Quote:will i have to keep the graphics on performance, because im fine with that im just really tired of the chippy graphics on 5-8 person teams. just curious if it will be better then my Windows Media Center Edition with its Raedon XPress 200 seriesThe processor, hard drive space and RAM are fine. The only thing that looks iffy about your setup is the graphics card, which is integrated. Integrated graphics chips are built into the motherboard and won't provide performance as well as dedicated graphics cards can. Your computer will run the game, but the lack of a dedicated graphics card is a big hindrance.
btw i figured out the video card its a (Generic PnP Monitor on Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family, not sure what that means but i hope u can tell me if its decent or not -
the yellow line train, its north-west of the atlas park statue, youll see it, but its kinda high up, what i dont understand is how did u see it, if u already went to Perez, usually you'd have to pass it, or at least be in sighting distance of it to be in Perez.

well virtue is the second largest, and dont know bout Victory, but what lvls? because lvls 20-40 seem to experience the largest team loss, not 100% sure though, all i know is that the CoX population has decreased since the last year and NO ONE can doubt that, i blame CO, but im not sure what the real cause is.

Quote:the buff primary also means that 1: our damage is competing with TANKERS, not scrappers, because of the relative survivability and 2: we can leverage damage enhancement more strongly.
I solo my Defenders just fine, thank you. And the AT power is pretty useful really. None of the hero powers are earth shattering.
We can do everything a Corruptor can do and then some, too. You're acting like red numbers are the alpha and omega of all value in any AT. News flash: It's not.
Controllers are usually too busy controlling and choking down blues to use their buff powers to full effect, even if they had the slots to spare on getting them fully kitted out. MM's have even lower buff numbers, and even if they aren't massively end-heavy like the 'trollers are, they have an army of idiot pets to herd; they generally don't have time to buff the whole team too unless everyone is very patient.
...Which brings their damage output up to about where ours is... Laughable times two doesn't necessarily equal amazing. I can't seem to get my controllers to substantially out-DPS my main, who is a FF Defender.
The Kin Defender. They're probably going to be a better teammate, especially since so many /Kin 'trollers are 'lolhotfeet' and get everyone killed with their immobilizes.
I hear this all the time, and it's no more true now than it was before. If teammates are plowing along, mildly scuffed up but pretty much otherwise unhurt by the huge amount of stuff that is not damaging them, that's a good job of Defending. I sometimes have to pull out the stops when it hits the fan. A couple people in the red and i'm cracking recharge boosters, dropping the kitchen sink. I don't want to be flatlining my blue when i'm doing that, and I have better things to do with my slots on those powers than putting them in end redux.
See, that word 'but' means "I do not like Power Proliferation". Cold is no longer monopolized with i16. Viva la difference. It's not like Controllers even slot or use those powers in the same way as Defenders do. You say 'there is nothing that makes a Defender better" but there is; they have it as a Primary and have bigger buff numbers. The advantage is not insubstantial; the difference between almost softcapping someone's def and getting them about halfway there is pretty huge. Get the memo, you even said it earlier!
No, nobody 'omgneeds' buffs. They're an edge; a big one. Godmode is always in demand. Defenders work fine. Get off your panic attack and play the dang game.
well my concern is solo-play, defender solo play is terrible our AT power is 100% team needed, and now the population of CoX is soo low, i can onlyb play on the Freedom server, because thats the only one where i am guarunteed to actually find other people, i find this ridiculous -
bump, i would like some sort of comment, i dont know much bout computers, besides what i hear, anyone have anything?

Quote:I've played CoX for going on two years now. And never before have I had this problem: I can't find any teams. Just today I logged on my brute hoping to get in some missions for a while, only to find out no one in Cap au Diable wanted a level 17 brute on their team.
Why? They're all in AE, getting their powerleveling on, and didn't want to bother with a measly level 17 anything!
