Hubby and I got Dell Inspiron 1545 with upgraded vid cards (cost $580 each) for Christmas and they work fantastic for CoH. If you decide to order one that is 'built to order' like Dell is (other places as well) just have your list of CoH recommended hardware, not just minimum requirements, and tell them you want to make sure the laptop will meet all those requirements. Thats what we did and they had to upgrade our vid cards for that purpose, but otherwise, the computers came with everything needed. Best of luck!

Thanks for the info everyone, and yay Guardian still has raids, so hubby can deck out his primary character like he wants
We may check a few out on a few servers to see which are the most successful and easiest and most fun.

My husband, myself and our two sons have just returned to the game from over a year away. We want to make new characters to relearn the game, but also find a good place for taking some 50s to Hami raids. Is there a particular server that has the most, or easiest to become part of, hami raids? Our home hero server is Guardian, and our home villain server is Pinnacle, but we are not opposed to switching to another server for Hami raids. Its been well over a year since we've participated in any, so I'm not even sure what our servers offer, just thought I'd pop in here and ask to see what's happening and where
Thanks for your time! -
My husband has an energy/energy blaster and whenever we play with that particular duo (superteam now that the kids have joined us) he always shouts 'BAM' with his powers.
I think it'd be nifty to have (that big long word I can't spell that means words that imitate their sound) to give him different things to say other than BAM BAM BAM all the time
I enjoyed the joke of it, but would also like to see it partially implemented! -

On Pinnacle, my husband and I have a very small villain group with all our Pinnacle characters in it (currently 24). The only characters in this villain group are ours, so they are all tied to either his or my global name. One of my characters created the group and immediately made one of his leader as well. Over the next few weeks - two years (random periods of creating characters, deleting them, recreating them, whatever) we would always put all our characters, at lvl 1, in the group. Because we only play our villains once in a blue moon, the 'leader' character isn't likely to stay leader long. We also haven't really paid a lot of attention to this aspect of it in 3-6 months, but back then, whichever character would log on after the previous leader had been demoted would become the new leader. It worked very much on a 'first come first promoted' basis.
My point is this. Above, someone mentioned that their leader was absent for 15 days, and another one of his characters who had been absent for 14 days was promoted. I'm thinking...does it perhaps have to do with global first? I know the devs mentioned ages ago that they might explore making SGs global based so that the 75 cap wasn't so harsh (now thats been abandoned and they popped the cap to 150) but could there be code in there somewhere looking at global for promotions?
In our villain group example, we have nobody of any other globals in there to use to test it, just my husband and I, but my thought is perhaps it goes by 'next of the same global as demoted leader who hasn't passed the demote time frame' and then, if that isn't available, perhaps defaults back to the 'join date seniority' method? If anyone has any more information on if this is possible or proof that it is not, lets see if we can nail down exactly what is happening so that any future petition regarding it is clear, concise, and knowledgable.
Until a redname posts about this, I don't see how we can pin it down except through cooperation and comparison, certainly not through arguing amongst ourselves -

Okay show of hands, who has done that 40+ish carnie mish where the warehouse is all decked out? Like the skulls dance club one in the low lvls but with carnie stuffs. Thats what I want. Our SG is called The Professionals, so it may not be appropriate for very many rooms (partying professionals?) but I would love to get my hands on some of that stuff. And I agree that anything thrown by propel should be up for grabs, POOL TABLE!

Name: The Professionals
Motto: "Sometimes it may be personal, but its always business."
Leader(s): @Red Beauty, @Spitfire Flash, Null Prime, Mistress Bolt (don't know if those two want me to list their globals so I won't)
Player Type: Mostly casual play, we'll even switch characters to join in with other SG members, we do have a few power gamers who have helped us with prestige for our base
RolePlay?: Not sure about roleplay, mostly we just all act like ourselves, sometimes we get a little goofy (okay, if you end up with 3 or more of us on a team, I can guarantee goofiness will ensue).
Membership levels: 1 - 50
SuperGroup Colours: Scarlet and Silver
Normal time of Gameplay: Evenings, weekends, some daytime
Other information: The Professionals was formed in June of 05. Our base is fully outfitted with plenty of stuff to help out members. We really enjoy teaming together and, regardless of the AT's or lvls, we'll make it a point to run a SG team and help out members just to have fun (xp is a byproduct).
Recruiting?: We are always recruiting, but 99% of the time we only recruit from people we play with. We try not to step on toes by asking people to leave their SG and come to ours, but if we find a really fantastic player, we don't feel it hurts to ask if they are happy with their group
Website: The Professionals Website
EDIT: We do hope to run something special for our 3 year anniversary coming up in a few months, so keep an eye out for us! -
Ok I've seen some really cool ideas on this small base thread. Our hero base is enormous, so its on the other thread, but I cannot wait to get home later today and get some pics of our small villain base (on Pinnacle) and post them. It is by no means done, in fact, we play villains so rarely, the only prestige we had to work with was the original 15 members * 20k each bonus and the christmas bonus, so its kinda sad so far, but a couple of the rooms are jazzed up and, you know me, I love to show them off
Our villains group consists of only me with my 12 characters on that server and hubby and his 12 characters on that server, so prestige earning is slow and tedius, but we'll get there eventually. Oh, and we have overflow heroes on Liberty that need their tiny little base snazzed up! And the kids base on Victory needs help! Ya'll just keep feeding me ideas and I'll just keep spending prestige wherever I can!
EDIT: Renegades, Rebels and Rogues, Pinnacle Server (villains) -
Its rather simple compared to some I've seen, but I need to hold off redecorating, the members might lynch me if I move the telepads and/or beacons one more time.

Name: The Professionals
Motto:Sometimes it may be personal, but it's ALWAYS business.
Leaders: Red Beauty, MiniatureMenace, Null Prime]
Player Type: Friendly and fun group of mostly casual gamers. We have many alts and are almost always willing to switch to team up with SG members, although sometimes we do have a bee in our bonnet about leveling up certain characters.
Playing Times: SG events are generally planned for weekends, but there are normally people on during most weekday evenings, some during the day and morning as well (sometimes).
Roleplay: We are just ourselves, not particularly roleplay, but some of our characters do have personalities
Membership Levels: We have people from lvl 1 and 2 up to lvl 50.
SG Colours: Royal Purple and Royal/Navy Blue (its a cross between royal blue and navy blue)
Other information: We like to get together and have fun. Gaining XP is not always the most important thing, although sometimes it is. If you have any questions about AT's or powersets, there is generally someone in the group who can answer knowledgably. If you're looking for a place to make friends and have fun, give us a peek.
Recruiting: We are always looking for fresh faces to add to the fun. If you are interested, check out our website.
