  1. I11: The Isolator badge. That's all you get.
  2. Friends don't let friends use the "Random" button.

That's the purpose of this thread

To give people some ideas, who have no creative ability whatsoever.

What I'm also saying, is people are welcome to copy my costumes. I used to get bent outa shape when I'd see someone appear in Atlas, where I'd been standing, with a replica of my character. Now it's more of a form of flattery to me.

Took me 3 years.. but you know... people change

Today I'll be living out Auto Assault's last hours until midnight tonight. R.I.P Auto Assault http://www.gamingfascist.com/aa-rip.divx

But tomorrow, I'll go back to digging into the costume creator, finding more gimmicks and styles I haven't listed yet.
  3. fun with full masks.

Same technique I used for this costume. I liked the results. Never thought I would.

The eye masks lines can match up with the head details pretty well by matching the base color.

used it on this one too.

Love it or hate it, I still think it's worth mentioning.
  4. Alright, I got a PM requesting some Female costume Ideas. I don't really play female characters and when I do, they always somehow end up half naked.

Being straight probably limits me to that, lol, but here's a female only gimmick that I've discovered so far. Most of you probably already know this by now, but if you cover up the top of half of a bikini with a belt, it looks like they lines connect underneath. Your imagination connects the lines for you.

Pretty neat? This one could have potential too.

I'll post more gimmicks as I find them again. Some I haven't used in a long time, but they'll come back to me.

    In the meantime, enjoy.
  5. Hey if you guys can, I'd like to see some of the costumes you've come up with if this thread gave you any ideas. I'm always looking for inspiration as well.

Woah.. NICE!! i love the creative ways you made costumes look so unique... But one question.. How did you get vanguard costume pieces?? Vet reward? Or i just cant find it. Whats it under?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Vanguard pieces can only be earned through merits. But you can't start earning them until you hit 35 (which is when you can enter the zone).

P.S. Thanks for the kind responses guys you made my day.
  7. Well make sure you click the link at the bottom. I have more costumes uploaded than I have linked in the post. The link at the bottom where it says "check out" takes you to the photobucket folder where they're at.
  8. Pretty much all my costumes are built around symmetry, which is a weakness of mine. It's hard for me to make a somewhat abstract costume and actually keep it. But if you like symmetry, costumes that flow and contrast, I have some ideas you can all copy.

Now aside from symmetry, I'm a very unorganized person, so I'm just going to list my ideas and schemes in bullet points.

Soulie's mental limits of making a costume. (some of you may not like my style, but I hope you like my observations anyhow).

These are methods I use to create unique costumes.

    - Use 3 or more colors. They don't have to be balanced. Subtlety is best in my opinion. Even if the third color is just black, white or gray, I must end up with at least 3 colors.

    - Contrast and complimentary colors. When making your color scheme, make sure your colors look good next to each other and as a whole. This costume uses about 5 colors. Red and Blue are good contrasting colors and dark gold seems to match up as well.

    - Focal points. Sometimes it's good to only have 1 point on your costume that has a lot of contrast, making it stand out. This costume's focal point is obviously it's visor. Your costume could also have more than one focal point like here . The blue and red areas are separated by white, which almost divides the focal points into 4 areas.

    - Symmetry in colors. Personally, I don't like to see colors bleed into each other, so I separate them with a contrasting color. Take this costume for example. Notice that I have gold keeping the dark orange away from the blue and white. It's a very simple design, yet flows well when you look at it.

    Here's another example.

And now on to the random stuff.

    - Themes are good, whether you like pointy , schoolgirls , outlaws , military , bugs , or uhhh... you're just bored.

    - Here's my try at being Asymmetrical and Abstract.

    Minor Tips and Gimmicks

    - Some stripe patterns blend with textures

    - Some things can look like they fit if you cover them up with say... an earpiece

    - Overlapping. This celtic chest detail can be used to overlap the chest pattern to make it look unique. I used the dark parts and patterns on this costume to make a giant X on his torso.

    - I always enjoy when new costume pieces come out, because theres a chance they look great mixed with other parts. here's a good example. The vanguard visor works great with the samurai mandible. The glowing eye aura really gives it an attitude as well. Glowing eyes also look good with this visor. Gotta love the things you can do with Vanguard hats.

    - The Cover Up. Can't get the colors to match up on your boots and gloves ? You can try making them folded and the color matches just fine.

You're all welcome to check out all my costume ideas I have uploaded. Feel free to steal and copy anything you see here.
  9. I stopped caring about the Comic, as soon as they stopped sending them to my house.

Reading them in book form and in PDF form are two VERY different things.
  10. 7 months... and all we get for a lvl 50 pvp zone is a rehash of Atlas Park? What a joke. I'm glad I didn't renew my account.
  11. I've never written a guide before, so I'm sorry if it's not well constructed or organized. I just want to give some /device blasters a few tips on hunting stalkers. I'll just make a few points. You can take them and apply them how you want.

    1. Range > Melee. Stalkers must be in melee range to hit you with AS. Put a couple range enhancements in each of your attacks and you can even stay out of reach from their placate.