I can't play this game solo anymore, it's just so gosh darned B O R I N G. AE is ruining this game for the people who want to team with fellow players. Is there a solution to my problem?
actually i have to agree, but i think its a combination of multiple things, A) Champions is out, and DCUO is coming out soon, which means the general crowd that CoX attracted is moving away from the game, lessening the amount of people that play per day, honestly the overall population is the lowest i have EVER seen! i now can only play on the Freedom server, because all others seem almost barren, its ridiculous, plus it is partially AE's fault, some people play to play and not play to have fun, normal average teams i find most exciting, the hard stuff and the easy stuff, but nowadays with pickings soo slim i can understand y someone would want the whole "perma-PL" thing going on -
ok i finally got a new comp, confused how to use the search settings on it, but im confident i will figure it out ;p, well anyways its a Windows Vista with Intel Pentium in it, im not sure what sort of video card it has in it, but it does have on HP (C
426 GB free of 453 GB, and the FACTORY_IMAGE (D
has 1.76 GB free of 12.5, now im not sure if that means it'll run fast or not, im actually trying to see if you guys know ;p? now i had a 2005 Window Media Edition that sucked like crazy, it was old virus worn out and with a ATI Radeon 200 series, now i know thats kinda crappy, but does anyone know how to check video cards on Windows Vista, cause honestly i have no idea ;p. well i hope it runs good, it will be the first comp that can actually hold CoX properly for the first time, i might even be able to put my graphics seeting past minimum ;p
oh just figured out it has a Pentium(R) Dual-Core Proccessor, not sure if thats good but eh and it has 3.00 GB RAM -
Quote:i support this 100% percent, defenders from I1-I6 where my favorite AT, but i never play them anymore, damage sux, hp sux, theyre primary powers r solo-wise a joke for the most part, soloing with sonic/, ff, empathy, and soo on... its ridiculous, i dont c y anyone would even try to lvl one of these def's anymore, the Cox population is very low soo even if u were brave enough, theres a no garuntee anymore that youll be able to team 24/7 soo some days youll have to endure 1% a lvl everyone 2-4 hours because u cant kill squatNow before anyone starts to flame me I'm posting an honest oppinion and feel its something we have to discuss.
First, Defenders are not Obsolete, yet. Once the new expansion "Going Rogue" comes out we, the defenders, will be in competition with not only Controllers anymore for groups that require support. We will also have to compete with Corruptors and to a lesser extent, Masterminds.
Defenders are the only archetype that has "Buff" as a primary power selection. But at what cost? Extremely low damage (0.6 multiplier), poor soloing skills and a broken Archetype-power? Lets face facts people. Controller and Corruptors can do everything we can do and then some. Sure, their "Buff" powers have a lower multiplier but their damage is much better. Also, the Controllers have the ability to Hold, Confuse, and down-right stop the enemy from attacking the team in general, all the while having that lovely containment bonus. Corruptors are not that much better in the damage department but its still enough for them to out perform us. Masterminds also have supportive skills. They have Force Fields, the unique "Poison" power set and even a Healing set. So thats another contender for the support roll.
Over-all we're being phased out. If you had to choose between a Kinetic Defender and say, a Kinetic Controller who would you honestly go with for soloing, or even as an extra teammate. Once "Going Rogue" is available Masterminds and Corruptors will also be a notch above us. Masterminds bring damage and have better survivability and Corruptors have scourge. What do we have? An endurance discount?
Our Archetype-power (Vigilance) is almost worthless. First, most players pick up stamina, which greatly reduces the chance our Endurance will hit zero. Second, many primary power sets do not need the endurance discount. Kinetics has Transference. Empathy has Recovery Aura. Cold Domination has Heat Loss. Radiation Emission has Accelerate Metabolism. Force Field rarely needs endurance to operate. This leave very few Primaries that may actually have the need for it.
Another problem with Vigilance is that it rewards bad Defenders. If a Defenders team is dieing then they get the discount. If a Defender is doing their job very well then they don't get a discount. You simply cannot reverse this either. A Good Defender, with a team not in a crisis, would not need a Discount in the first place. A Bad Defender probably isnt capable of handling a Crisis with the Discount anyway. This is simply a bad design and doesnt help us Defenders out in any way.
Power Proliferation is something I really love and like to see but it is actually hindering Defenders. Dark Miasma and Cold Domination thus far are the only two primaries that Defenders have a monopoly of as of Hero Side. Agian, once "Going Rogue" comes out that will fade away. Corruptors have both and Masterminds have Dark Miasma. This wouldn't be a problem but once agian theres nothing that makes a Defender any better at Using Dark Miasma, Cold Domination and every other Primary besides a barely noticeable multiplier. To put it simply, we will no longer have "An Ace up our Sleeve"
Lastly, With Invention Sets and Set Bonuses, this allows many characters to "Balance out" their character, such as adding extra defense or resistance to a blaster. These bonuses make characters alittle more durable and unneeding of a pure support role at times. These characters are not completely support-proof but they do show that it is possible to get away without the use of buffs. The bonuses don't truly substitute for a good Force Field or a Sonic Barrier, but they do reduce the ammount of support needed in a group. sometimes a single Empathy-using Controller is all it takes for a Tank and a team of Blasters to handle a tough Taskforce. This is a small problem but it is still a hinderence on the use of defenders.
