Well, I get that, but I'm just wondering why it's ONLY Virtue.. Couldn't he let everyone in, and just post it in the Virtue forums so that they would see it? Or something of the sort? I just don't see how it's bringing people together if only half of the people can participate...

Maybe by posting on the Virtue forum, it'll bring people to the art forum? Posting on other sites surely would bring people here, why not other threads within the forum?
He, as the artist, is choosing themes of a sort for different months. He chooses to pay tribute to someone on his main server for this one month. His art, his choice.
Move along, please...there are more months in the year than just March.

Well Derek if he posted this contest for just the Fanart section thats leaving alot of people out too no?
So what I'm thinking he's doing is:
January - Guru
Febuary - Fanart section
March - Virtue
April - hmm maybe DeviantArt
May - General section of these forums
June - Game section
July - Roleplaying section
etc etc etc..
This way when ya look at the calendar it's a representation of the entire community instead of just the fanart section. Get it?

Yeah I think it's like TA put it ... plus ... when you think about it ... if wanted to go to his next door neighbour and ask them to create a toon in CoX so he can use it for April ... it's really his prerogative ... we are just along for the ride.
Then again ... he could open it here every month and post it somewhere else too and completly ignore his post here which would give us the impression that we had a chance and he would still be doing it the way he wants to do it. At least this way, we know where we stand.
We will get chances at more free art anyway ... just hang around

Honestly, I chose Virtue for a couple of reasons 1) It is the only server I play on 2) I just got to lvl 50 (with a lot of help of the people there) 3) This month was themed, and I know Virtue is "the un-official RP server" 4) I plan to jump arond to different forums with different prizes.
I hope that clarifies things a little.
I didn't make it open for all - becasue I basically didn't want to spam all te forums with the same message.

I didn't see anything that said it had to be exclusively people that post here frequently... What I'm saying is, if he posted it on the Virtue forums, so the Virtue people would probably get to post first and stuff, but others would be able to post and get it too. I dunno. Just a thought.
I really hope no one comes down on each other for this. I think Derek asked an honest question, and I hope he understands my answer.
Honestly Derek, I didn't post the exact same post in this forum and others because in the past I've had my posts deleted/moved if they were too similar. I've had art threads deleted from the server forums, and I thought I'd walk the line a little more carefully this time.
Ok, it has come to my attention that not everyone noticed my contest for March.
January was one I did for the CoH Guru boards
February was for this forum (which, of course, you should be using as your current desktop)
But that brings us to March. I'm sorry to say that some people might not be able to enter this one.
Have no doubt though, they'll be more (hopefuly themed) contests coming as the year goes on.
