  1. While the video may have been awesome for me, personally, and many other vets of the game, I get the feeling the video is not going to win over that many new customers.

The biggest deal about I9 is the inventions system, of course, so when the video gets to the part about creating your own "stuff", like weapons, what does the video reveal to us? A sledgehammer... and a baseball bat. People who are expecting to see super-duper heroic pyrotechnic blasts of high-powered mega goodness would obviously be disappointed.

Me, on the other hand, can't wait to whup bad guys upside the head with a baseball bat. It's almost an insult to hold off on my galactic super-powered blasts of doom to smack the bad guy in question with a big stick. Also, inventing simple stuff like a pistols or bows is going to be really handy for pulling with melee ATs.

    Cryptic article.

    Way to over react.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Quoted for emphasis.

Look: If Cryptic, Marvel, and Microsoft got together and said, "We are pleased to announce the development of City of Heroes 2!" We all would be jumping for joy.

Instead, they said "We are pleased to announce the development of Marvel Universe Online!" In other words, it looks like MUO is going to be CoH2. I've already gotten used to this.

I will admit I will miss the CoH universe and all the cool villain groups. But I'm willing to give MUO a chance: Cryptic, at this point, has years of MMO experience in industry behind them and are the one and only company that can make an MMO that deals with superheros specifically. Since they are learning and building upon all the mistakes and successes of CoH/V, I'm willing to put my money on them developing MUO into a game that will really knock our socks off.

    Mature Roleplay

The essay, while indeed a very good one, has also likely been plagiarized from White Wolf sourcebooks. I have nothing against the content of the essay, but please give credit where credit is due.
  4. I personally view online roleplaying as kind of like a combination of writing and improv acting. Writers and actors can get emotionally involved with a character they are in control of, and I believe even JK Rowling said she cried when she killed off one of the major characters in her Harry Potter series of books. So yeah, I guess it's okay for something that happens to your character to tug at your emotional heartstrings.

But the flip side of the coin is that all too often, some roleplayers will take bad stuff that happens to their characters as a personal slight and go off into a fit of histronics, creating a lot of internet drama. As long as you don't take things this far, everything is peachy.

"Statesman: I would’ve thought that bases would have gotten more attention, to be honest."

Even if bases where free and everything thing in it , they would still be boring. Running from one side of the base to the other isn't going to make people stop playing WOW and other MMo's.

    Combo's
    Loot
    Skills
    Crafting

This would make COH/COV fun for me and would get players attention IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

it never ceases to amaze me that WoW type fantasy gamers STILL come in here asking to have all those garbage things from their hack n slash games brought in here. The *LACK* of loot, crafting, and skills is what makes CoH such a breath of fresh air compared to that tired old Diablo formula. Please go to WoW if you like that stuff, or break your keyboard, or forget your forum password.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Add me to the list of players who do not wish to see loot in this game.

What is your deal? I already told you, I'd have to go find out what the powers do then find somebody to show me the animations. I've never seen ninja powers in action, and there's a LOT of guesswork involved with going from description to actual mechanical power effect. I mean, sorry, but I just don't know the set.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well 'scuse me for livin'! I figured since you wrote a long exhaustive guide about "Natural" characters you could at least take your best guess at this one. Forget I even asked.

    Does this help any?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, having never seen that before, yes, the names allow me to take slightly more educated guesses, but really, I'd have to go find out what the powers do then find somebody to show me the animations. As I said in my guide, it's a question of power effect, animation, and fudge factors that are more or less understood by convention, in the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Okay, I took the time to take an individual screenshot of the description of each and every power, then cut and paste them all into one easily viewable format.

So does this help you with an answer?

How do you feel about the /Ninjitsu secondary for Stalkers in terms of how appropriate it is for Natural villains?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd have to read it more closely. I go the impression it referenced strongly magical abilities attributed to folkloric/cinematic ninjas, so, I dunno.

[/ QUOTE ] Does this help any?

Preach it sister! If you think the endless schoolgirls were bad when issue 4 went live, the thoughts of the army of Neo clones that will plague Rhode Island's most dangerous city the day after Trenchcoats go live sends shivers down my spine.

We just received tech that will allow players to pass buffs onto certain powers (such as Blizzard).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have an AR/Dev blaster and I wonder if this means that Targetting Drone will buff the accuracies of Trip Mine, Time Bomb, and Auto Turret?

I apologize if this has already been mentioned in this big, big thread.

My fiance likes it in that she knows where I am. i'm not at the bar, or the strippers, talking to girls or what have you. She knows i'm inthe comptuer room, playing a game with friends.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So...you haven't shown her where the strippers hang out in Paragon yet, I take it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Those are Carnies, Troy. And besides, it's easy to justify why we hang around them all the time. They're criminals who like it rough! Er- need to be roughed up!

I don't know if I should feel happy that it was staged and I thought something was wrong with it (that number crunch was way to... off and the way Leroy just comes back... felt odd), or that I should feel sad that it was staged and I wanted so much to believe it was real

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, it's staged alright. But you know that you have witnessed something occuring along the lines of what happened in that video, either in this game or another.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The fact that it was staged doesn't make it any less funnier for me. I mean, heck, sitcoms are staged and they can be pretty funny.

    For the uninitiated:

The movie that spawned the internet phenomenon: LEEROY JENKINS!

A straight cut to the funny part for those who don't have the patience to wait for the movie stream.

Not when stuck in animation. Full auto has a six second long animation. Also note that ninjas freak the mighty Hell out when set on fire and do a lovely job running all over the place and aggroing extra spawns. Yeah, set the ninjas in passive? Well, when they're attacking something irregardless of disposition they'll react to the fear in the fire patches.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Have you tried pulling them far enough away so that the ninjas don't aggro anything regardless of how far they run?