I would just like to ask the Developers what their future plans for the Defender are. So far our Coffin is ready for us, as Corruptors, Masterminds and Controllers can do their secondary job better than we can do our primary at times. I really do not wish to shelf my Defender, but at this rate, I may have to. Please help us, we don't want to become worthless. -
Quote:go away yur getting in my way of my +hp defender crusade!Earth to Crazy guy, hello there good Man,Woman or Man Woman,Defenders are fine as they are,Defenders are Support Toon, not tankers, blaster and Scrapper,if you play them well then you should not have any trouble. They Debuff,Heal and Buff, they only attack if they have no choice. They aren't blaster so they don't have to have alot of Damage outpot and they aren't Tankers or Scrapper and they take draw less Aggro so they be find with out alot of health.
btw i think that def needs to be equal to scrapps, but as far as dps i think it just needs to be tweaked slightly -
Quote:wtf? that ain't true, i play on Freedom and i c scrapps, blasts, cons, tanks, & defenders, in that order most-to-least seenActually, you're reading that entire analysis a bit incorrectly since you're citing popularity as "number of logins for each AT" rather than the more appropriate but completely unavailable "number of hours player for each AT".
Honestly, if you want a good gauge of real AT popularity insofar as playtime rather than timed logged in, you'd do best to simply take a few samples across all of the servers. Simply make a level 1 character, head in and check how many of each AT are playing at any specific time. In general, you'll find significantly more controllers on than any other AT. This is actually a more effective way to gauge AT interest because it actually accounts for how much people are actually willing to play the AT (or at least stand around while playing the character). -
gives defenders medium hp, like in the good ole'days, that how u will saved the defenders
-
Quote:screw u, i want my def to have medium hp, the good ole' days were the best, when buffer defenders <ff/ and now sonics> could actually survive, corruptors, if u havent noticed have much higher base damage then defenders, and the fact that defenders both have low hp and low damage output, is exactly the reason why pvp sux in CoX, honestly on red side, i ALWAYS aim for defenders, y because they r overall the weakest hero in pvp, tankers r almost impossible to kill, scrappers will kill me quickly, and r hard to kill too, controllers, will just cc-lock me to death, blasters have incredibly high dps, soo unless i have cc, i dare not mess with, but deffs, their hp sux, their dps sux, all i gotta do is avoid their debuffs<if they have any> and theyre dead in less then 5 secs, this has always been discouraging to me, because def's were always my fav AT, but atm they r 100% pvp insuffiecient, and if anyone wants to argue against that, take a lvl 30 sonics/dark def to siren's call, i personally gauruntee u will die in less then 30 seconds of being in the zoneThe ramblings of an escaped mental patient follow.
TL;DR - Increase defender base HPs to scrapper level and change their ranged damage mod to 0.8; Increase corruptor base HPs to blaster level and change their ranged damage mod to 0.9.
So I read this the other day, from Stormfront_NA:
First, let me get this out of the way. No, I cannot in any way PROVE that defenders are underperforming and need to be buffed in order to solve that problem. Hell, I don't think they are underperforming, therefore I am not proposing any changes for that reason.
I love defenders. I play several defenders reglarly. I find defenders fun on a team and I enjoy playing them solo from time to time (I'd enjoy soloing them more, if I did not keep thinking how much more awesome I would be with others around to benefit from my buffs/debuffs). I love corruptors. I play several corruptors. I find corruptors fun on a team and I enjoy playing them solo from time to time (I'd enjoy soloing them more, if I did not keep thinking how much more awesome I would be with others around to benefit from my buffs/debuffs).
Why should we change anything about either AT? Maybe they will become even more funner! Maybe even more people will find them appealing! Perhaps more players will feel more powerful and awesome! Who knows? Who cares? Let's just do it!
