  1. Thanks for all your hard work. I wish you the best in your future position, but you will be missed.

Although he is no longer around, I think "Spanky" Rabinowitz left some keys to the city in his old safe. Be sure to grab one if you make your way back to Paragon.
  2. Circeus, did your avatar change? Oh, you just took off your hood. Put it back on, quick.

With all the excitement on E3 and COV, I just wanted to make a post that Ice fixes are still very important to me. Not even the Johnny Cochran defense of waving your arms yelling "Chewbacca, Chewbacca" will divert my attention from our plea.

OK, I fully admit that I am very distracted by City of Villains, but I do want changes for my hero who I feel is subpar as a tank.

So that is who Maestro is.

That's pretty neat that you are the voice for Manticore as well.

Positron's blast had the actual correct SOUND effect!

I don't hear it a lot, but I think Ghost Widow's phase shift has the right sound effect as well.

One thing to keep in mind with the trailer is that it is a CoV trailer so the bad guys are going to be dominant.
  5. Poor Synapse getting beat up like that and then used as a projectile. That would be a cool villain power, instead of hurling a boulder, we throw superheroes.
  6. Well, I found another bug with EA tonight. Unless there is something special about Sappers and endurance loss, EA doesn't affect them. I tried it with three sappers around me and none of them lost any endurance. I also tried with just one. The text says that I stole some endurance, but their bars remained full.

It also seemed like something was wrong when opponents were held in my freezing touch as well, but I never came up with a conclusive answer to that. Occasionally, I would notice that in small groups (less than 5) the held enemy wouldn't lose endurance, but when I would go to test for that specifically for that, it worked fine.
  7. Don't mind me while I bang my head on the keyboard.

    Actually, that does feel better.

It is funny how primary colors are usually good (statesman's red cape) and secondary colors are evil (recluse's purple cape) in comics.

Oh yeah, I call scorpion guy armor.

  10. Thanks for the heads-up, Daristar.

I was just thinking about ice armor and the concept of an ice wall came to mind. The clunkiness of the thing would be a big drawback and I can only imagine it being used on Monsters/AVs because of the time required to take them down. So, I discarded that idea.

Then I thought of a Freezing Area type of field that is larger than Chilling Embrace. Perhaps be a damage debuff field of sorts that also help protect your teammates. This sort of debuff idea has been brought up before and the big downside of it is it doesn't scale well. The major problem of scaling is that we would still be vulnerable to one-shotting. Damage Resistance really is the best way to avoid the coup de grace that ice tanks are all too familiar with.

I guess the major problem is that I just don't see the devs changing our powers other than just terms of numbers. They did add stacking for our armor, but I don't see them changing the way a power functions. I'm just not happy with hibernate since it takes away my ability to help my team. We just don't have that final defensive power to help us step up to the plate and take on the worst that Paragon City has to offer. I've said this before, but our final power is more of an /afk power than anything.

I do still have questions about the ice line of tanks though for the devs.
What good is Permafrost now that Ice Armor stacks?
Why can't we slot Chilling Embrace to slow attack rates?
Shouldn't Energy Absorption be offered at level 18 instead of 26?

OK well I'm sure Mother Mayhem is back in her old body just as Sister Psyche is, I just need to find someone with the mission.

Manticore just said that "Mother Mayhem has shown no signs of wanting her old body back."
  13. I'm enjoying Guild Wars so far. It is a nice game break.

Were can I locate Moonfire for the TF. Thanks.

    Map of Striga Isle

Hess is the big Task Force that everyone is talking about. The leader of the TF has to have it unlocked by completing missions in Striga. I'm not sure which contact.

Moonfire is right beside Ravenstorm (on the same rock). Hess is on the SouthEast side of the Island.
  15. Hibernate would work a lot better with another tank primary that uses resistance instead of defense. A lot of times we don't have much warning when things are starting to go wrong. Our health bars crash down to zero in the blink of an eye. If our health bar slowly went down, we could have time to activate hibernate, heal, and then come out fighting. Hibernate also has a long activation time. I know this has been mentioned before, but our last power really doesn't help us. It has been improved, but I just don't think it meshes well with the set. It isn't team friendly either. I've tried to use it against AV's and Monsters so I can avoid getting killed. The problem is that they just ignore me if anyone else is around. It is more of an /afk power than anything else right now for my character.
  16. It really bothers me that they capped the endurance drain aspect of the power and the innate taunt as well as the defense buff.

Was the endurance drain "too powerful"?
    Was the taunt "too powerful"?

Looks like it is just to make coding easier.
  17. Well, I see that our thread got moved to the Dev Corner. I guess that might be a good thing. /sigh

Over the weekend, I tried out the Eden Trial. I got one-shotted by the Crystal Titan. Nothing new there, but the really cool part... an Invul tank that was with me got one-shotted as well. We were on even ground. (I know about Ambrosia, we just ran out of it.) He said that being killed in one-shot sucked. I told him that it happens to me all the time when I face AV's and Monsters.

Oh and before I forget (not that I really could)... Thank you for a great year! Happy Anniversary to CoH and its wonderful community!

I personally think he does a fine job of drawing us further into Paragon City!

    [/ QUOTE ]

It sounds like some kind of online gaming death trap to me.

Seriously, I love the articles Gilgamesh (somehow it feels wrong to just say Gil with such a legendary name) writes. It certainly adds to the mythos of Paragon City. When I see Calvin Scott, I think of how he endangered all of us for the love of a woman. Of course, isn't that how everything starts? When I see Dock workers in Independence port, I think of the fisherman that was going to take pictures of whales, but instead got to see octopi carnage. Don't get me started on the Hammer of the World.

  22. I just wanted to take a moment and thank all of you ice tankers for standing together in this matter. There have been several times where I just got fed up with my ice tank and thought he was doomed to fail no matter what I did. It just made it worse to watch other tankers do what I dreamed of taking on much harder enemies than I dared. It really hurt to watch certain scrappers do the same thing.

The problem is that I love my ice tanker in spite of all of his problems. He has very weak attacks and a sub-par defense. This becomes very noticeable when I try to take on an AV in various teams. (The problems of Ice Melee are for another day and I don't foresee any changes to it for a very long time.)

I also want to thank you for the mature thread. There are many times I just want to vent my frustrations here. I keep hoping that our civility will be rewarded. Time will tell whether it works or not, but let's not blow our tops just yet. We have finally been promised that our set will be looked at and I believe that it will. It may be found that Energy Absorption is too powerful, but I hope that the devs realize that other powers in the set need to be improved to more than make up for the problems. I think everyone would like to see something done to the set that is positive.

This is our best shot for something to be changed after finding out that stacking armor still didn't allow us to measure up. Let's focus on the problem and not each other.
