP. Apologies if humour isn't your thing.
Saying that one AT or specific build needs to be nerfed, or changed so that you can function without change is pointless, if there is no alternative and you have tried various strategies including changing your build and you are still no better for any chnages then sure call for a nerf. But to rant that your build is gimped or that someone elses is to powerful whilst not even considering any chnage is idiotic, something that someone of Shimmer's caliber is not normally know for.
There that better?
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree,
My Grav/Rad controller was working just fine against stalkers in Sirens, I got tagged a few times but so what. All ATs can have killer PVP builds, complaining that your PVE build doesnt cut the mustard against PVPers is pointless whining.
Theres a PVPer joke in the pvp zones where we say we are petitioning the other players for using their powers, beleive it or not petitions have been sent from people in PVP zones becuase they dont like other people using their powers.
The one shot kill will go, I wont miss it really, I odnt think a secondary nerf will occur as it would render the AT useless and no one would use it.
And lastly I will say again how about people actually trying out the ATs they are complaining about, gives you a bit of perspective. -
Responding tosome random comments throughout this thread
If you dont want to make a dedicated PVP alt, dont. Just dont be suprised/upset when someone who has kills you again and again. It doesnt take any time to lvl characters.
I dont get what people want, they want to build their character for pve AND rule pvp? Its just not really going to happen, sure there will be some ATs that do both well but why start moan about the advantages of others powers? Its funny but most of the vitriol for Stalkers is coming from those who have not played them, why not give them a go before making blanket statements.
ALL stalkers are not unstobbable killing machines, in fact none of them are and all die at one point or another. A certain Blaster who I play with in Sirens and kill again and again (great sport) relishes when a 'newbie' stalker comes in as he can kill them very easily. Being a Stalker doesnt make you a good pvper being an experienced Stalker does in exactly the same way as ANY experienced AT does, be it grav troller, storm stroller, NRG blaster or empath.
I really do think that if people are going to complain about powersets in pvp then perhaps their mindset isnt right for pvp, you really should relax and take what comes and indulge in chat, its a lot more fun and you will learn the weaknesses of said ATs.
Its a lot more constructive to start a thread asking for advice on how to negate a perceived imbalance. -

Besides, the insps and IR goggles do work, and you can get them right now.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was in Siren's two hours before this post was sent. IR goggles WERE NOT available.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hes right, they are not currently available as I personally helped shift the control from Heroes to Villains

IR googles are useless againt stalkers!!! I have been AS with my fancy IR googles on :/
[/ QUOTE ]
I disagree. Using IR goggles I can *see* a stalker - knowing he's in the vicinity is frankly all I'm asking, because then I have an idea of when to down some inspirations. If I can't detect him then I've got problems, you can't keeps insps running all the time, so the "buy some inspirations" advice is pretty useless.
[/ QUOTE ]
With my stalker IR goggles on their own are useless, I took a power pool in order to make this happen, as you say buy inspirations is not the bes thing to do in Sirens at least as you lose bounty leaving the zone.
But in terms of balance I would have to say that the pvp aspect of the game is very well balanced, people who moan about stalkers are generally those who have not played them, they are not easy to play or to get the shots that so many people complain about, if it doesnt come off I am massively vulnerable as my defence is totally nominal to say the least. To the 100s of scrappers who seem to think that a stalker is a scrapper with hide, the simple fact is that a stalker has at least 30% less hit points than you and a lot less defence.
If you are a defender or a controller you are a target, simply because you buff the other players and are (usually) easier to kill, plenty that you can do to try to eliminate this from happening and I know MANY players in Sirens from ALL ATs and there are always those who use what they have to the best of their ability and are night on indestructible, G-zeus is an empath yet is really quite hard to kill, Agent Matron is a controller who is rarely able to be beaten even with hoards of stalkers chasing her, Dr. Kara who was on tonight played very well and was hard to beat and many more. Storm controllers and others negate AS completely but I dont whinge about them, I think it through and do what i can to beat them. If you chose a non offensive AT and are not able to enjoy PVP to its fullest, build another character, its what I did and I ahve great fun in Sirens with great people, its a real delight playing with the regulars on both sides.
For those who think I am just an opportune stalker I often swap over to the heroes side to help with balance on my warshade or newly respec'd Grav troller, I keep moving to minimise AS but yeah, I got one shotted, oh well i get up come out running and chain hold/slow stalkers who hit others who are running away.
Simple fact is everyone elses powers seem great to everyone else but I would recommend to anyone to try them first, stalkers are hard to play properly in PVP as to maximise your character you ahve to compromise the build, storm controllers are not unbeatable and empaths are much more problematic for the villains than people realise, yeah they die but then they run out stocking people with heals and other buffs, so you die, you lose nothing but gain experience,
Try to think it round and get a pvp character if you really want to be good at PVP, if you dont and just want some fun, have fun and dont get upset when the people who dedicate their characters to it kill you.
And lastly for goodness sake, try to have fun, smile and please TURN ON HERO/VILLAIN CHAT you will find it a more enjoyable experience -
u need to be close to the kill to get the rep point, also rep degrades by 1 pt per day
-
depends if you and your team are getting the kills, how close you are to the kill and whether city of bugs has reset your rating.
-
you use your powers to maximum annoyance levels which means you are certainly doing something right
Personally I will be pleased to see you on the stalker side but dont allow yourself to be chased off against your wishes by anyone.

If you're moving, AS gets interrupted.
I don't know why people are so worried about stalkers. As long as you don't stay still, they can't do anything.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not true.
Only the stalker needs to be stationary, if the target is moving it only makes it trickier not impossible. For example, if i stand in your path and you run past me at super speed but its close enough for me to activate AS it will still hit 100 yrds down the road. Plenty of people can testify they have been ASd dispite movement.
