  1. All we know at this point is that it will be sometime in April. Barring any unforeseen postponing anyway.
  2. If you're like me, though, you'll find Masterminds painfully boring to play.

The most active you'll be is summoning and buffing your pets. After that they more or less do all the work. :P

My first and only level 50 Villain is a Thugs Mastermind, and I haven't played her since she hit 50. lol

The sad part is, they couldn't be more wrong.

Yes, you can parade around as a spandex-clad superhero fighting crime for the greater good if you want, but there are massive amounts of costume options that don't involve spandex. Those who like to be unique in an MMO would absolutely fall in love with the character creator if they gave it a chance. I've played off and on for years, and I have yet to run in to someone who has anything near to the same costume my characters have (the only time I have is when we purposefully copied each other). You can't do that in a game like World of Warcraft.

And there's a depth to the game that rivals even the great World of Warcraft. And they continue to add more depth to it with new patches. The upcoming Going Rogue expansion will add a huge amount of depth to the game. For years, I've been making "Reformed" villains that now fight crime in Paragon City, but they were never actually reformed villains. In a couple of months, I'll actually be able to make that character reality. And of course there's the fallen hero concept as well.

Plus, even though this game doesn't have typical equipment that you can find to make your character stronger, we don't miss it because of Enhancements. This became even truer when they introduced the IO Set Enhancements. They added a whole new level to building a strong character that we didn't have before.

A prime example of this would be the Fire/Kin Controller, who does more damaging/buffing than controlling.

This is even truer now that we have dual builds. One build can be specialized for one thing while the other can be specialized for something else.

One of the biggest tips I can give for a budding Brute: DON'T let people snare you in to the idea that your only role in groups is to tank. Brutes are built to dish out tons of damage, but still be able to take a beating. They aren't Tankers, an archetype built - as the name implies - specifically to tank for a group.

I've heard of too many Brutes being kicked from groups or having people quit the group because "they weren't tanking enough." A Brute focuses on dealing damage efficiently enough to kill things before they can do serious harm to your team mates, rather than soaking up all the damage the enemies dish out. They have a Taunt, and can tank to some extent, yes, but that will never be their primary role.

Plus, there are many people who aren't in a position to support multiple MMO accounts and $145 isn't that big a deal to me. I'd rather have my friends playing in one or two places, rather than scattered amongst eight different titles.

I also call anyone out who tries to make a Rob Liefield joke and doesn't actively play either CoX or CO ("I'm pullin' your comic geek card. Show and prove, poser!").
Hi, I'm your friend. I'm getting sick of WoW. Is there an MMO you can recommend I play? :P

The biggest problem with getting people to pay attention to a game like this is the fact it's a superhero MMO. People hear that and immediately dismiss it as a corny kids game. Once they've made up their mind of that fact, it's difficult to convince them otherwise.

And there's always the Mission Architect system. There's some interesting story arcs to be had in there. Some are actually quite funny, too.
  12. I find that most of the difficulty in finding teams comes not from how many people play a particular server, but from what time they play.

For example, if it's early morning you're not likely to get a lot of willing team members, as a lot of people are just on to get a bit of play time in before they need to leave for work, school, etc., and don't want to commit to a team they'll just have to ditch in 15 minutes. Or, if it's late at night you may not get many team members because people are about to log off to go to bed.

Then there's the whole pesky timezone thing that makes it even worse. Person A is getting ready to go to bed, person B is just on for a bit before work/school, and you're sitting there at 5pm with nothing to do. :P
  13. Would be neat if you could do missions that had no enemies and still get EXP.

Boring as all hell, but neat. :P

    That's not entirely true.

I pre-order games from GameStop frequently, but I don't actually pay anything until they're shipped.

Though, as far as I know that's only true for their online pre-ordering. Pre-ordering in one of their brick-and-mortars requires a $5 down payment, I think.
  15. Oh wow. That's cool. Thanks! :O

  19. I was mostly aiming toward resistance for smash/lethal. I haven't really noticed a problem with my recharge times (save for Cinders, and that would be a non-issue in the build I made), and without the extra hold I wanted more health insurance.

Your build would be nice, but I can't afford purples. The LOTG and uniques in my build are already making my wallet wince, but I can afford them much easier than I can a slew of purples.

Overall, it's an OK power. Not great, but unless you've got something better in mind to replace it . . .
Yeah. At this point, I think I'm leaning toward getting rid of it the next time I respec. There must be a different power I can choose in its place that would be of more use to me.

If you don't have the recharge for FF to be up for each mob, then i'd take Cinders on the off mobs.
I'm not on my Fire/Kin at the moment but I think it is up every mob at this point...maybe even before I finish off a mob.

  22. That, I'm not sure. Any suggestions on that? I plan to do pretty much exclusively farming with this toon. I have lots of other toons for teaming already, so I really don't need another one. lol

I just feel like I'm wasting a power point (not to mention the slots I have on it) because I rarely ever use Cinders. The fact it has such a long recharge period doesn't help, either.

I fiddled around with Mids some earlier while standing around in Atlas Park and managed to come up with (what I think is) a pretty good build. Whether or not it actually IS good, I have no idea. I'm horrible with builds on this game. Particularly when it comes to power sets I know next to nothing about (like these two).
