Well, I RP when and where I can... but as not many people in my SG RP much that ain't often. So if you wanna set something up i'm for it, let me know.

Not done much COH RP yet, but have been trying to for a while... got ignored (not the funtion, just not paid attention to) when I tried on uni, and when I got in my defiant SG I kinda devoted my play time to there.
  2. I'm on defiant, and an RPer... though don't get to do it much but all my toons have their own personalities just the same... I'd be up for some RPing!

I don't think of Samurai as being inherently more heroic/good either - I was under the impression their code of honour was more about loyalty/obedience than good/evil, and given the time period they're from I'm sure they carried out just as atrocious acts under (or because of) that code as any Ninja did.
This is absolutely right, the Shogun Oda Nobanaga was out for a ride in the forests around the Iga mountain range one day when his horse got spooked and through him off. Alone in the forest he became scared by what he perceived as shadowy figured and hushed voices stalking him. Although he made it back to his palace (or whatever) he decided that the people of that area were out to kill him, though most likely it was just his paranoid imagination. He sent his Samurai in to slaughter and man woman or child they could find. Those samurai commited many atrocities. The survivors petitioned the fudal lord of that region, Tokogawa Ishuwa, for help. they fought as ninja along side his own Samurai to battle and defeat Nobanaga and Ishuwa became the next Shogun of Japan. Ninja didn't just go around killing people like many people now believe, they were the equivilant of todays spec op service, like the SAS, Navy Seal etc. The were spys, messengers, and bodyguards as much as they were assasins. They just started as simple country folk who came up with imaginitive ways to arm themselves in order to protect themselves agains the samurai of corrupt fudal lords while living under a ban of anyone other than samurai being alowed to carry weapons. Hence much of the arsenal of a samurai began life as farming tools, like the nunchuku (a rice flail) And kama (a hand sickle) etc.

Also, just come up with a perfectly heroic RP reasoning for a necro MM Too, Take a character that can see and comunicate with the restless spirits of the dead, like the movies ghost town or the sixth sense, or the tv series Ghost whisperer etc. The spirits of the dead always pestering them about fixing things they didn't before dying or wanting revenge on thier murderers. Now give them an ability that now allows them to gain a physical body, be it inhabiting a dead body or some how transmuting their spiritual body into flesh in a limited fashion. The effect of this power only works while the spirit is near the character and looses effectiveness the further away from the MM. The MM doesn't have any real power over the spirit, but it is in the spirits best interest to work with the MM to accomplish what they desire.

Infact, I'm liking this idea I think i might just have to roll this toon when GR comes out!
  4. Hmmmm, as far as I was aware all it did was remove the untouchable status from him. My first attempt at him his regeneration was insane though the temp power was constantly used on him.

Ah, K. not had the need to look really since 9X, and then, as I alluded to in my post, I had to use a 3rd party one.

Oh, and just checked with vista, and nope, get "Windows cannot find 'clipbrd'. Make sure you typed blah balh bah...". So gues vista users have lost that handy little feature... or like everything else, it's been renamed!
  6. When you have a token avalible there is a button at the bottom, where it tells you how much the change cost, that will allow you to switch between using or not using the token. One peice of advise, only use the token for an expensive change rather than something cheep like just changing a colour or adding a cape.

The clipboard is the Windows clipboard. There is no way to view it without a 3rd party programme. (unless somehting has changed that i don't know about) But you don't need to know where it is. I just works. The clip board is a small part of the active memory/paging file where things are virtually stored when you copy anything under windows. Be it highlighted text, files or whatever (though technically files only store a marker in the clipboard). I Don't know if you still can but you used to be able to get 3rd party software that not only allowed you to use the clipboard but store multiple things in it, but windows, last time i looked doesn't have anything to allow this natively.

Mids works by posting it's build directly into the clipboard as a block of text as though you had just highlighted it and chosen copy (or hit CTRL+C) so all you have to do is place your cursor in the place you want to put it and right click and choose copy (Press CTRL+V). What is in the clipboard will stay there till you replace it by copying somehing else of the same type, in this case text.

The transgendered flag is actually slightly different - it is a light blue and pink with a white line in the middle

Though I don't remember seeing the flag before i am very familier with the Triskelion and it's connotations, and I must say, when I found out about the adoption of that symbol by the BDSM community it made me look at that Star Trek episode in a whole new light! LOL

well, i have no idea about the second, but the first features a triskelion, which a few years ago was adopted as the international symbol of the BDSM community.

    Boom Headshot!

ok, read this thread a while back (before the merge) and got inspired. So, I rolled myself up a shiney new archery/energy/munitions blaster to see if I could come up with something workable. And here it is. Didn't worry about the attacks in /energy much as I didn't intend to get in melee range. I took total focus as an emergency power to go with power thrust to escape any sneaky stalkers. I went munition ancillary for surveilence's nice def/res debuff and the second snipe in the form of LRM Rocket (ya know, just in case the first one doesn't do the job). out of the pre-requisite powers i went with body armour to gain that little extra protection in case of emergencies. Assault and tactics also give extra boosts to acc and damage.

Now, I don't do much PvP'ing outside of some friendly SG PvP nights so not really up on what's great PvP wise, but I can say I have had great fun soloing EB/AV's, especially on outdoor maps where I can use fly/hover to get a nice position out of range of returning fire. Now apart from a little bit of PL'ing on an SG team from 8-14 I soloed this toon up to 48 so far and have had great fun PvE with her and am looking forward to test her out on the next SG PvP night as my first 50, and nrg/nrg blaster seemed to often dominate on our PvP nights and this toon has had soo much more of an easier time of things so that i think she would be even beter in PvP.

    What do you guys think?

