I'd probably have taken it, but then I dont think I'd be playing stone secondry, I'm eying up En Armour for my next one, or electric Armour. so wouldn't want mobs hitting me build my fury, want me hitting mobs to do it instead

Edit: To clarify if you're Inv or Stone you can probably take the pounding, if you're not you want the fury to build from the damage you're dishing out

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats probably a fair point, my brutes are stone and inv.

That said at lvl 32 my attack cycle is full.

    [ QUOTE ]
Stun looks great on paper (Mag3 disorient - though TF is Mag3 as well), and I plan to take it on my Stalker, but for a Brute I probably wouldn't bother unless you plan to PvP a lot... and I know you don't PvP much, Miss Actually if some AVs/heroes could be stunned (I have no idea if they can) you could reliably stack disorients with TF & Stun, but I guess that's a bit situational to be worth a power pick.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I kept Back Alley Brawler virtually perma stunned/disoriented yesterday, admittedly he was -3 lvls but clearly it is possible

It also depends on what type of controller you are going to be.
For a stormie ( what i've seen in pvp ) SS is very much needed , and fly is a nice bonus so you can chase after the flying villains and ground them ( or use hurricane to debuff a corruptors acc - or simply intrerupt his sniper attack ).

    [/ QUOTE ]

well i've been planning an illusion / stormie. Fly would seem to fit the build but it's so slow! Why is superspeed required?

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are a LOT of -fly powers out and about and if you just have fly you would die a lot in my opinion. I use a SS/Fly combo so I have 3 dimensional escape route and SS for when I am hit with -fly

    [/ QUOTE ]
With the SS and fly combo you are very vulnerable to slows, unless you have a good kin buffer. Jumps arent resisted the same way, since slows barely touch it.
Besides hitting a jumping target with melee attacks is much harder than a SS'ing and flying target.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know the theory behind it all but as has been so often stated in other pvp discussions, it must surely be down to how they are used, I know people who use TP to such an extent that death is beyond rare for them. I also do more than well with my fly/ss combo despite hoards of controllers

Aye we need to get you the badge You up for a harder diff version of it botty? Stupid real life! Pfft I cancelled my subscription to that game, didnt like the content!

Sure doc, lol tho I am gonna wrap you in bubble wrap this time to keep you safe!

Ok I will sort out a date for it next week and let folks know. Any days/times people particularly can/cant make?

    [/ QUOTE ]

So long as there is a kinetic max the difficulty lvl as far as I am concerned (thought those damned blue ink men will suck )
  5. [ QUOTE ]
I beg to differ....I didnt take barrage initially and at low lvl had a real problem building fury. I eventually took it and found it invaluable, not only for the fury but it stacks with energy punch/bons smasher to increase the chance of stun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As it stands on both of my EM brutes I have much better attacks and in my rotation there isnt room or need for another attack especially with ETs low activation time. I also dont rely on my attacks to build my fury, thats what mobs are for
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Is TF critical random? Thus it can occur outside hide status aswell as within the hidden status- As with the likes of golden dragonfly, eviscerate, and "i think" eagles claw...Or does it just always critical from hide?

    [/ QUOTE ]

All stalker attacks have a (small) chance of a critical against stunned/slept/held foes AFAIK. I do occassionally seem to get random criticals in battle but hey, the more the better

    Ice Mistral

Im up for it again, should hopefully manage a full night withouot random guests fussing over the puppy
  8. Skip barrage, there are more than enough high powered attacks to keep a rotation going so will more often than not be simply idle.

    @Frazzle.d if you're short on PVP-ness.

I'm known for being a loud mouth git at times, but /em slap normally sorts me out

  11. [ QUOTE ]
I haven't been in the PvP zones nearly as much as I would have wanted but I want to get a villain up to PvP because when ever I want a serious battle with the villains on my hero 9/10 times we out number them so im gonna try to even it out a bit or atleast have a villain waiting for when the heroes out number the villains.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was always swapping back and forward depending on the numbers but not many others do, be nice to have at least one more who does this. Its sad that a lot of the players in sirens seem only interested in playing when its a peice of cake due to overwhelming numbers (both sides) Once proper resistance is organised the majority of the none regulars seem to leave. Personally I dont understand what people get out of easy kills.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Seems to be more mouthy players over the last few weeks. Last night some guy sat in his base behind all those big guns and proclaimed himself the best at pvp in the game while shouting rude words.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If this was on defiant then I think most know who he is, we usually have to get our heroes confused to lay a much deserved smackdown on him as he either just stays in base swearing or waits for us to ignore him then comes and killsteals, if its on union it sad that all servers have a jerk like this.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
It seems a little odd to me why the devs would design an endgame challenge which is rife with lag and/or mapservers. Is there no way for them to upgrade the servers at all?

    [/ QUOTE ]

of course there is, sadly it all costs money and they dont want to spend it, Im sure Cryptic would love for their game to be run on a vast array of Cray supercomputers but I dont see this happening
  14. Its a sad state of affairs at the moment in the pvp zone (IMO) where it seems most of the old regulars with whom we all had a rapport with have started on new alts. As such the zones seems to have seen an influx of people who are intent on swearing and moaning on broadcast all day long. Seriously, its a game, if you dont enjoy it or get upset to the extent that you just have to [censored] and swear dont play.

