Really? I don't seem to recall being able to gain 26 levels by running 5 missions before MA...
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats because you couldnt load an entire map with nothing but comm officers before the AE
Got nothing to do with average exp gain when you're stacking the map. :P
[/ QUOTE ]
No Rikti Comm Officers or Headmen were used for this at all...

Pssst....Liberate TV will give a lowbie much more than 5 levels for 1 run.
The difference now is the lowbies don't pay for farms and there is no need for perma 46 bridges. The lowbies can come right on in and help earn their exp. This adds to the speed of the runs as well. -
aye sounds correct, no more than 9999 in one mission, so if you want the badges for going over, you will have to have some tickets already then cap yourself.
-
I routinely run missions for about a 6k per run ticket haul. Witht he patch today I get similar hauls solo or teamed. it is a largish map, and while not kill all I treat it as such.
-
The only "farms" I have seen taken out are those that used exploits. Things like the RWZ mobs that were dropping higher than normal rewards. The FFG's from skyraiders that would have 5 or 6 going at once to make them all but untouchable. Anything else is just using tools already available and have been left alone to my knowledge. I still have yet to see a redname post anything outlawing farming, only in the use of exploits to do so.
-
You guys briefly touched on another possibility that I would like to bring back up. Alot of people do have max/min characters. I have a brute that walks through normal content with minimal effort on relentless. My arcs designed to provide myself and those I play with a challenge again. Arcs where minions are bosses, lt's are EB's, and bosses are AV's are actually a challenge to us...sometimes. We label these things accordingly. When you see names like "proving grounds" or "scrapper challenge" these are gonna be rough. These missions are more about how far you get not necessarily "I win"
Just my 2 inf. -

And perma 12s and 14s, and 1s if you like.
They've also made TFs once per day events. Can't get the same reward twice in a day.
They've also been asked in interviews how they'll stop exploiters (which is what farmers are) from gaining max reward at minimum risk.
You can no longer spawn snake eggs in MA arcs.
You can no longer spawn Vampyri Generators in MA Arcs.
You get no salvage or recipe drops from MA arcs.
All custom MA enemies must now have at least 1 attack based set.
All of these things were put in place to AVOID farming of 'easy' content with high rewards.
The Devs are against Farming.

TF's can be run as many times as you like, just with diminishing returns to merit reward. Most people who do run these over and over do so for the high exp value (ITF springs to mind)
And yet they have never come out and stated farming is illegal.
Egg, Generators, non attacking enemies, stacking multiple ffgs...these were all exploits of course they were removed along with higher than proper value kills such as the "rikti dolls".
It still remains however, that farming in and of itself isn't against the rules. Otherwise they would have put a stop to the many maps used to do so in their own content, much less player created. The minute someone can post me a link showing me where a red name posts farming is against the rules, I will be more than happy to join the reporting crowd. Until that time, I am a firm believer in live and let live. If Story Stacy likes to run artistic content..good hunting. If farmer Fred likes to run farms...good hunting. The only time I care is when the rules are in violation. I personally only farm my toons when I am already familiar with the powersets in question. If it is a new powerset I am unfamiliar with, I prefer the hard way to give myself time to learn the ins and outs. Once I hit 50, I farm like crazy on the toon to provide myself with the pretty toys I want. Even it that is running the wall in Cim...that is still farming. Basically...live and let live. Until a redname comes out and says farming is an exploit and is illegal, it will continue in the open because that is what they enjoy doing. -

No it's not fixed.
I just ran through my farm map which gives me about 3000 tickets total solo (before mission complete bonus). When I was teamed with someone, we each got a little over 1100 tickets each, for a total of 2200 tickets, so a lot of tickets seem to be evaporating going from solo to duo.
So if you want your tickets, keep solo until for real fix this bug. Two strikes so far.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, that is pretty much the same result I have had. If you want tickets, keep soloing. -
Chances are that if you have to ask, then it is too risque.
-
It doesn't say in the release notes that farms are illegal. All it says is that if if it contains an exploit it is bad. IF you make a map of 100's of self rezing whatsits to go and kill...you are well within your limits. If there is some bugged critter giving AV rewards and it's a pet that dies from 1 point of damage and you use that...that is an exploint and shold be reported. There is a big difference. Not all farms are illegal, just the ones using exploits. So, once again, I say I hope CS keeps track of those who over use the report system and there are concequences for their actions.

Find which arc they're doing and report it for content?
[/ QUOTE ]
Can you please link where exactly it says making farms is against the rules?
As far as i'm concerned, i will only report an arc for content if it is in violation of copyright, language, sexual content, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
start reporting farms for content and the machine will bog down making it slower/harder to take down actually offensive content.
my friend's young son plays this game... let's concentrate on the real problems, not just play styles some people don't enjoy.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you're confusing playstyles with a mission that gives out rewards that are disproportional to the rest of the game.
No one really cares if someone likes doing a certain mission over and over. The problem occurs when the reward ratio is out of whack. When the later is happening that mission needs to be reported.

