  1. DaosX is pretty intense. And he skirts the edge of what DA will allow.

That said, he's also one of the best 'airbrush' style illustrators on DA. I love his work.

    A taste

    BWAHAAHA!!

    That's pretty good!

And your draring skillzors are teh radical, too.

  3. OOoooooooo......

Thank you thank you!! She looks great!
    /em kuji-in-rin-salute

Yeah I thought I recognized the name, and the bio clinched it.

(And I agree that the female version of the armor is not feminine enough...)

  4. for vector art, I was a big fan of Corel Draw for the longest time.

But... along came Macromedia Fireworks, which is kinda stripped down, but it does what it does very well. You can tell it's a web graphic program, designed to interface with dreamweaver, flash, shockwave, etc etc.

These days, I do all my dabbling in GIMP, Poser 5, Bryce, and the occasional nostalgic foray into POV-Ray. But, I'm not a painter. I'm more of an architect... connect the dots, apply textures, set up cameras, that sort of thing.

All the post-production work I leave to the pros.

    Not Frank but... *ahem*

My guitar wants to kill your momma...

Maybe I was just stupid enough that year to like that song. *giggle*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Frank performed that one too. It's on the "Strictly Commercial" greatest hits CD.
  8. Zappa is... an acquired taste.

On the one hand, some of his work sounds like circus clowns on acid. on the other (especially anything from the posthumous "Guitar" release, alll instrumental work compiled and put out by his wife and sons) he's effing amazing.

Can we go back to the fact that someone had to google a GnR song please?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Funny, I was listening to this song on my iPod when I asked a friend if he liked it. He said he never heard of the song, and I was baffled. Then I asked if he even knew who Guns n' Roses was....... he didn't.

    Britney Spears FTL.

A moment of silence please while we all weep for humanity's future.

I lost faith in humanity long ago....

    As did I.

WAAY too many people look at me funny when I mention Walter Becker, David Clayton Thomas, the Porcaro brothers, or Frank Zappa.

    ---------------------
Becker - one-half of Steely Dan
D C T : vocalist for Blood Sweat and Tears
Porcaro brothers: studio keyboardist and drummer, showed up on a lot of 70's and 80's releases
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention: where a LOT of good musicians got their start, and probably the best composer and guitar virtuoso to not get played on the radio much.
  10. Man I'm going to have to start using this stuff too.
  11. WOW.

That really pops. Wraith, you kicked [censored] on the coloring.

  12. *goes off and hides his Motor City Online beta-test screenshots*

What? It was a fun game... if you were a car nut.

  13. In the interests of keeping you as pain-free as possible, I shall refrain from glomping you.

Uh.... "Who's On First" wasn't performed by the Three Stooges.

    Abbott and Costello.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Same genre?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Old black-and-white film clip comedy/burlesque? yeah.

I'll have to find those bind files that I had set up for my mastermind. Distilled the entire "who's on first" routine down to petsays and emotes between two of her robots.

Performed it in the D for some friends on Triumph (Hi Dollhouse!) and was told to stop doing things like that because people were spitting softdrinks onto keyboards and such. Repeatedly.

But I'm evil. So I don't listen when I'm told not to do evil things. BWAHAHAHAAH!

"So when it's time to get paid, who picks up the first baseman's check?"

    "No his wife does."

    "Whose wife?"

    "Yes."

"Whose wife picks up the check?"

    "That's right."

    "....."
  15. oh that's CUTE.... awww!!!!
  16. Oh that's really spiffy. I like the sun logo too.

  17. Uh.... "Who's On First" wasn't performed by the Three Stooges.

    Abbott and Costello.
  18. holy sch-moley.

    That's freakin' amazing.

  19. juggs.... you're encouraging my participation in WAAY too many different things, here.

Yanno, just to cover the bases.

    Wow.

    Just.... wow.

I'm jealous of you, man. Can we trade moms for a bit? Mine's really outdoorsy, but she's kinda.. opinionated... about a lot of things... and she's an old-school Democrat... and....

  21. BWAHAHAHA!!! The facial expression and the madly waving arms say everything! All that's missing is the bottle-brush "OK now i'm MAD" kitty tail!

  22. OK.

On the gallbladder op: Don't worry, you'll be fine. In ages past, yeah, it'd have been major. But now, no big deal. *hugs*

On the artwork: what you mean you didn't get the foreshortening down? That looks really good!

You might want to atually bring the front foot up a bit, and/or do some detail work to indicate that the boot sole is visible, and MAYBE adjust the taper of that leading thigh and knee and such to allow for foreshortening... but not much, you're really close!

Also you can give subtle hints as to what direction the character is moving (up, down, sideways) by the way the flag is being 'blown'. The way it is now, it looks like she's jumping slightly to the left... but the body posture suggests straight forward or maybe even a little to the right. If the flagpole/halberd gets in the way when you do that, you can always incline it forward or off to the side, to give you more freedom to work with the flag 'drape'.

(( can't draw human figures for shyte, but did a LOT of perspective study drawing in school... yay for straightedges and protractors!))

  23. Seriously man, she's looking REALLY good.
