My vampire toon is a dark/dark defender. I love it.

I don't kick unless someone is slowing down progress or being a jerk in the chat.
The game is so easy there's no reason to get uptight over builds or how someone plays as long as they're not causing multiple team wipes.
Kicking is a great way to stir up hostility especially without consulting the rest of the team. I find that people who take an almighty leader attitude wind up playing alone. If one person gets kicked or repeatedly "warned" with no regard to the rest of the team's feelings on the matter if makes them all feel expendable.
I've been on teams with uptight 'leaders' and after that out of the blue kick 2 or more extra teammates leave which causes more damage to the team than that one person may have done.
I also really hate anal retentive players who check other player's powers and berate them for it. A little helpful advice is fine, but if the person doesn't want it...move on.
I've pulled together teams of seemingly terrible players and by the end of our run they're terrific. Leading by example is usually the best approach. They'll adjust to the team's overall play style eventually or end up quitting to be replaced by someone who will bring more to the team. You also end up with a lot more friends that way. Catch more flies with honey, etc, etc. -
24 pages of ego stroking. Woo.
We get it, you all know more than newbies, and all newbies are just babies who don't know any better.
Now who wants ice cream? -
Is a new game that much of a threat?
I've never understood fanboys fear of change and new games. This isn't a monopoly and CoH definitely shouldn't go without competition. -
Not sure why people claim to even care about this supposed 'issue'. We have /ignore, ratings, and notes. Use them.
This issue could be debated for years...oh wait it already has, and nothing will change. Regardless of the outcome you can't do crap about it so move on.
It's a game, for personal enjoyment, not the environment or a political leader. -
I think it all boils down to how big a deal it is for you if a player doesn't know what they're doing.
I personally don't care. If the team sucks I leave and find another or make my own. If an individual sucks then they're not enough to make the team stink on their own.
Wipes don't bother me since debt is a joke. Not moving at the absolute optimum speed doesn't bother me(if I want speed I'll join an sg only team).
I really just take a carefree approach to the game. I don't see the big deal if a player doesn't know what they're doing regardless of level. That's their problem, not mine. I have the option of leaving the team and I use it quite often. This is also on Victory where the chances of running into the player again are pretty high and it's still not a problem for me.
I'd say stop playing on Freedom is dumb players are really that big an issue. The less populated servers generally have better players. -
Was never the case since I've been playing this or any other game.
It's easy to make it to max level and not have a clue how to play.
Join team/party, earn exp, remain clueless at the 'endgame'. Stupid people don't suddenly stop being stupid just because they hit 50 nor do young players suddenly become child prodigies just because they maxed out a character.
This game isn't exactly rocket science. There's nothing hard to figure out. Anyone who can't figure it out on their own won't figure it out at all. Doesn't matter if or when they hit 50. That number doesn't mean jack. -
That problem pre-dates AE teams.
Not sure why everyone is suddenly under the impression that farming is new and only existed since the implementation of player mission. Get real, guys/gals. -
There's no serious learning curve to this game. It's slightly more complicated than WoW. Anyone who's played an MMO before can pick this up with no problem.
UO, EQ, DAoC, etc had years worth of learning curves. Nothing after EQ has had anything worth calling a learning curve. -
That's not the point. Guild Wars didn't have it either. They added it later.
This is dumb anyway. You people just like arguing for the sake of arguing.
Now it's "Think about the customer service reps!"...that's their freaking job. I don't care. They're getting paid to handle calls.
Arguing this with you people is like banging my head against a wall. I say make it available only through Account Management and the best you can come up with is Customer Service? Yeah I'm sure the company outsourced in India will flip over the 5 calls a year by some idiot who doesn't know how to switch users around wandering hands or paws.
Enjoy your safety hats you paranoid people. I honestly feel sorry for you at this point because nothing any of you post makes any sense. Half of you couldn't even keep up with the evolution of the proposal so you invented things that were no longer being said or never were said to begin with. So pathetic.
It's a game, not government information. -
Why does it bother you if someone has the option to reduce security on their own account?
I really don't understand all the apprehension. This is more ridiculous than the farmer vs anti-farmer garbage.
If anyone for this had said they wanted to impose this function on everyone regardless of if they wanted it or not I'd be against it...but no one has. -

