The people who played the market to get rich now are paying for their greed. I say things are balancing out just nicely. One could almost call it Karma o.@

Actually, those of us who truely play the market are making more money than ever before. It is those who try tried to duplicate without understanding that got caught with their pants down. I spend about an hour a day "working" the market. My daily income from this ranges from 10 to 50 million. It ranges as much from finding the niche I want to use for the day as to what day of the week it is. Never have I sat there saying...wow...there is nothing to make money off of. -
LOL, thanks. I saw it when i was bored one night, couldn't sleep, and just kept hitting the feel lucky button on google. Have used it ever since.

Pretty happy with it myself. Its made my purple purchases prior to I14 much more valuable. Its made my regular farming much more profitable
Its made it so much easier to IO out new characters that there is no excuse for anyone not to.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really, more profitable? I didn't see the price of purples inflate (just the common salvage. . .) I just saw their avaliability drop like a rock :/
And as far as padding stuff out. . .personally I'd rather team and I don't think that should decrease the chance for a purple drop.
I don't care if I'm not the one who gets it, so long as someone gets one. . . if every 10 missions I pad for 8 and run solo I get one, I think every 10 missions that has 8 on a team SOMEONE on the team should get one, I don't care who. . . . .
Again, maybe I'm in the wrong here, but. . . .IDK
I have the purples I need. . .so it really doesn't bother me either way to be completly honest, but *shrugs*
I just want to help, if no one agrees, feel free to say it and have the post removed =]
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, the high demand purps have increased in value since i14, just not at the same rate that everything else devalued.
Padding doesn't increase the chance to drop other than provide more enemies for the possibility. You said you run with 4 to 8...when not running the full team, try to find more people to fill just to map the zone so that there are more possibilities for the drop. When loot is determined for each baddie, it determins what loot exactly and then randomly who in the team recieves it. More mobs on the map means more chances the RNG to hit the lotto. If you are running the full team...it is a mute point. Understand better?
As far as your earlier comment regarding 200 million being enough.....that is a matter of personal perception. Enforcing something like would just be putting a pricecap on something. An item is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. That is the nature of the market. It really depends on if your patient enough to wait for one to be in your price range or have a want it now mentality.
I recommend checking the market forums for similar topics. There are many discussions on how to aquire things from the market, even purps, if willing to wait it out. -
A hologram, similar to the holodeck from star trek.
-
Thank you, you are able to state the same thing with much more civility than I could have managed.
-
A ultra expensive merit roll maybe...but 9999 tickets isn't more than a hour of playing.
And yes, purps are supposed to be ultra rare.
My best recommendation to you would be to either pad your badguy count and minimize your team on large maps of 50+ enemies, or run the wall during off hours when there is less competition. -
I'm glad that is what it says to you, because to me it reads nothing but another newbies to the game are stupid make them go away.
Noone is playing my arc cause everyone is farming, make them go away.
I was pointing out that a more proactive promotion for their arcs would probably encourage more people to see it instead of a fire and forget methodology.
However, you have made your stance against anything even remotely profarming and will not engage in civil discourse of it. Thank you for helping turn this into another farm thread...goodbye. -
I would consider story relevant if anyone but the group leader saw it.
Solo, story is acceptable
Grouped...story never wins, keeping the group happy and moving is always more important. -
Welp, after the personal attacks while trying to get a point from the poster, I have instituted what I kept encouraging the poster do. I utilized my ignore button.
Demonstration of my suggestion in action. -
I, on the otherhand, see the previous post as a list of things I liked that improved this issue.
I like the fact that if I feel like playing a support build, I no longer am restricted to team play.
I like the fact that non purps are pretty much available to anyone instead of the powergamer. I like the fact that Other pools besides the gold rolls are now available at a fairly constant supply.
I like the fact that when I form a group to run AE content, 99 percent of the missions will let me take anyone who wants to go without worry of finding mentors for everyone who needs them.
These same things you list as detriments, I cheer. -
[ QUOTE ]
If other players aren't playing the way you want to play for the most part, then I suggest you hang out in the forum for your server of choice and recruit allies there. Or, you can build up a nice big friends list as you meet the occasional player in the game who does want to play your way.
I still mostly play the standard content, but I solo, so I won't be teaming with you either. Also, I like the idea of things becoming less expensive than what the market offered, so I have no sympathy for a collapsed market.
[/ QUOTE ]
Amen -
Any arc can be hero and villian. You just have to go to the RWZ to team together.
Cims are available content to unlock.
And no, I don't recall any outdoor Cim maps either. -
Careful AF, the obvious isn't welcome here.
-
I'm stilll waiting for your point. The only thing there is other people enjoying the game in a manner completely legal, and has nothing to do with me, frustates me. I don't have fun at opera....opera houses should be shut down. I don't have fun in parks, all parks should be shut down. I don't have fun at museums, all museums should be shut down.
All of these are services I pay for with my tax dollars. All of them are available for my use if i choose to utilize them or not. I don't see how my dislike of them in anyway invalidates other people's enjoyment of the events nor does their enjoyment impact in the slightest my enjoyment of the DNR wildelife hike....also paid for by the same tax money. Please. Continue this in PM's if you wish to continue. This thread is very close to being eaten by Mod 8. -

