Here's why i disagree. You say apply yourself. Does that mean EVERYONE should look for niches and/or flip? Should EVERYONE farm PI? Should EVERYONE farm tix? Those are about the only way to afford the "ferraris", right?
What about the nonfarmers? How exactly should they get "ferraris"? Why does YOUR version of apply ones self mean it's how it should be? Why isn't it suppose to be possible for EVERYONE to purp their WS? We ALL pay to play. I shouldn't HAVE to play your way to purp my WS. Or should I?
I on the other hand enjoy farming PI/AE. I just purpd my first Dom. He has 175% rech with perma everything. But what if i didn't like to farm? Run A merits for a month to get 1 purp? 5 sets of 5 =25. Thats 2 years for 1 toon. No ty.
Please explain why everyone don't deserve a purp WS, please. ( and i ALWAYS get more purps than oranges, too. the system IS borked)
And on the subject of non-farmers, every non-farm I've ever met were people who played less than an hour a week, because they were casual to gaming in general, or were very lazy and wanted things handed to them. Purples were added to the game for people who wanted them and activly pursed them in any way possible.
Another way to put it is: We're all born into this world(the 15 dollars a month. LoL) and some people apply themselves (college education, working hard 12/7 for two years, self employed) and get the rewards. (purples = Farrari's or whatever they were working for) This analogy can be applied to relationships and whatever else that is work/reward which is just about everything.

I don't remember how to do mission anymore, I don't think I've attacked anything in so long. Where's my action bar again? How do I get to Grandburg? A new generation of MA babies, as in MArketeer babies.
...And I just about had another character Inf. capped too, and I'll have to leave for work soon. I am sad. =( -

Since the market went down I feel like my meaning in life has went away. I feel so lost in CoX now. I don't know what I'll ever do, or if I can recover from this terrible loss. ='(

It's kind of sad and funny when people say purple drops should be increased.
Not sure how long the people saying: "The drop rate should be increased." farm, but getting purples isn't hard... It's quite simple just tedious. You can get 1-2 purples a day just farming the wall, and missions would be faster since there are more mobs.
I think the problem is most people don't want to sit at their computer, or have the patience to do so, for two-three hours. When I used to farm purples for Inf. I'd get four-five in a week, or more. I've gotten three on a sunday before. I spent quite a bit of time on the the wall, but still the drop rate is fine.
The real problem is that no one is farming on a larger scale like how it was when people PL'ed in PI or GV to make more supply, because of AE farming. BUT thanks to AE there are more Inf. generating options which means they are easier to buy even at 400m each if you put some effort into the market/ticket farming.
By the way not to sound the a scruge here, but a purpled out character isn't ment for everyone, just like Fararri's. Just because you spend the same monthly fee, doesn't mean you put in the same amount of effort as someone else.
Now orange drops... that was a problem. About three-four months ago I'd be getting more purples than oranges in ten or so farm missions and I'd be deleted all the temp power drops I was getting, becasue there were so many. Though no one believed me since it was anecdotal evidence. >.>
PS. I do understand the humor in this thread, but this was generally for the people who say "See see see, the drop rate does need to be increased!" who completely miss the humor of it. -
I started with 150m and ended up with over 8b in a month. I'd say you can start with 90-100m. Really you can start with just 50k or so, and start flipping Positron's Blast, Performance Shifter +End, and other lowbie large spread IO's.

Hum, I think I might, I've proven to myself I can quickly make Inf. on the markets. If I do do it, I'll keep it small untill I can figure it all out.
I'll put in most of it and ask for probably five or so other people to put in a small amount so if it collapses it mainly rests on me, and I'd I have enough to pay back out/cover the other investers. -

At one point people were buing them for 1.5m or about. I got some of mine sold. But in the effort I spent 230m or so buying it all up. From almost 1k on the market to 3.
P.S. Not to derail my own thread, but I have been thinking about starting a mutual fund like idea. Someone a long while ago looked into it, but not sure what ever came of it. -

On a side note this weekend was the first time I made 1.5b in two days of markteering by flipping recipies to crafted IOs. -

