Dink,
Late night thought: If it's not too much work, can we get those three new spiffy belt buckles in this pack ported into the Cape Brooch category. The bat brooch in the Halloween pack was a refreshing surprise and represents the only expansion this category has ever received beyond its initial release AFAIK. -
Probably already suggested. Maybe even by me.
BUT since we are FINALLY getting some persistent and power animated jet packs as back details with the new Retro SciFi set, can we FINALLY look at a conversion of EXISTING in game jet back geometries to also be available as persistent details? I don't care if they are either unlockable (ala council weapons, etc) or premium (new carnie bits) or you guys still have the range of your business model to be generous and make them just plain free. In particular, I'm talking about that Goldbricker jet pack.
TLDR: I want the Goldbricker jet back as a permanent backpack detail
Or at very least as a new inventable temporary power. -
I thought sniping mechanics were getting looked at in the near-ish future, similar to how Assassin's Strikes got reworked. Not that the mechanic would be just like AS mind you, nothing to my knowledge has been said regarding that, but that sniper powers have been acknowledged to be a problem across the boards.

Quote:Ugh. Don't remind me. That just made me sad. This is what I thought about gun holsters when I heard we were getting a wild west set!
And it reminds me of the official comment about them not doing holsters or back weapons if they "can't do them right" which was then clarified to mean involving drawable weapons. Which then means: "not a dual pistols character? no guns 4 j00!" A terrible costume design availability philosophy at this stage of development for the game, IMO. -
This week's new stuff:
- Attuned travel IO sets (on sale)
- Lion and Liger available for purchase separately at full price of 400pts. per pet
And character slots are still 50% off in all three denominations but this is not front page. -
In game as well, but it looks like the store is down. So guess it'll be a bit before we can see what's new today.
Edit: I can access the store now. So here's what's new:
- Jungle pets are now separated out into Lion and Liger for purchase separately at 400 pts. (non sale price this week, yay! *happy wavey arms*)
- The three attuned travel power IO sets on sale.
As an aside, those character slots in all denominations are STILL on sale at 50% off. Considering all the powerset and AT leaks, if you are close to using yours up, might be a good time to stock up on an extra five. I think I will... -

Everything is at "unknown" for me. So it'll likely be up within the next 10 minutes.

Quote:Nice work!Yeah, I really don't want to lose my base.
I'm fine with rare base love if that's the price for keeping my base. -
To be clear, according to the i23 details that went live early we are slated to get 3 full sets with i23, one of which being tier 9 VIP.
The three sets are: chainmail, leather armor, and mecha (VIP).
The copy on that original release referred to something like "or be a Yeoman archer" which has me hoping that we will finally get a quiver. I badly want a quiver of some sort. -
Quote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usdcpWXPaDYApparently they're still testing the sound effects, as it seems no one can agree what a fast-spinning staff should sound like.
@ 0:42
@ 1:44 (edit: yes I realize both of these aren't staves. but the sound is what I'd prefer.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp5-d7dR6Zg
@ 1:33 and on. the higher pitched sound for the staff length bamboo. the sound for the 20'+ pole is just silly. -
Quote:^ ^ ^I think it would be better at this late stage for the developers to add sufficient customization to allow the players themselves to decide how their origin affects their power options. You can't respec your origin, and no matter how the devs try to reflect origin in power visuals and mechanics they will unavoidably alienate players with different concepts. The benefit doesn't seem to outweigh the costs when it comes to applying origin-specific restrictions.
This. -
Quote:I would go by which inherent power adds the right flavor? What is it? Taser dart versus a tranquilizer dart? One has electrical FX trailing it, the other is like a sleeping needle. Both could fit depending upon how you see this character.I made a new robot character this weekend and gave him the science origin, as he is a creation of science rather than one who uses technology.
Now I'm wondering if I was thinking about it wrong... How do others see the origin of a robot character?
I often use the origin power as the final decision maker on things like this. -
Quote:Bases as old system. Lairs as new system. Works for me.They could just sell personal lairs in the Marketplace and leave the base system as is.
Lairs as personal housing. Or as special rooms that can also be attached to existing non-PvP ready bases? Awesome! (Especially if lairs had the benefit of new tilesets, non-cubic geometry, and windows to thematic deep exteriors--i.e. convincing orbital observation decks, undersea portholes, etc etc.) -
Quote:I could see something like this happening. I have mixed feelings about it.Perhaps it's an origin-based power pool, and Magic's pool is called Sorcery. Since it's an incomplete implementation the bug isn't just that Sorcery is there, it's also that Sorcery is listed for characters of other origins and should be called something for them. (I checked both Magic and Mutant origin characters and both list Sorcery.)
Players have long wished that character origin counted for something other than which DOs and SOs you can buy. Maybe this is how that will be implemented.
But more power pools? More flavor? Awesome!
Are they preworked for customization so when that comes around? Boy howdee I hope so! -
MM customization is a whole 'nother ball of wax IMO. Would love to see it happen. I know both sides of the arguments for how it could, why it shouldn't, what limitations might or might not be necessary, etc.
End of the day, my preference would be that pet customization simply makes something like Clown MM's (joke or no joke) unnecessary. Colors. Some clothing options. Some gear options. And emblems. Definitely want my henchmen in most cases sporting my emblem.

