Hi Darkfaith and thanks for answering!
Yes, I checked out the Titan forums and finally saved it to my desktop and then right-clicked it and ran as administrator.
I appreciate your help, Darkfaith! -
Hello all,
I went to http://www.cohplanner.com and downloaded the most recent Mids planner.
I went to install it and get an error stating that it can't write to the file? I am given three choices: Abort, Retry, Ignore. I tried "Ignore" and nothing happens.
Is it because I have Windows 7? Or am I missing something else?
Thanks for any advice. -
Quote:Lewis, thanks very much for taking the time to respond. I'll definitely give that a try.I'm not sure. I have the luxury of being a Fire/TA Controller, so I just about can't avoid setting it off. However, I believe it is simply another enemy on the battlefield. Therefore, you should be able to custom target it:
/bind shift+o target_custom_next "Oil Slick"
Replace shift+o with whatever key combination you prefer, and make sure the name of the slick on the battlefield is actually "Oil Slick". I never think about it or look that close. Anyway, that *ought* to do it. Its at least worth a try.
Lewis
I've never thought about trying a fire/TA... seeing as how Fire is my favorite type of controller, you'd think I'd give this a shot!
And maybe I will! LOL -
Hello all,
Well, got my TA/A to level 27 and loving OSA. It's just a fun power and the damage is icing.
I'm wondering if any TA/* defender can offer any advice for targeting the Oil Slick easily? I find myself shooting it and then fumbling to try to find it so I can ignite it with my tech origin power/taser.
Any other tips for TA/A in general would be appreciated...
Including a good attack chain?
Thanks much for any advice! -
Thanks very much, Gypsy. Much appreciated!

Hello all,
I've browsed through Announcements and I also tried a failed search for "issue 17" and neither resulted in anything worth mentioning.
Just wondering if there's a location I can check for what I can expect in Issue 17? I've heard various rumors and wanted to get information right from the horse's mouth.
Thanks for any help! -
Ah! Okay....thanks, Aggelakis, and Catwhoorg, for your help!
-
Quote:Ah! Okay... thanks for the clarification, Aggelakis.No. Inactive accounts get a free four-ish days of play time (Thursday through Sunday). There is no way to cancel the account. It's already canceled. It's just active and will automatically go inactive tonight.
Do I reactivate it just as I would normally? Go into that account and "Reactivate" it? And if I chose to kept it permanently active, how would one go about doing that? -
Thank you all for your input. I appreciate your taking the time to respond.
Catwhoorg, thanks for your kind offer. I may take you up on your offer!
Tanstaafl, that's a good idea about using my 2nd account this weekend. Do they mean that by free re-activation, that if I cancel my account before tonight (Sunday), I'm not charged a full month's fee?
Again... thank you all for your help! -
Hello all,
This is directed to players who are the only characters in their SG.
I'm wondering how you go about recruiting your new characters? Do you just broadcast for some kind soul to do it and hope that they don't rob you blind (from your racks, etc.)?
Or how do you go about allowing permissions so that your new toons can then access salvage racks, etc.
I once had TWO accounts and this worked, but to pay another $16.23/month JUST so I could get my characters in my SG didn't seem financially feasible to me.
Just wondering how others get around it.
Thanks for any tips! -
I can see both sides of the argument... as there have been times I have been SBed when I really haven't wanted it. The thing is, I just continue playing. I guess in my life of professional deadlines, utility bills, rent, mortgage, grocery shopping, dodging through traffic, waiting IN traffic, screaming kids, etc... having somebody Speed Boost me in a GAME isn't traumatic for me. *shrug*
I'm not underplaying anybody's frustrations, for the record. I know each person has different tolerance levels... none are better/worse than the others. I'm just saying, if I started getting my blood pressure up because somebody thought they were being kind to me, then I think I need to re-evaluate if this is the game for me. There are plenty of ways to entertain myself with solo-only games.
That being said, it would be VERY nice if the developers would come up with a way to either a) right-click a buff and remove it or 2) set it up so that there's a prompt (much like teleportation.
But that's a proverbial dead horse that has had many a baseball bat broken over it. -

I hope this is a relevant question for this thread:
If I decide to purchase the MA Booster Pack... is there a recommended way to slot other powers (Sprint, Hurdle, Swift, etc.) to get the most benefit from Ninja Run?
Or is it great right out of the box... no other slotting needed?
Thanks for any help. -
Hello all,
On September 28, 2009 I received my 54 month badge... so I figured that I'd receive my 57 month badge on December 28, 2009.
I checked my account and it says that I'll be receiving it on January 28, 2010.
Obviously a glitch... I'm wondering if I should inquire about this in-game with a petition or which email address should I contact regarding this?
Thanks for any help! -
Thanks, Shecky and I wholeheartedly agree... better safe than sorry!
I guess I just wish there was a setting where I can tell Windows, "Hey look...this program is okay... he's with me." or such.
-
Okay, after doing some searching, I found this...
http://www.msfn.org/board/faq-uac-pa...ml#entry899206
And it seems to work! No more prompt. -
Quote:Ah, okay, that makes sense. Thanks, Zombie Man, for answering.Yes. If the updater itself is updated, it won't know what to do.
And I *think* you have to revert to the correctly named updater for patches.
*sigh* I guess I'll just have to deal with the prompt. There are more frustrating things in life than this, eh? -
Quote:Sadly, I believe you're right. It'd be nice, certainly. But over the years most of the Windows problems I've seen were user-related. Too trusting, too willing to download any ol' thing, too eager to engage in high-risk activity, etc.
You know those phishing emails that claim a prince or someone in Nigeria wants you to have millions of dollars of their money? Guess what! My mother and brother both work with a lady who's husband fell for that, sadly. Hell, one of my friends almost fell for a phishing email because he was super-tired one night and was going through his emails @_@
I'd love an exceptions list. I'm just afraid that most people would make everything an exception.
I found one tweak to try to allow COHUpdater.exe to be trusted, but the tweak didn't work...
So I still wonder... will renaming "cohupdater.exe" to just "COH" cause any problems down the road? -
First off, I want to thank you all for answering.
So, there's no harm in just renaming cohupdater.exe to COH? I thought it had to have the .exe extension to run?
I, too, am disappointed/surprised they don't allow for an option... "Trust this program in the future" or such. -
Hello all,
Anybody know of a way to have Windows 7 ALWAYS trust/allow Cityofheroes.exe to run without the annoying pop-up to appear?
It says that the publisher is "unknown". How do I make it "known" so that I can run the game without having to agree to let it run?
Gotta love Microsoft. -
Please forgive this silly question...
Is Virtue still down?
I only ask because I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 and I'm not sure if I can't get in the game because the server is down or because evil Microsoft Gremlins are treating my computer like Paris Hilton at a New Year Eve's party.

Quote:Louisville Leo?Okay, I'm sure this will be particularly easy for you creative people.
I need a one-word adjective that describes someone who fights crime using a baseball bat (axe) and a manhole cover (shield). It will be used in the form <Adjective> Leo. For example, my other characters are Doctor Leo, Archer Leo, Radioactive Leo, Slicer Leo (claws scrapper)... I just can't think of a single word adjective that describes "beats up things with a baseball bat and blocks attacks with a manhole cover".
Edit: Darn... Nuclear Toast beat me to it! -
QuiJon and Catwhoorg, thanks so much for taking the time to answer.
I'll give that a shot! -
This morning I logged on to find that I can't create a Peacebringer or Warshade. They're grayed out.
I do have level 50s on that account.
I checked the bugs forum and the announcements forums and found nothing about it and just wondering if anybody else is experiencing similar problems?
Thanks much!
