This is so fantastic that not only did I write up a little homage in the SOA forums to get people informed and reading this thread , I might just have to roll up a Child of Defender.
You've inspired me, sir. *salute* -

You know....I spend hours a week cleaning crap out of people's computers. Malware, spyware, virii and so forth. I am not pleased that you folks are going to be streaming garbage into my computer.
Yeah, I know...we can "opt out". Show me that you haven't somehow compromised my system with your Adware, after all....you've never screwed up with any of your code so far and there aren't years worth of bugs still hanging around out there in your game.
Are you that desperate for cash that you have to turn a game I already pay for into a billboard?
I've been in this game since 3 months after launch but this is the end for me.
Complete rubbish
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, they're totally desperate for cash.
That's why they've nearly tripled their dev team and made forays into getting more money to expand it even further.
Obviously, when you have no money, the first thing you do is his more people.
...waaaaaaaaaitasecond... -
[ QUOTE ]
How are they going to know if you've actually SEEN the ad if not through some means that many players might take issue with?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, gosh, I guess they'll just have to implement something totally rational, like a clientside/serverside link checking the Opt-In/Opt-Out flag for players.
DOOM is unnecessary - more money and an emphasis on players yea or naying is good, as long as it remains unobtrusive. I for one am now expecting more, better-quality content, and so far I've never questioned a decision by the NC^2 dev team.
Except Psi Manipulation, but that just looks -scary-, PVP or PVE. But that's neither here nor there.
More money, more devs, more content, more players, more money. I'll opt-in, thank you for giving me the op-tion (haha), and please keep this mentality of player choice going. -

Corruptors: Fingers Shaped Like A Gun Pretending To Blast + Trick Arrow
[/ QUOTE ]
Shoot, as long as I actually get TA, you can pretend whatever you like with your fingers.
[ QUOTE ]
Dominators: Paper Clip Domination + Origami Assault (now with Paper Airplane blast!)
[/ QUOTE ]
I want this so bad it's not even funny, and that's not a joke. Well, the Origami Assault.
[ QUOTE ]
Masterminds: Citizen Mastermind (3 harlots, 2 cops, and 1 doctor, all of whom run away from danger when summoned)
[/ QUOTE ]
So pretty much the exact AI we have now, except doing exactly what it's supposed to?
Okay, no, in all seriousness, the whining's annoying...but at the same time, Devs, have you considered Origami Assault? >.>