  13. ok, so rolled a new grav/rad troller after repeated frustrations trying to beat Kadabra Kill red side with my merc's MM. Now, I'm no expert with trollers or using mids so any advise or critiques are most welcome.

Am currently sat on L6 and had great fun soloing +3 LT's on the borders of AP through levels 3 to 5 before heading off to KR for my temp travel power. I think i'm on the right track power wise, it's more the slotting i'm not sure of. Have some purples in there, but also can replace with some less expensive sets till i can get them for a slight drop in set bonuses.

  14. yeah, I've had the "twitching" a lot, and the power side anims too, and not just on enemy mobs but also on players. And yes, as someone else said, being on a blaster and sniping to suddenly have a mob next to you and attacking. quickly select and hit a melee kb power to get them away and they are suddenly back were they started and thus out of melee range.

I've also seen the twitching with KB's foes, they hit hit and fly off in some random direction unrelated to the position of the KBing toon or direction of the attack then snapping back to where they should have KB'd to. And as the KBing blaster having foes being "Knocked back" at you is very disconcerting indeed and have prompted many expletives from me.

Thankfuly, though I've had this problem since I15, it does seem to be settling down now and don't have it as much! just hope it doesn't come back/get worse when I16 hits.

    Mender Silos TF

I bug reported this already, but will post it here too, see if anyone else has had it...

Last night me and 4 others from my SG decided to do the Mender Silos arc/TF in Ouroboros. We entered the first mish, defeat 2 raid leaders, and as soon as the last team member rezed on the map we get mission complete without moving from the entry crystal followed by a huge ambush. Didn't see Maniticore, nore any defeat dialogue, just mission complete... rest of task force went ok, except we didn't complete as we were not set up right for that last mish, last time i do a TF without cheching it out first! LOL

A bit off of joining the 600 club... only 537 blue side at the mo. but then only really been badging actively for just over a year while suffering terible altism. And i know i'll never hit top count... and i'm not bitter about never being able to have all vet badges, aniversary/event badges from before I joined, plus passport, bug hunter and the like, unlike some others I've seen on these (or at least the EU) boards.

I'm more annoyed about the fact that i'm running out of non-grind bagdes to get now. Got a hand full of defeats left, a few tf/trials, half the day jobs, 1000+ WW's and hand full of invents, other than that it''s grind grind grind for those badges! Ah well I'll get there!
  19. oh, i know it's gona be a long one, have tried a Doc Q one before, and the resty of the team gave up after the 3rd or 4th mish after i told them how many more were to go... we had been at it for like 2.5+ hours at that point. so, definatly a randome PuG TF :-)
  20. I'd love to do the SSTF's on my badger toon. So if there is room for an energy/energy blaster just send a tell to my global and let me know (@StAngelius).

You don't need to be in an SG to earn either of those 2(/3) badges you just don't benefit of the prestige bonus for the portal badge.

And as people seem to be suggesting I don't only log out at the base portal, I just do that one first as it seems to be the only location where you can work on a paired set for an accolade at the same time and being a horrendous altist it just makes sense for me to do so. And also, again, I was not saying I think it SHOULD be replaced, was just asking opinions, and the consensus is an obvious resounding no!
  22. A little trick you can do to get past a name that's taken on the server is just add a . to the name at the end or a - or . in the middle... It's not really noticeable much, and the only annoyance it can cause is if someone needs to type the name out for the purpose of tells or invites, and then it's just a case or seeing/remembering the full stop. I've done that on one or two of my toons and have never seen the toon that has the unmodified verison of those names running around my server (even on search) and if I did I would be prepared to change the name if it was a problem.

    g-a-y supergroup

I think some people have got the notion that anyone joining a LBGT SG would suddenly stop teaming, or interacting in any way with the rest of the general population. which isn't the point really. It's just like a social group to join where they can be open about who they are and talk freely without shouts of "That's not an appropriate (sp?) topic for a super hero MMO that kids might be playing!", like has already happened on this board.
  24. Hmmmmm, that is odd, 'coz,as i stated, it is a mish chain and they should just follow on from eachother. If you don't still have a part of the mish active I'd suggest filing a petition and seeing if a GM can advise you as to what the problem actually is.

Just on this thread alone, multiple posters have described themselves as not having anti-gay prejudices, but are opposed to LGBT-friendly supergroups, or think that LGB people flaunt their orientations when doing the same things that straight people do all the time.

What has happened is that a term referring to a group of people has been appropriated as slang to mean that something is bad. This is not the same as gay people using gay to refer to themselves as people with same-sex attractions, because previously, "gay" was used to refer to an emotion or a demeanor, and not a group of people, nor was it used by gay people in an insulting manner. I'm not sure how gay people adopting a positive identifier for themselves is comparable to heterosexual people using that word to mean "bad" after it's been thoroughly associated with gay people. In what world are these two events remotely equivalent?

It is true that language evolves, and that this is an example of language evolving. In this case, it's a matter of a positive word that is used to identify a group of people that is being changed to describe stuff as bad. You can't honestly pretend that the evolving usage has absolutely no connection to the existing usage.
Well, all I can assume Kali, is that when some people were at school they never witnessed, or more to the point, on the recieving end of abuse by bullies that, among many other things, slung around words like "Gay", "***", "****", "Queer", "Sissy", "Bender" et al purely as a means of putting down anyone who didn't fit their idea of masculinity (which as far as I could tell meant picking on the kids less likely to fight back). It is from that playground usage that the new use of this term has evolved, not some completely seperate term with a word just pulled out of thin air. Yes, some people who use it now may not be aware of the why's and where's of the term and it's origin, but that doesn't stop people who were the victims of this sort of bullying remember and have feelings about it.
