Zikar: PP has Windows 7, 64 bit, but she only has 4 Gigs of RAM... With her "epic" gameputer.
I personally just don't think a 9500 is going to run Ultra Mode at all.
I noticed you didnt mention when your gaming system was made. Maybe 3 or 4 years ago? -

Quote:Her home PC has a 295Nvidia dedicated gfx card with a 260 dedicated physX card.Exact quote seems to be "I don't think ANY mobile graphics chip is going to be able to push ALL the features of UM on High with an acceptable FR."
At this point, we're pretty sure that you want a card in the 1,000+ GFLOP range to turn Ultra Mode all the way up for quality, and it's not clear how much frame rate hit you'll get even at that level. Note that the 5770 they talk about is about 1,360 GFLOPs, respectably over that 1k figure. As of right now, the best available mobile graphics chipset I found stats for appears to be the brand-new ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5770, which clocks in at 520 GFLOPs according to ATI; basically *half* of what you'd want for so-so turned up performance. (And I don't even think there are laptops using this available yet.)
It is possible we'll eventually see a dual- Mobile 5770 laptop, although it's not going to be small either, and that would require SLI / Crossfire support working; even then, you'd barely be edging into the mid-range.
There are some "laptops" that use full-sized desktop GPUs, with special high-power power supplies, noisy cooling, and very short battery life to try and handle them. It's arguable whether they are really laptops, and Posi specifically said "mobile chipset" anyway, which would exclude them.
None of the above is intended to mean you *can't* run Ultra Mode on a laptop, just not turned all the way up. The 9800 GT is described as the minimum suggested buy-in for Ultra Mode, and it's a 500-GFLOP class card; the Mobile 5770 and the GTX 280M actually exceed that, and even the much more available and cheaper GTX 260M is only a hair behind that.
She wanted the laptop for this summer when we drive to California >.>
So she could play and have fun while I drive.
I do not see the fairness in that at all. -
Quote:I love how you completely miss PP's point. Lower end graphics cards will not be able to play Ultra Mode on HIGH settings. That is her point and she has gone out of her way to try and say just that without being rude.I love how PP continues to completely miss the point.
Unless your graphics card is obviously ancient and dying, there is absolutely no need to get in a tizzy over ZOMG Ultra Mode right now. Wait and see how your current system will actually handle it, through your own first hand experience rather than projections, before you feel the need to rush out and buy a new card.
ESPECIALLY if you don't know computers.
Here is the thing, I know about computers. If you are trying to play Ultra Mode on a Commadore 64, you should think about Upgrading because it's not going to play Ultra Mode... -
Your case is that you seem to be obsessed with PP. Every place PP goes there you are trying to constantly knock her down. Harrassment? Just can't let it go?
PP made a comment based on Peters first line, about mindless speculation.
On Topic: I personally love that we have PvP zones.
What would make them even better would be to make PvP zones Cross Server. If you are on Justice and go into Sirens Call, you would be there with everyone else from any server, ideally including EU servers as well.
I really have ni desire for flagged PvP. -
It sounds just like Champions Online.
In each of their major zones there is like 8 different mini areas, similar to zones.
TBH, I am not really excited about that. I didn't like it much in CO.
I hope it is different here. -

I did the research on those cards in comparison. Upgrade, ultra mode would look sweet!

Quote:I am 99.99999999999% sure she wanted to say for level 50 characters only, as to not mess up the Accolades... etcMight be odd suddenly passing a level 1 character all the accolades and Master of Lord Recluse Strike Force but I don't see it as being damaging.
That said, I'd really like to be able to pass my Healing badges off to my brute. otherwise there's no way he'll ever get them unless I make a second build with Aid Another and farm it. -
Quote:Hows about you go check out what Positron is doing right now, he is the "What to do at 50 guy" he is incharge of End Game, so we will have things to do at 50...because it is natural to have something to back up what/why you are suggesting something. it is also a good idea to keep an open mind and not get so offended when someone doesn't like your idea. and before i forget, it's ORIGINS not origens.
honestly, this game isn't about what to do at 50. this game is about creating new toons. for that reason alone, you will not find a lot of people running around in a zone like you suggest. not to mention they would be origin locked. those are 2 of the many reasons why this is not such a good idea.
flesh it out some and try again. it is not a bad idea to have more lv 50 content, just a bad idea to have it origin specific.
Its almost like you didnt even read the Dev Digest today... We are getting end game.
And, I think the core of the idea is Origen specific, Mutants have their own raids and zone and content, same for magic, natural, mutant, etc. -
Sorry you dont like my idea. But to me its a great idea, and for all I know... Nothing would make you happy.
why do i have to justifey time for making this idea possible? Who are you? Are you a dev in disguise?
Thats right you arent.
Its obvious they are ALREADY working on END GAME stuff, this is just MY IDEA of something they could do to make ORIGENS more important.
thanks for reading it over and keeping such an open mind, hope you can find something in your life to make you happy besides shredding other peoples idea's. -

Quote:Surely you say that in jest... or you are just naturally happy getting next to nothing for months at a time. Or you only have time to play but 1 hour per month...I don't know what game you guys are playing, but the CoX I play has new stuff added to it all the time.
As for how they treat long time subscribers, veteran players get perks they shouldn't have. If I were a new player, I wouldn't start CoX just because of all the stuff veteran badges give that I would be forever playing catch up on. -

Quote:I am sure when you are around people talk trash. If they followed your example.BS. I find the majority of trash talkers ARE the arena crowd. So often I hear "zone pvp scrubs, blah blah, cant pvp, meet me in arena get wrecked, blah blah."
Your full of trash talk here on the forums. I imagine your the same ingame. -

Quote:How is it the minority? I have read this thread completely and everytime someone says something you dont like, you throw a fit and immediatly start trash talking.Fair, will do. Until after this thread, I didn't realize that the main reason people stay away from pvp is the trash-talking environment, though it is a minority.
It is people like you that make people like me NOT want to PvP. -
Your all bent out of shape because non pvpers areposting in your thread?
Hmmm, Maybe you should have posted this in the PvP section? Or maybe the Guide section? Or maybe even the Freedom section as its in your title that you want people to come pvp you on Freedom server.
Just a thought.
But I agree, PvP just sucks resources out of a great game. -
Your post belongs either in the freedom section or the pvp section.
Your post is like the 9millionth post from a pvper to the pveers asking us to come pvp.
The devs asked us to do it by forcing badge hunters into the zones... guess what we did?
We badge camped while not engaging in pvp.
I pvped alot when villains came out. I have since decided I dont like it.
While you may be "tired" or "sick" of a pveer saying negative stuff in your thread that is clearly about FREEDOM server and PVP... I am tired of pvpers always trying to get pveers to go pvp. -
Quote:Yeah, I figured as much. I posted it here because i'm calling out to non-pvpers. If I post it in the PvP section I will get nothing but PvPers commenting with their own opinions on how the system works.
We are non PvPers because we don't like PvP. And even if I did... I wouldnt do it on Freedom. Virtue FTW. -
I Really hope Going Rogue has more than just 1 to 20 content in it.
My wife and I have already done everything in the game on both sides ALOT of times... and we dont want to play 1 to 20 and then be shoved back into the normal stuff we have been doing for the past 4.something years.
We need NEW stuff from 1 to 50.