Defenders and corruptors need more hitpoints. These ATs are designed with AoE damage powers and will draw aggro. They are designed with many PBAoE powers to affect enemies, so they often need to get close to baddies. They are designed with many PBAoE powers to protect teammates, so they need to be close enough to enemies in order to keep melee allies inside the effect. It would be more fun if these ATs could utilize those powers with less fear and with more confidence in their ability to take some of that AoE splash damage and some return fire from any aggro generated by using their best AoE damage (and debuff) powers. Extra hitpoints will also ease solo play, allowing these ATs to survive the longer battles their slightly lower damage engender. Since defenders will have the lower damage, they should get scrapper level hitpoints. Corruptors, being the more offensive AT, get blaster level HPs.
Speaking of damage, these ATs do too little. One of the great features of the CoH game is its fast paced battles, and defenders fall out of that area. Variety is good, but defenders are way out of range of standard CoH experience. Corruptors are moderately less so, but still fall short vs most of the enemies in game. While surviving longer battles can be done by both these ATs, in addition to needing more attacks to win a fight, most also need to use active mitigation powers (debuffs/self-heals/controls), taking even more time and endurance. The endurance consumption needed to win fights on these ATs is unacceptable. We could adjust endurance costs, but that would still leave these ATs lacking on teams (you know, the place they are supposed to shine the most). Wouldn't it be more fun if defenders were appreciated more for their attack sets?
Therefore, we will move corruptors damage scale to 0.9 and defenders to 0.8. The corruptor damage cap will be lowered to 400, resluting in a negligible change at the buff cap (0.75*5=3.75, compared to 0.9*4=3.6). Defender caps will be lowered to 325, resulting in no change at the cap (0.65*4=2.6 vs 0.8*3.25=2.6). It might be wise here to lower scourge from +100% damage to +80% in order to maintain current performance vs the higher HP targets, but its not really necessary, IMO, since they are such a small part of the game anyway, albeit an important one for some aspects of the game.
Neither of the above changes will have a major impact on current defender/corruptor playstyle. No one who currently loves the defender playstyle will feel a major difference. Fights will go a bit faster, and they will be slightly harder to kill, but they still will not be able to carelessly wade into enemies. Most of their mitigation will still be active, requiring attention to be payed and tough choices to be made. Current players of those ATs lose nothing (please do not gripe about the 4% reduction corruptors get at the damage cap).
The last suggestion that pushed me into crazy land, was Mag 4 status resists in the Epic armors. This idea I do not like. It would change the current playstyle, it would make those powers must take, and it would take away a bit from FF, Sonic, Traps, and to a lesser extent Rad. Therefore, I can only be wild-eyed, fanatical about the modest increases in Hit Points and Damage. Just say no to APP armor status protection!
OK, now that you are all convinced, let us counter the non-believers.
But no one would play a blaster anymore.
Dominators and VEATs exist, yet I still want to play blasters. It is possible doms could overtake blasters, but never defenders and corruptors. You see, melee attacks are fun. People like to punch, kick, bash, and stab things. Doms and blasters are really the only way to get both. (Yes, some pool attacks for defenders could be used, but really, it is not the same as Ice Sword or Bone Smasher). /Traps might kick /Devices in the teeth; that is not an AT issue, but a powerset concern.
Scrapper and tanker population could suffer.
Have I mentioned that people like to kick, bash, rip, shred, punch, stabbity-death baddies? Also, people will always enjoy the passive mitigation the armored ATs have, not to mention the status protection. Brutes, scrappers, and tankers are not in any jeopardy because of the above proposed changes.
All corruptor/defender teams would be overpowered.
Status Quo. This suggestion does not particularly make them any more powerful when on large teams of other defenders/corruptors, although smaller teams of just these ATs will see a modest benefit. It does indeed improve their (percieved) performance on mixed teams, as they will be a bit more resilient and provide more damage than currently.

...how to fix my comp, CoX has NEVER! worked well with my comp, even back in the day, and even today with bottom-line graphics, i have a ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series, is that good enough, and i have 188g memory left, out of 222g, comp is a 2005 Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition, but the game still runs poorly, infact the only game that will run good on my comp is WoW, and i dispize that game, soo can someone tell me what to do to finally make it better?
-
yeah that is true, but generally controllers r really preffered to defenders
-
in a technical sense at high lvls defenders aren't needed at all, because controllers can do all the things they cant, but they have mezz's instead of insanely weak damage attacks which do nothing, soo controllers are much more preferred on high lvl teams now