Stalkers:
Elec/Elec made me laugh.
And I kept laughing.
Then I realized that a BUp'd Hidden Crit on Lightning Rod could probably wipe out a ridiculously large number of mobs.
Then I realized that that was before I placate'd and Thunderstruck the rest of them.
Okay, yeah, /Elec is a dumb idea. But Elec/? Please God let Lightning Rod be crittable.
Might actually roll a stalker and stick with it!
Doms:
Hahahahahahahaha wow. The reasoning for that being a thematic pair sucks. The potential combinations with other sets are fantastic.
Brutes:
Meh...okay. SR's nice, Axe/Mace are okay...I wanted to see Broadsword first, but that's cool. As long as we can get some real Rikti weapons Vside now, and I don't mean the Mastermind excuses for weapon powers.
Tanks:
Yeah. Dark. Right. Because nobody wants Elec/Elec, the actual natural port, instead of one of the even-more-end-heavy-sets we can already get Hside. :P
Scrappers:
See Tanks, except replace Dark with Fire.
MMs:
Meh, Storm. Okay, not bad, not thematic, but pretty cool. We already get this down on Corruptors, but I'm not complaining - it's a solid set and now we can make Tsoorcerors or Banished Pantheon, or the insane robotics mastermind with weather control devices. I won't play one, but that's still cool.
Corruptors:
Awesome. END-drain and Voltaic Sentinel and pet-tasmagorical and control all over the place. Plus the now-Mu-creatability gets a big thumbs-upper from me. Another I might roll and play all the way through.
Blasters:
*Zzzzz* If anyone didn't need a unique set, it's Blasters. If anyone didn't need a new type of damage, it's blasters. As nice as this is, Psi should've been on Scrappers, Stalkers, Brutes, and Tanks long before Blasters. Okay, Psi/Mental will be awesome - it doesn't change that Blasters really didn't need a Psi set before the melee types did, since Blasters are already competitive and quite diverse in their choices.
Defenders:
Kay. Now we can debuff more. I don't feel strongly about this.
Controllers:
Kay. Now we can plant sum treez and set 'em on fire. Right. Not excited, not disappointed. I do think it's sad that they chose Thermal, and not Poison, but at least vside gets Storm to keep a little competition.
So that's my feelings on this. -
I think you're all missing the most important point of all.
Our powers come from a mystical energy field that binds and connects us all.
We're ****ing Jedi Knights!!!! -
I hate to bring this up, but people who think Cimerora and Dual Blades and such are efforts to push towards Fantasy MMOs should go pick up the comic "Warlord". It's about an Air Force Officer getting displaced into a medieval-style world at the center of the Earth, and it's hardcore Swords and Sorcery. And quite good.
Personally, I'm gunning for Nazis in Rome screwing around with Aliens and Magic to Take Over The World.
Please?
EDIT:
Obligatory reference:
Leeeeet's dooo the time warp agaaaaain!
EDIT 2:
Wow, how could I not have included 1602, The Savage Land, Elseworlds, and Themyscira? I'm disappointed in my comic bookfu... -
Signed wholeheartedly, with my own signature move plotted out:
Skye Valentine [50 Scrapper/31 Warshade/18 Controller, Storyline-based Incarnate]
Sands of Egypt:
Cone Extreme [Smashing Damage, Knockback, Hold, Large Cone]
The ancient magic of Egypt at the command of Thoth's Incarnate reaches its apex in the ability to call up a great portion of egypt's sands, a sweeping wave of earth that can sweep enemies off their feet and bury them under its suffocating waves. -
C: So, what if I told you I knew the meaning of life?
I'd assume you were insane and ignore you.
C: Me too.
Well, at least you're aware of your own mental issues.
C: I knew it was 42!
42 is not the answer, you know.
C: Okay, good.
I thought you knew 42 was the answer. Why is your misunderstanding good?
C: I do, but not THAT kind.
Eh?
C: I'm not allowed to have... You know...
And do you want that?
C: I dunno.
Well, at least you haven't gone Marvin on me.
C: Big enough for intelligent creatures in it to not know about each other.
...there are intelligent creatures in it?
C: Yes! Many!
...you have intelligent creatures in your pants?
C: And I don't plan to!
You're a mad little [censored].
C: No I'm not, I'm good!
Mad. Insane. Crazy. Batty. Screwy. Nuts. Warped.
C: Yes!
This is a good thing?
C: I don't get paid anything...
I'll ask Kelp to pay you.
C: Is that allowed?
I think you're supposed to be paid for that.
C: Bad code? Uh-oh! Better tell Kelp!
....Kelp, what have you been having this little guy do on the side here? -
The server is Virtue.
There is no "sg" or "vg" or "coalition" for the Dueling League. The League transcends such things. :-)
The idea is to provide storyline-based PvP outside the arena (so people can participate in non-combat ways) while having more versatile rules than the Arena (also easy to do with PvP), yet still haivng an aura of satefty (provided by a pair of Judges, one from the Hero and one from the Villain sides.) -
Shank you wif a shiv. :-P Er, Thank You.
Yes, Hellboy (and an anime...won't say which) is where I gleaned the name from. Dug around on Google a bit, found some stuff that all said pretty much that. But I wanted to double-check. ^_^ -

One would assume that the borrowed/"created" mythos would be the Church of Thuul's myths. :-)
However, nobody's answered my questions. So I don't know. -
Out of curiosity, what do you (any of you have studied History) know of Hitler's ties to the Thuul/Thule/Tuul/Toure Society? ((For easy, I'll refer to it as the Thuul Society.)) Are they actual traced connections, rumors expounded on by occultists and writers, or purely fiction?
According to some research I've done, the Thuul Society was an occult group espousing Aryanism as the divine will of their master on the Isle of Thuul. Hitler joined at some point before being elected leader of the Nazi party, and it is from the Thuul Society, according to this research, that Hitler recieved his control. After becoming leader of the Nazi Party, he killed the chairman of the Society and assumed control for himself.
Are these actual traces? I would very much appreciate some confirmation of this. ^_^ -
I'd like to say that this is only partially true.
I'm a diehard roleplayer; the fun of this game for me is making a character like Captain Snowflake (the silliest Golden-Ager ever) or Sarik VaYir (recalcitrant ex-Thorn Necromancer Hero) and letting them truly come to life.
However, I have a friend I have asked to assist me in helping Sarik reach level 50 at a rapid pace. Is this because I want to grind? No. Is this because I want to skip the content? No. Do I want the HOs, Kheldians, or anything else from level 50? Not really.
I want Sarik to have access to the powers that defines HIM. Not his AT, but HIM. As a Necromancer, Phantasm and Spectral Army are my goals.
But as a roleplayer, I keep getting distracted. Powerleveling is the way I can flesh this guy out and enable me to still roleplay, albeit roleplay with powers that define the character. -
Because of you, my numpad has become my piano keys, my robots have become the notes, and the strokes combine into a really really deadly symphony....with laser-light effects. =)
I thank you.