I can understand the indexing being a problem.
But, then again, the Devs are somewhat working on fixing that by tapering some of the farmable content (Hopefully).
Yes, it's under some pretty intense strain. But a lot of that strain is undue. I mean, as listed above: I published "Full Moon Rising" at midnight on a weekday. Pretty low key time of day, right? The instant that I published it, it got buried under about 30-50 "KILL THE RIKTI" arcs.
The problem isn't that people are making farms, IMO. It's that they're making the SAME farms over and over and over again. Free up that extra space, give it to us to play with. There are those of us who have yet to publish a single farm, and don't want to. We want to create unique stories for others to enjoy
[/ QUOTE ]
Please dont' even bring up farming...I really don't want another thread digressing off it's topic. -
[ QUOTE ]
Please consilidate this into one of the 50000000000000 other threads of this nature. I recommend the Dev started one in the developers corner section dealing with i14 feedback.

Stickied in the developer's corner section of the board like i told you at the beginning of your thread. -
If that is your concern, I would think that would be feedback on i14 yes?
-

[ QUOTE ]
And here I am with my little story arc that chances are no one will play because all anyone does is farm. Once upon a time I was so jazzed about I14. Now I have no inspiration to write any more arcs because I don't see the point when like, 10 people total will play them. Maybe.
[/ QUOTE ]
Amen, brother. I feel the same way. Why work so hard to develop a classic comic feel and story when all anyone wants to do is make leveling easier on themselves? Isn't leveling easy enough? I'm beginning to think the game is being dumbed down to a level that will erode what makes it great. I mean, am I the only one who actually reads all the mission text?
[/ QUOTE ]
So we should all be forced to run your arc instead of doing what we want to???
Have you tried promoting your arc? Turning it over to the critics? Lead groups through it? Or are we just supposed to rub a magic lamp and magically pull your arc out of the thousands that are published atm? Not to mention it is only the group leader that sees any of your contact dialog you are so proud of anyway....
Heck you dont' even advertise your arc in your signature...How in the world would anyone find it even if they wanted to? -

Economics
- the rate at which tickets drop has made once valuable items drop drastically in value.
- the market is becoming "worthless" as there are now two alternative, often much less expensive, ways to attain the rare items people need.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree about the Meow-50s. But this... this isn't a problem for me. I am not a marketeer, I don't play the market to exploit others. I am grateful for this change. I am excited, exhuberant, overwhelmingly in favor of this change.
Thank you, thank you, thank you devs for looking after the little guy. We can now support our characters, our alts, our SGs.
The marketeers can trade purples amongst themselves.
[/ QUOTE ]
But that's just it.....this comes from farmers as well. Farmers generate the lionshare of market supply. Without powergamers maxing tickets or merits...where does the supply get made up from? Don't tell me content either. Content cannot even come close to matching speed runs for material generation. It is kind of like the difference between hand crafted and mass production. A hand crafted product may or not be of better quality, but mass production can do it faster, with fewer resources, cheaper, with less training. You may not like it, but you don't want to live without it either. Farming is a needed part of every MMO economy. For some, playing the economy is the real game in and of itself. Market PvP is the onlything that has kept the game interesting to alot of people for an issue or two now. -

[And in doing so make the game frustraing for those of us who like to play in a reasonable, intelligent fashion not governed by go-fever and treasure-lust.