But here is the rub....I have yet to see any posts set by a red name to say that you should only be seeing X tickets/ badges/ exp/ inf per hour. I have seen that for merits, but even that is flexible based on builds, team, and experience. The dev's set the limits for the number of clickies, ambushes, boss mobs, etc for each map. So we are wrong for taking advantage of that when it is listed in architect for the world to see? If the dev's don't want me to do it, then they should reduce the "nodes" on their maps available for me to plug something into.
Everyone knows that if you want to tip the balance of the ticket gathering, just run solo...preferably padded...and you can cap out each mission. Synapse has stated that this is borked code and the fix hit Test already. That is the only fix i have heard so far. I work with what I am provided with. I do enjoy maximizing reward for time spent...I enjoy shaving seconds off TF times and wish that the game kept track of the offical record times so I could see what the "best" run is and work towards beating it. If the dev's don't want me to put 40 clickies in a mission, don't allow that many collection nodes on a map. Or atleast state anything more than X number of Y is wrong and we will take it down. Until that is done, giving something a terrible rating is your OPINION. Reporting someone because they have a farm published is griefing them and their playstyle. I truely hope that the CS team keeps logs so that patterns like that can be tracked and the false reporters can be banned from the architect. -
I will say this about farming....
Have you been to Grandville on Freedom? There is no pay to farm threads anymore...with autoexempts, and difficulty modifiers, any team can go in and do what they want. I actually had to laugh because alot of "pay farm veterans" were sitting in GV lamenting over their lost business wondering where they would not find their infamy to enhance their new toons.
If that isn't an improvement in the game, I don't kow what is. -
And just another thought....
Almost everyone farms, it is just a matter of degree. I have never met the man who has never reset a mission, or stayed on a team that reset a mission because it was good exp, good inf, or was great mobs for a badge.
And lets not forget doing things like hunting cold demons or family bosses for accolades. It is all farming, the only question is how much of it do you do. -
To play the counter argument for a moment.
I wish people would stop spamming broadcast with LFM for standard content. Can't people understand that the sheer volume of farming and AE missions for such means their chosen method is in the minority and they should bend to the masses?
You see, your arguements against farming are rather rediculous when the script is flipped. I enjoy teaming. If that teaming is farming, tf, sf, papers, or stories I don't care. All I say is that I do not doorsit. If I am in a mission, i want action. That is a personal choice for me. I don't begrudge anyone their fun. If you have fun with stories, find a sg that enjoyes the same thing. If you enjoy farms, ditto. I never have trouble finding groups of what i want to do because i keep sgmates that have similar intrests. 90 percent of my grouping is with them. Very rarely do Pug's even enter into my life except when i'm playing during off hours because of my insomnia. Did this network spring up over night, no. It came into existance over 2 years of networking. People coming people going people being kicked. Play the game, make friends, do your thing. Above all else...live and let live. -

Make your custom enemy group, then put an ally or hostage or something in there from a standard group that is only lvl 50 and higher. The mission will automatically raise everyone below that level mark up to it for a vil difficulty. For a relentless dif it will make everyone lvl 48 who isn't that high already. It will leave 49's and 50's their normal levels.
Wallah, I can now take anyone of any level I want along with me to play not just so many lowbies and so many highbies. Think of it as the inverse of what ouro missions do. If that doesn't encourage teaming i don't know what does. Noone doorsits, everyone is within combat ranges. Everyone fights and we play as a group. Hmmmmm....and this is bad because? -
So let me get this straight...
I am an officer in a large villian group.
One of our members created an AE mission for us that is very farmlike, lots of things to kill, no story, but set up so that no matter what level one of our members are, they can join us without having to worry about needing a lacky. We go in, have do our thing, laugh and joke and play as a villan group. But this is wrong because you would definately consider it a farm? It is rated 5 star, by almost 100 people. To me it is more important that I can bring a lvl 1, 10, 35, 18, 22, 44, 50, and 40 into a mish and have fun together without the need for a lacky.
You would definately consider the mish a farm. We consider it hanging out with our sg mates and helping them level. Not everyone cares about a story in their missions. For some, it is the act of teaming, not the artistic merits of so and so's storytelling ability.
One person's farm is another person's community. -
Ok, please pardon the interuption to the recharge debate.
I have a question reguarding these pets in general. Is recharge the only thing that can carry over from global bonuses? or does Acc and Damage from both the IO and/or the global bonuses carry over to the pet as well? -
I haven't seen an official date anywhere....
However, on Amazon, the City of Heroes: Architect Edition goes on sale April 14th.