I looked at MrLiberty's build, and I have a few questions, and sorry I forgot to post the data chunk. I completely forgot to do that.
1. Thats alot of KB protection, I though 8 was as high as you needed in most cases?
2. The travel powers are slotted more than I've seen, and Hurdle has two. Is that needed? I don't know much about slotting travel powers in PvP.
3. Full Auto isn't so bad afterall? I was always told AoEs are really bad in PvP.
4. I still have a question about Vengence: Does it work outside of team? -
Thanks for the post everyone. And yes it's deffinantly far from the best... Far from anything really, the purpose of the build idea was to test Power Boost, Build Up, Boost Range, Vengence, and Sniper Rifle at once with very little Inf. spent. I've used BU/BR/Sniper before and it's pretty useful for my play style in RV.
The idea of BU/Sniper seems effective. I've gotten most of my kill from it.
I've never went to this section much(Really never visit the forums much in general), so I am not sure who the "Solid Personnel" are besides LuxunS. -
A while back I made a thread about a PvP NW. It's just about done, but in that time I also leveled an AR/EM blaster. After PvP'ing a little with it, I kind of liked the idea. I understand that AR is one of, if not, the worst PvP blaster powerset but I still want it. I kind of like the BU/BR/Sniper Rifle combo on stalkers who are running away....
1. I picked only Burst, Slug, Power Thrust, and Sniper rifle as attacks, because it seems they will be the only ones I'll be using. AoE powers from what I've seen and read are "Heh LoL" in pvp, so that knocks out all the cones.
2. I skipped Bean bag, though with Power Boost it would seem like an interesting idea? I've kept Power Boost though, because it'll help Hoarfrost, BU, and Vengence. Not sure if the slotting in Hoarfrost is correct. Really I am not quite sure of the concept of Hoarfrost in general as Mid's says I am HP capped at 1604 HP(with accolades).
3. I've IO'ed my attacks for HP except for sniper rifle which is damage/recharge IO'ed I was thinking of dropping the proc and adding an IO range....
4. I've IO'ed the defense powers quite a bit though it's not for defense I've done it for added damage. I might drop the sixth slot in tactics and throw it into Hibernate for another recharge.
5. Since in RV there is usually no shortage of dead bodies, I've slotted it for def/rech/tohit. Does this work for non-team members too? If so then it's even better, unless I've got the concept wrong. Would it be acceptable to have it with five slots?
The idea if BU/PB/BR/Veng/Sniper Rifle sounds very interesting and if the Tactics BU proc is running too ... Really awsome, if it works out like that....
By the way this is a generally cheap build that is why there are no Gambler's Lucks in it. Though I have kept the Numina's and Miracles.

Hum, I should have probably mentioned that I have only one other character, a well IO'ed NW... Which I guess made me completely forget/neglect the fact that the other classes don't have the mezz protection of NW's. That is why I didn't slot Burst for damage.
What is an acceptable amount of defense for a AR/EM/Fm blaster? I've seen 35% S/L is what you should try to get if you can't get 45% S/L defense. With PFF could I kind of neglect some of it? I've never used PFF ever really. So not sure how it'll work if I use it as an alpha defense. When I turn it off I'll need some sort of defense as I blast away. Maybe I have the concept of ranged characters wrong. I am probably thinking I can play a high def. blaster like a NW.... LoL -
Hum, I reworked the second build a bit. I used the melee attacks from the EM power set instead of the generic power pool ones I had before. I still did not use any procs in the melee attacks, because I am not sure I am going to use them, or it'll seem that way? I slotted Build Up the way you did, and put in Power Boost. Does the recharge proc in Buckshot have a chance to activate for each mob it hits? If so, then I can see that as very handy.

Second:
AR/EM/FM: This is the build I wanted to do most as it fits my character's theme better. It has 35% defense and 49% resistance to S/L damage. It has Aid Self, which by what I know can be used when using Personal Force Field. Personal Force Field can be used to absorb the initial attacks of a spawn too.

So I've made two builds for my blaster. I'll post both of them. I've never played blaster at high level yet. This would be my first. Is there anything I am missing? Does anyone kind of know how each build will play out? The general purpose of these two builds are: to farm missions/wall/have fun. By the way this will be my first Hero side character so it'll be the one I'll use to make influence.
First:
AR/EM/Cold: The idea of this build was to have capped S/L defense (44.9 alright? =P) and use Hibernate to heal and regain endurance when ever I am low and when Conserve Power is not up.

Okay, I have a Dropstats log. And its a little weird. As it says that no "Rare" recipes dropped. I did get only one Rare recipe, and it was for the new temp powers. Apparently purples (Very Rare) are more common than oranges (Rare). The reason why I have no salvage is because my salvage is full.

Though the only drops I recived were I think four or five standard IO's so I am not sure if it would have affected it to much. The new Temp Powers have messed up other IO drops. I've spent about an hour farming the wall, and nearly every drop was the temp power or a regular invention recipie. It needs to be looked into. In the hour I farmed I only gotten two yellow IO drops. Something is deffinently wrong.
In two/three hours or less I usually get a purple/high value IO, but now it's just one oranges and four yellows, and so many standard IO's/temp powers I'm just deleting them. Though I am keeping the useful temp powers. -

I made a build that has no PvP IOs or purples, but thats is kind of only what I can do at the moment. The prices are a little high. I can farm for a while... but availibilty is whats is really bad about it.
I dont see how 55% defense is possible without ML and MP thought it's probably possible without ML as I did get 48% though it was melee only. Maybe it is but not sure how. I don't have anywhere near 1600 HP either. If it's possible I am stumped on how to do it like the defense issue. I do have alot of recharge as nearly perma(or perma not sure how much DR will increase it's recharge) ML doesn't sound bad though. I've tried changing slotting, but it still seems nearly perma/perma ML keeps the highest amout of defense up the longest without going way over board on expensive and nearly unobtainable PvP IOs. Even with PvP IOs I didn't gain that much in defense to warent investing in them, though I am sure the other benefits of them do justify their slotting. I don't have 30% tohit, but Combat Trainning: Offensive adds 18.3% more acc does that mean I have 18.3 tohit? I've never really sat down and thought of how CT:O's buff works.
Here is the build, it's definantly off on a few stats though. I think I need to do some more homework....