Must be nice to have the right to force others to do things your way to satisfy your whims
[/ QUOTE ]
You tell me. You're the one forcing me to put up with things I find frustrating.
[ QUOTE ]
Please expand on how one group farming is intruding on how you play your game?
[/ QUOTE ]
You make the gaming environment frustrating. I have to choose between turning off the broadcast channel, or else put up with hundreds of farm-spam an hour just on the off chance that someone says something I want to hear. That is frustrating, and frustrating equals not fun.
It is growing increasingly difficult to put together a team for non-AE content at all, let alone non-farm AE content. Three out of four times I invited someone to a team today, the person would join, and then immediately quit when they found out we'd be doing missions rather than just farming. Six out of the six teams I was invited to today were AE farm teams, despite my search comment being "I DO NOT FARM! NO EXCEPTIONS!" That is frustrating, and frustrating equals not fun.
The lag caused by the gathering o' farmers is frustrating. Frustrating equals not fun.
The fact that, like others here have found, no one is interested in playing story arcs that actually have stories, despite the hours one puts into their AE creations is frustrating. Frustrating equals not fun.
The arrogant, overbearing, and pushy attitude farmers have toward non-farmers is frustrating. (Best example? How about the human toadstool who, just a couple of posts ago in this very thread, called me lazy and stupid, which, given that the entire concept of farming is based on "I don't want to have to actually play the game" is also hypocrisy writ large?) Frustrating equals non-fun.
The utter lack of concern farmers hold toward other people is frustrating. When we non-farmers bring up how we dislike the entire City of Farmers problem, your immediate reaction is to poo-poo our concerns as if we weren't really feeling what we were feeling (or even better, tell us we have no justification for our feelings), and that we have to allow you to play as you like and are evil or something for even considering trying to make farming harder for you... but that we, the non-farmers, just have to suck it up when you, the farmers, make it harder for us to have fun too. That's frustrating. And frustrating equals not fun.
[ QUOTE ]
Because all you are saying to those of us on the other side is that "You guys should be made to play like I want you to" All we are saying is "We should be allowed to play like we want and you should be allowed to play like you want as long as noone is breaking any rules."
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, but "not breaking any rules" isn't good enough, I'm afraid. Its entirely possible in this game to treat another human being like fecal material without breaking any rules; the fact that its not against the rules doesn't make it right.
If what you are doing makes things less fun for me, then you should be willing to compromise with me to make things fun for both of us. I'm certainly willing. I've yet to hear one farmer say anything of the sort, however; as I have already pointed out, the average response from farmers is "S T F U!".
Really constructive. And frustrating. And you should know by now what frustrating equals.
Addendum: The atttitude the farmers are displaying now really reflects back to the gankers and the poo monkeys who used to howl and rage and beat their chests any time anyone suggested that it wasn't their perfect right to screw over other human beings in PvP. Not just beat them, but humiliate them, make fun of them, insult them, and drive them out of PvP.
Are you guys really sure you want *that* to be your representative attitude?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ahhhh...but that is the rub isn't it. YOU haven't given us any middle ground either. Your entire stance is for us to stop doing what we like to do. You don't see any of us complaing about your mission teams. We just drop and move on to something we want to do. Did you explain to them that you were doing missions before you invited them? Or did you just blindly invite them even though you have the same problems with it. You can't do something yourself, then complain when someone else does it to you on the other end of the spectrum.
Once more, I ask anyone who wishes to calm down and have a serious debate about this to PM me and we'll talk. But this everyone should be forced somehow to play like me crap is getting very old.
Where is the live and let live? -
I would recommend moving any further discussion to the "official" feedback thread here in the Developer's Corner section of the boards.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....part=1&vc=1 -
I recommend the DEV created post I14 feedback thread...
Don't feel bad, I only found it today. -
My opinions:
1) LEVEL SPEED. People's examples of extreme leveling existed prior to AE, atleast redisde it did. One run through a Lib TV on a 8 man team with a 46 mentor was enough to do about the same thing. The only limiting factor was if you had the bank account to afford the farm price. All that has happened is you removed the pay to farm mechanic, doorsitting, and forced the RMTers into a scramble trying to salvage their income.
2) Economy. Economies are not constant. There is always a state of flux. IF not there would be stores instead of markets. Yes, common and uncommon salvage prices are averaging 100 to 200 thousand each, but rare salvage has also dropped from 3 to 6 million each to around 400 to 600 thousand. Recipies (except purps) have all devalued in price due to increased availablilty. Allowing people without 2billion in their accounts access to the IO's and materials needed for tricked out builds. To me, this is a very very good thing.
3) Teaming. Teaming is still there. I recommend researching Private channels and supergroups that are dedicated on each server to content vs powergaming if that is your intrest. My teams very rarely make it to broadcast. When I am in the mood to do content, I normally ask my Coalition first, then go through my private channels I am a member of. After that, I might look at a LFT list or broadcast once...but normally I will just go with who I have. Just because people don't want to do the same stuff you do, doesn't mean they are wrong. Just because you don't see them, doesn't mean they are not out there either.
4) Inexperienced players....let me get this right....the fact that there are new players coming into the game regardless of level upsets you? The fact that they are out of the AE and out in the zones and don't know where something is makes you OMGZOR instead of helping them? THAT was your chance to show them something different...to help them along, talk to them about various other aspects of the game. You would be suprised how few people actually do this instead of just assuming that everyone else knows everything as well. I make it a point to talk to new players, answer questions, ask about difficulties, and then teach them what I can. I offer to have them add my main to their friends list so they can find me again later for further consultation. You would be surprised how many come back weeks later to ask more questions with a new at they are trying out. Any new player is a good thing. PERIOD.
5) FARMING. Farming is not against the rules. Using an Exploit is. Do I feel some mobs need a nerf...yes, and the patch is on test for them. However, if someone chooses to farm, that is their game choice. When the dev's issue the rules saying farming is against them, I will champion the cause. Posi himself says the Dev team has discussed with raised voices the issues of farming and what limits, if any are imposed and that the current system is what they feel is appropriate. Farming is nothing more than powergaming. It is no more an invalid playstyle choice as roleplay, casual, or artist. As long as no exploits are being used, then there is no issue. Let them play their game, and you play yours. When one of them stubbles out of the AE building, do your best to teach and instruct and nurture them...they are the ones you want to try to get to do your content missions remember.
6) RATINGS. Ratings are a beauty contest. Nothing more. While I do not subscribe to griefing, some people are insanly jealous that farm mission are ranked higher than their precious work of art. Farmers care little about ratings. We care about the reward. I do feel a revamped rating system is in order, however, not everyone is going to like your mission either.
My feedback from i14.
And remember peeps, alot of issues are already being fixed with the test patch and the layout for i15 that has been uneiled already. -
Oh look.....another one...please..no more.