RP-wise, doesn't anyone remember that Neutron Bomb at the conclusion of a certain arc? Well as far as one of my more sinister villains is concerned, that bomb made it close enough to the surface that it killed oodles in her name.
I like my RP. A lot. And I like knowing my characters through different lenses. But at the end of the day, dang, it's mostly "pretendy funtime improv theatre." An empty stage can be a wasteland can be a palace can be a county fair. Ignore what canon you need to amongst your various circles or teams. Adjust it on a per character basis. Just enjoy yourself. Enjoy the stories you participate in, whether you take them fully from what the devs offer or actively write and edit the material to suit you.
But at the end of the day, not all players want to take such an active role writing their own story. So the devs need to give us SOMETHING for people to run through. If you're not one of these people, consider it at best then an early draft. A skeleton if you will, to first be rearranged and then to graft your own ideas onto. Nobody is going to penalize you for shifting the story so much in your own head or amongst a tight group of likeminded players. -
Quote:Who's to say that this isn't an alternate Praetoria. I mean, there may be ANOTHER alternate dimension where it doesn't end this way...They just removed an entire RP concept from the players, want to RP as a Preatorian post I23? Too bad everyone's dead.
...infinity is funny like that. -
Or a shape shift pool complete with pop-up power tray like the coming Panther Stealth travel power?
-
If someone at Paragon *is* reviewing and taking notes, I want to get in this early pre-Beta feedback:
Though I welcome the QoL portal changes described in that feature list, please look at [long range teleport]. The power could use a buff to justify taking it as a power.
A couple things to consider, obviously within balance of pay powers and other game travel features:
- Reduce the cast time to that of TP as opposed to that of the mission teleporter, SG base teleport, pocket D porter, etc.
- Allow LRT to go to all zones you have access to including Praetorian, old hazard and maybe even echo zones (post lvl 14)?
- Have a line at the top of the list for SG Bases allowing LRT to then access a sub-menu of all SG bases you have access to
- Allow LRT to port directly to active mission (may be overpowered)
- Have multiple hotspots per zone--3 to 5? Or one per neighborhood? When selecting a zone with LRT, then follows with a secondary menu listing hotspots or neighborhoods you can port to allowing one to use LRT to port more precisely to zones.
- Permit Vigilantes or Rogues using LRT to port to the other side.
Currently on live, the power is an underwhelming (but sometimes thematically interesting) power choice. I fear when the new portal network goes live, this power choice will be even less useful relative to the non-power choice options. -
Quote:In this day and age (and not just at Paragon), it's hard to tell what is a mistake, what is a leak, and what is strategic. This several hour pre-beta feature peak has many people on all the servers chatting in hushed tones now about i23. Perhaps more so than if it were the full and final feature list in a proper reveal. Just sayin'.Yay! Another marketing nightmare for Zwillinger to mop up...
*facepalm*
Dude, I sure hope they pay you enough. We can't afford to lose you.
Only question: does this take the wind out of there sails for the big unveil at the upcoming fan event? Or do they have several nuggets squirreled away regarding from here through the rest of the year that they plan to reveal regardless. I.e. new premium powersets beyond Staff Melee and what not. -
Long Range Teleport *needs* to be looked at in light of this. The power should permit you to port to pretty much ANY zone you have access to, including your SG base if you have one.
On the flip side: three new costume sets which, depending upon how they tint, I anticipate getting a good bit of wear on some of my characters. (one is tier 9. and may that leather armor set PLEASE include a quiver finally!)
Edit: from what I read, not much in particular for Premiums or F2Ps other than the QoL. I'm assuming Night Ward content (the arcs at least) will be a premium purchase for non-VIPs.
Edit 2: Shouldn't the issue be called "Where Shadows Dwell" vs. "Where Shadows Lie"? -
Quote:Completed one with a full team today. But then failed one due to the reactor not accepting heals AND doing DoT damage to itself during the whole trial.Any chance we can get a new WST blue side? The reactor is bugged making the whole thing nearly uncompletable.
The final phase of the Terror Volta trials needs a fix over all. -
FWIW, just saw them both on live and they do appear a little larger than before. Enough so that I didn't mind throwing a few points at them as I have two existing characters that could make use of them as decoration. Hopefully, ideally, my use of points (more particularly the extra lump sums I've spent on points) can be used to help develop some of the stuff I more deeply desire:
- Costume packs the caliber of the upcoming Retro Sci Fi
- Alternate power animations for classic animations
- A dual aura system
- "Armpit" capes/geometry/wings
- Revamped silver and golden age core costume bits
- Generic reflective costume tights
- Generic glowing tights
- MM minion customization
- Power pool customization
- New MM sets: Dinosaurs, Prehistoric Animals, Clowns (or customization options to decorate our thugs, mercs or ninjas clownishly, including the shoes!), Ice Sculptures
- etc. etc.
But for now, meh, a few points on another decoration: why not, I suppose?