    2. Web grenade and caltrops are your friend. Put a couple ranges in web grenade to ground those slippery stalkers. The only stalker that can get away from this are stalkers with teleport. If they're almost dead, try to snipe them before they get out of range.

    3. SJ+hover. Seems odd I know, but fly just isn't fast enough to keep up with anything. SJ gives you the vertical and forward speed you need to catch up with someone. Hit hover right before you begin your snipe. Right as snipe goes off, shut off hover and unload on your opponent as you plummet towards him. Most of the time, they'll have no time to react since it all hits 'em at once.

    4. Tactics+Targetting Drone. Stacked perception is really nice against stalkers. Even if the stalker has stacked stealth, you can see 'em within 20/30 feet. Put at least 2 tohit buffs in both tactics and targeting drone. Put 3 in each and your attacks will hit right through their defenses 90% of the time. If you take AIM, that can even bust through those masterminds with PFF.

so there ya go. Hope this helps the /dev blasters.
  12. I know I've seen a website a while back with a list of all the CoV contacts and their missions, but now I can't seem to find it. Can anyone help me out?
  13. So wait... Hell froze over and NO ONE told me!!? GOSH!!!

    *sigh*

Let's see if I can lay this thing to rest.

At I5 - and now again with ED - some claim that the game is "dying" and that thousands of players are leaving. This isn't true. We're actually gaining customers. Not hundreds of thousands, but we're gaining nevertheless.

Then all of a sudden I read Armsman's post where he talks about our original launch subscription numbers - which isn't really the point. My entire response on this thread has been focused to I5 and ED reaction - so the more pertinent number to look at would be what our numbers were just previous to I5...not our numbers just after launch. Never did I make a claim that we have more subscribers now than we did last year. My point continues to be: ED and I5 haven't created a ghost town out of City of Heroes.

Unfortunately, I pointed to SirBruce's outdated chart instead of NCSoft's numbers. Frankly, SirBruce's is the one I go to - it lists the competition, so to speak. Or at least to a degree. As SirBruce will tell you, it's really difficult to get numbers out of publishers. NCSoft posts ours.

Why is WoW or Lineage doing so much better? Heck - they're great games. But they're also successful in the Asian market. Will we ever catch up to them. Dunno. The WoW guys have a bit of a track record on us...years of producing amazing games. Who ever heard of Cryptic before City of Heroes? There are LEGIONS of Blizzard fans - of course they'd play WoW! And it's a phenomenal game!

he sighed! he must be weak! quickly, finish him off!! Then he can go back to playing WoW
  16. You mean, we finally get to fight Statesman!!? MAN! I've been waiting for this day since issue 4!
  17. Well this idea sucks for me and my sg. I have an SG uniform that doesnt require someone to be in SG mode to use it. But when we team as an SG, we all wear it.

Wish someone woulda told us this earlier. That way, I wouldn't have spent so much time trying to build up influence over the last few months.

Is there any possible way we can make a 5th costume slot for a SG uniform, and get prestige when players wear it?...... yeah prolly not huh
  18. Sovereign Allegiance is open to all types of players. We're always looking for active, mature players who will help their fellow SG mates. Most of us participate in PvP and I plan on hosting PvP events with other supergroups or teams in the near future.

We also have our own Ventrilo (voice chat) server and forums for members to use. Ventrilo helps players while teaming and improves their over all gaming experience.

Sovereign Allegiance has a fantastic Supergroup costume that members can wear at level 20 if they choose.

I have some big things planned for this SG. With the release of CoV closing in, I can't wait to design a base and even make a Villain chapter of Soveriegn Allegiance.

I'd love to hear from you all. If you're a roleplayer, casual player, powergamer or just have a question, please send me a message @Soulie. You may also go to our website and leave me a message there also.

Thanks for taking the time to check us out!

the devs are really shooting themselves in the foot here.
  20. Sorry you didn't have a great experience with the arena man. But I dunno what you expected from it. Some things will be changed to even the playing field a bit, but your complaints seem to be that people wont just sit there in front of you with their guard down and let you pound on them. Try brainstorming and find a weakness to every opponent you face. There is no such thing as invincible. I've seen SR scrappers get taken down several times.
To be honest, the arena isn't even as awful as i thought it would be. I was almost expecting Counterstrike meets MMO's. I expected to be cussed out and had rude comments toward my mother be thrown at me lol. The only example of bad sportsmanship I've seen so far was in a match with some members of Evolution. I play on Virtue and most of them know who i am. A few of them hate me. Of course i joined their match and they all ganged up on me over and over. And after the match one of them sent me a tell that said "suck it".
So moral of the story is.... kids and adults play this game and its hard to avoid the rude lil kids, but if the arena frustrates you that much, just stick with PvE... I know several people who are doing just that.
  21. PVP!! then i can challenge Y2KING to a duel for trying to get me banned :-D
  22. i have a power that does that for me.. its called "phase shift"... i dont need no stinking badges!