You people throw invalid argument after invalid argument against being able to log out to character selection. Keyloggers, simply opening up your notepad items, deleting vital information and files, or erasing your hard drive and disabling your restore points. So many options and you think this malicious person only cares about your stupid toons on a video game? Really?
[/ QUOTE ]
The arguments aren't invalid, as these things actually DO happen. What you're debating is their significance, not their validity. The counter argument being that the time lost going back to log-in isn't significant, therefore why even bother messing with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Quote where I said anything about time lost. I didn't.
My argument is that is should be an option to those who want it and available through Account Management. At no time have I presented any other argument.
Those other arguments are invalid because any number of things can happen to their PC leaving it unattended and logged into their user account. They're not safeguarding their own PCs regardless of the game itself so that's their own problem.
There's still no reason presented why it shouldn't be an option for those who want it with the added security of enabling or disabling it being available only through Account Management.
Unless you feel like claiming I said something I didn't say all over again. -
I have a kin/psy and I hate how single target it is. It really doesn't get to utilize the buffs as well as an aoe set would. I'd say the same will occur with storm.
If you don't care about aoeing then you can easily ignore this post, but the aoe potential Defenders bring is so wasted on single target sets.
I regreted going psychic even if it is fun to look at. On the other hand my Storm/Elec is one of my favorite combos. -
It's funny that this is the only NC game that doesn't have a logout to character selection yet some people can't get how stupid it is that this game doesn't have it.
Co* has the most character slots available of any MMO on the market and yet to log out to character selection option. Seriously? It's not even the second largest MMO. There's no legion of people just waiting for lowered security just to delete your toons.
The main reason the argument against having this option is so stupid is if someone really wants to delete your toons and you walked away from your pc they can just install a keylogger on your computer and get all the information they want.

Exactly.
Honestly it's not even that big a deal. All these people talking about how a bus load of people are swarming around their PC waiting to delete their toons are full of it anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean to say that your real argument is that we just don't need passwords at all?
[/ QUOTE ]
Is that what I said?
Pretty sure I never said I even have the problems people are claiming to have in this thread on either side of the argument.
All i said is every player should have the option to choose if they want to be able to log out to character select or not and that it should be selectable from ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT for security.
Maybe everyone so busy ranting against this proposal should bother reading it first.
I don't think a single person in favor of this has said it shouldn't be an option that people can enable or disable depending on their preference. -
[ QUOTE ]
I don't buy your complaint that it inconveniences you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Good thing I never said it inconvenienced me nor did I start this thread. I said it'd be nice to have the option.
Get over yourself.
You can't be trusted to keep your own account safe so no one can have the option to log out to character selection? Please. -
Sure.
I don't buy bs scenarios that random people spout off on the internet to win an argument. -

This is a QR
XP can be turned on and off in the menu options, logout to server or character select should be too. Make the default set how it is now, but allow players to choose their own logging options. No biggie.
Oh, and Zombie Mans' story was pretty damn funny.

I said more than two(I don't play all day and never implied such, at most I play for 5 hours and that's irregular) and you can still hit 50 in a day with a normal pre-MA farm.
Somehow I doubt you'd risk hitting 50 in a day with MA considering you'll be banned. Sounds like a farce to me unless you're really stupid. -

Thank you. All these fictional scenarios are just stupid.
Every platform has a way of adding a password to safeguard your PC when you leave it. They're just making up lame excuses because change is so scary.

So glad you live in such a perfect world - perhaps you could invite the rest of us to visit you there?
Regarding your idea of setting a password to protect your computer when you step away - so you agree then that there is a need to protect data? Your "solution" only puts the protection at a different place - it does not remove the concept of password protected data from the use of a computer that might be accessed by others (which as some have tried to repeatedly point out to you is pretty much *any* computer).
[/ QUOTE ]
Uh no.
Unlike most of you in this thread I'm not paranoid. I know no one will delete my toons.
I switch users to keep what's on my screen from being seen by someone who probably doesn't want to see it. I no longer need to do that but back in the day I don't think my Mom would've wanted to see porn as she walked past my PC upon entering my room.
With all this paranoia over accounts we should start passing out tin-foil hats. You don't need a perfect world you just need common sense. If you know you have people around who can't be trusted near your PC then you should log out anyway because they can mess with a lot more than your stupid toons. Get real. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's far more inconvientnet to have to log in and out to go get a glass of water or a pop tart then it is to go to the login screen when you want to swap characters.
There have been plenty of people who pop up in the Tech Support forum to complain about deleted toons even with the setup we have now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Uh you would still have the option to stay logged in to go get that poptart.
The rest of us would have the option to log out to character select.
What is there to even complain against?
Make it optional by Account Management and then there's absolutely no argument against the request.
How on Earth do you get by on any other game when every other game has a log out to character select option?
Paranoia at it's best because I seriously do not believe this many people have someone gunning for their precious account just waiting to delete their characters...and if you do maybe it's you. -
Thank you. All these fictional scenarios are just stupid.

Good lord are you people still beating this horse?
Everyone in game seems to have moved on. MA was nerfed as hard as it could be and guess what...farming is still going on. Get over it.
[/ QUOTE ]
It hasn't been "nerfed as hard as it could be." That won't happen until all rewards are stripped off of AE missions.
I would bet that this is eventually coming, and probably not too far away either, but until then.... they have not done nearly all they can do. But I agree the farming is still going on.
[/ QUOTE ] My experience has been that people are attempting to farm and doing a really poor job.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's not true. If your team is inexperienced then it'll suck, but folks who know what they're doing are able to farm at very nice speeds. You won't hit 50 in a day, but you'll earn more than two levels a day.