I just dont enjoy the zones at the moment to the extent where I am building up a pvp alt on union. The sadest thing is that it is just a small minority which sours the experience for everyone there, indeed there was about 20 in sirens a few weeks ago and one insane miscreants foul mouthed rantings (at everyone, hero and villain) just killed the mood for all.

All a matter of opinion of course, I find FA far to squishy and though invincibility doesnt injure the opponents it does continue to increase your defence and accuracy with each opponent in melee up to 16 so at least if your taunt pulls unwanted agro you have more of a chance of fighting it off (IMO).

    [/ QUOTE ]
Healing Flames pretty much makes up for the lack of "stonewall" resistance in the /FA set - it doesn't matter if you're squishy, so long as you can regenerate nearly a third of a bar whenever you need to. FWIW, I think Blazing Aura is more useful on a Brute - past a certain point on the Fury-meter, I can stand in the middle of a bunch of minions, regenerating health and endurance, and have everything dead (with a still high Fury bar) by the time I'm ready to move on to the next group. I raise my eyebrows at "Taunt" as well - the best Taunt I have is going and one-shotting the guy in the middle of the group firing at people other than me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was talking about the pbaoe autotaunt of invincibility and flaming aura by the way, I cant really see where you can slot in real taunt on a brute
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I find Inv gets detoggled far too easy for my liking. Although fire doesnt give great protection it is good with a kin or rad corruptor (not as good as stone tho).

    [/ QUOTE ]

In pvp Inv is a joke, turn on autobrawl and it drops farcically fast. With the inv set hold/stun res power on in pve though I havent ever been detoggled (I forget the name of it at 1.20am )

    [ QUOTE ]
Is all up to your play style.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep I am EA and only have one power from the secondary (entropy) apart from hide and I do just fine I dont think many people take a secondary just for one power but its my pvp alt
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Taunt ? I'm a brute, not a tanker ! Taunt means nothing to me ! Just smash, smash and resmash, I don't care about the others in the team

    [/ QUOTE ]

you care if other people are stealing your agro as you lose fury
  19. [ QUOTE ]
As you've got one with Blazing Aura, but one which does very good damage.

I'm not saying /Inv Brutes are bad, they do pretty well but /FA is a really underestimated set. Though, I've only tried it with Energy Melee which has a lot of disorients to protect me and my poor little resistances...

    [/ QUOTE ]

All a matter of opinion of course, I find FA far to squishy and though invincibility doesnt injure the opponents it does continue to increase your defence and accuracy with each opponent in melee up to 16 so at least if your taunt pulls unwanted agro you have more of a chance of fighting it off (IMO). Perhaps the defensive sets suit my playstyle more, I personally infinately prefer my Granite brute to my Inv but as a beginner brute I dont think he will go far wrong with inv.
  20. Also with inv you get a pbaoe autotaunt built into invincibility which is nice
  21. Energy Melee/Invulnerability is a great set for soloing, you shouldnt get any problems all the way up.

/stone with a kinetic in tow is awesome, mine is a compromise as is geared for duoing. The speed and damage I can do with Gandrol is insane. I can solo but its slow work as I dont have any end reds except in mud pots.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
This would be my idea of an awesome spines/ea build. Great defence with insane offence. CJ and ss means you can get away from anything with unsuppresed jump, so you can get away from and those 4slots of damage well could go to defence. And barbswipe is pants, rippper pwns it. This build is what i'd say is a fully pledged stormie killer, which i remember you telling me thats what you were. Problem with your build once your unhiden and a stormie gets snowstorm on you, your going no where.

    [/ QUOTE ]

ask the stormies how often they have managed to kill me, its even less often than they manage to actually lock snowstorm on me as placate kills that instantly and even hide rotates it away. Snowstorm is not remotely a problem for me, lingering rad however is much more so.

Problem with your build is you have no fly and you really shouldnt underestimate that ability in pvp especially with stalking. A true 3 dimensional escape route and the ability to reach all combatants should not be underestimated.

And of course ripper will pwn barbswipe, what a totally inane statement, one is a lvl 1/2 power and the other is a high lvl primary :P Totally irrelvant comparison as I dont have room for it in the higher end of my build, I would be very happy to lose the low lvl attacks but sheilds are irrelvant to me as I have requently said.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Hurdle > Health, self heal or no. Take that and Combat Jumping, slot CJ with 2 jumps and hurdle with 3 and your movement is insane.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Already ahve hurdle and health is a boon to when i actually bother to lvl him. I would like to drop spine burst and barb swipe but at the lvls u get them theres nothing else I want/need, if only pools were available from lvl 2

I just dont ahve space in the build for CJ, I have 4 pools as is and all are needed for my style
  24. I think thats a terrible idea.

Controllers have holds, its their main thing and to get them to indulge in some form of sub game while a stalker comes up from behind and [censored] you is not pvp. Blasters have no mez protection but can blow the attackee to kingdom come, its all swings and roundabouts. The mezz factor is fine as it is, it does next to no damage and is mainly a support character. Whats next? someone healing the opposition isnt fair on the person who is not getting healed to have his opponent restored to full health, what about someone with mezz protection, thats not fair for people with mezz powers, perhaps we need to come up with a sub game in order to see if each and every power hits/defends and is effective

I dont mean to be rude in anyway and Im sorry if it sounds like I am getting at you but the pvp system may not be perfect but it is pretty good. No AT is overpowered and all have their strengths, seeing as how there is a specific insp to negate mezz I dont see a problem with the system.
