you have 2 sides; a team that's in and a team that's out.. two men in the team that's in go out and when one of the men who's in is out; the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out; the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get min still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in; the men who are out are trying to get him out; and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decided when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out; and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game.

Then you do the hokey-cokey and you turn around, that's what it's all about! -

Sooo.. Time for some predictions in the new regime! Here's 2 to start with!
1. EU players with name conflicts will get shafted.
2. Many EU posts, such as our Creative and RP sections, will just vanish
[/ QUOTE ]
I sincerely hope that point 2. doesn't happen. Both of those sections have so much work and effort invested in them (as do others, admitedly) that it would be a travesty to lose them. -

Last hour

50 minutes, actually - you mad scientitsts need to be more precise with your calculations
[/ QUOTE ]
We're within the last hour - you capes need to less literal!
[/ QUOTE ]
Not good enough - if you were a mad scientist with any sense of self worth and style, you'd have a giant clock in your secret lab counting down the minutes and seconds until the forums go down

Aaaaand STILL no FAQ... You owe me pie, GG. And none of that cinnamon [censored] you lot put in them either... Way to ruin a pie, that is!

I don't believe you ever accepted the bet

He did! He did!
I saw it!
*nudges FFM* so how's about a slice of that then? Only if it's any good though..
[/ QUOTE ]
Never seen FFM in RL, but purely going off the forum name I'd guess you're being highly optimistic thinking you'd get a piece of good pie off him.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have met him in RL, and I have even seen someone successfully "Float the Fatman" - but I couldn't. Then again, he is pretty generous. But no pie is safe. -

I feel strangely free knowing that all senseless spamming will soon be wiped away.

Liberating, isn't it? A bit like sitting in the office in only your kecks. -

But I know you Euro types have a sense of humor, so it's ok

Nonsense. We have a sense of humour, instead. Far more refined. -

If your looking at the forums when it gets brought down does the screen go black with the words

Would you like to play a game? -

I don't think there'll be many language or spelling problems - the humour ones might cause a little confusion, but that's about all
[/ QUOTE ]
Corrected that for you. -

Awesome parody.
Interestingly, though, the original post that this is based on spelt "the" correctly, just as Coin has, above - it got changed at an indeterminate point later on to the ubiquitous "teh".
There you go - fun factoid of the week. -
Posting to the last! Keep up the good work, folks, and see you on the other side.
Of course, according to the announcement we have until at least 3.00 this afternoon before it all goes off. -

well, happily that's about to become a non-issue.

Probably the best thing about a forum merge. A single, central place for the Dev's to post for everyone.

^This.
Though I do have some concerns about timing. The support on the EU forums recently has gone heaywire mostly because Avatea simply isn't at work when most of us do our posting (during working hours in the EU). The 8 hour time difference is quite telling. As long as some care is taken to ensure that posts made by us lot over here aren't lost in an early-morning flurry of posts by them lot over there, then this should be pretty awesome. -
I have roughly 400 saved - many of them old RP-info posts that were extremely relevant back in the day. I keep them for historical reasons.
-
Well, have tried it several times, and it sure isn't working for me. Don't know if this is because it's somehow being blocked, or if it's not finding PMs on the European forums.

It's a natural progression if you're talking about disabling the look of buffs
If the devs would go to the trouble of allowing players to turn off buff color effects, then they should also allow players to turn off the actual stuff that buffs do.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, no. All colours are rendered client-side. Yes, the server is telling the client what to display, but the client is where the option to not display custom colours would be stored. So disabling the "look of buffs" has nothing to do with the ability to disable the buffs themselves, which is information handled server-side. That makes it a QoL change vastly outside the scope of recolouring.
I do not deny that as a QoL issue it would be nice to be able to remove unwanted buffs, but as far as I can tell it frankly has nothing to do with the ability to colour them and/or display the wanted and/or unwanted colours. In fact, an option for "do not display custom colours" is undoubtedly hugely easier to implement than a command that actually adds or removes something from a particular character.
Hands up who wants to take time in the middle of combat (simultaneously) accepting or denying any and all of: Speed Boost, Fulcrum Shift, Transfusion, Transference, Inertial Reduction, Siphon Power, Shadow Fall, Deflection Shield, Insulation Shield, Dispersion Bubble, Force Bubble, Radiant Aura, Accelerate Metabolism, Sonic Barrier, Sonic Haven, Disruption Field, Clarity and Sonic Dispersion... because that's what my regular All-Defender Team would end up having to do. Even that aside, if you would rather have the (complex coding required) ability to cancel buffs (whether when activated or after they're on the character) rather than revert them to their "natural" colour scheme, I suggest the... umm... Suggestions forum.
Oh, and as for "lrn2read", there's no need to get personal, but my response is "learn to write" - I apparently misread what you said, Croesis (having read what you wrote as actually being an on-topic point about colour, since that's what you started talking about, not buffs as a whole), so next time make what you say clearer, hmm? "It" is the indefinite article and can far too easily be misconstrued without clarification. -
GG, as far as I can tell, you are the only person talking about that. Everyone else is talking about a client-side "do not display custom colours" option. Get with the conversation and stop trying to force it into an off-topic discussion of something that you want.

Welcome to the forum!
It could be a problem with Vista, but it may well be a problem with your graphics settings. Firstly, make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. Then try starting CoH in safe mode (check box on the launcher), and once you're in-game start to slowly increase your graphics settings. If it is your graphics settings, this will allow you to identify which of the settings is causing the problem.
If it's not this, I'm sure one of our resident Vista gurus will be happy to assist. -
An alternative might be to flag them as Escorts, rather than release captives, set them up as non-combatants, and make it a lead-to-exit, then throw another "required" objective on afterwards (say a boss spawn after the rescues, or setting the mission as a defeat all as well). That should satisfy all of the requirements. The only downside to this is that it can lead to some severely non-linear (worst-case is back-and-forth) movement in a map for the players.

On a UK keyboard it's # for the main menu. ' brings up the list of emotes.
Neither were the Doomsday Switch. I'm worried now, because I can't remember which one it is. Oh well, I'm sure we can always rebuild Europe later.
Now, what about a keystroke for the health/stamina status bar? I bet you don't know that one!
[/ QUOTE ]
Now, what was the slash command to show UI... -
Umm... it's either the # key (UK keyboard) or the ' key. I can never remember which.
-
Yes. The released captive is despawning as a result of leaving the mission, but the objective is to keep them alive. Tell the captive to do nothing after being rescued and see if that prevents the failure. Change the Rescued Dialogue to something like "I'll wait here while you finish up." if that's the only way to keep the mission working.

For anyone interested, you can keep track of the goings on with DtWT HERE.

The only reason for "long downloads" between boots of the game are shortcut issues - if the shortcut points to the wrong place, or is trying to find a version of the game that's not installed (US launcher when you have the EU game installed, as mentioned above).
Boot CoH (and double, triple and quadruple check that it's pointing a .EU.exe launcher at the game) in safe mode. That will make it look awful, but it should allow login.
And no, logging out of the game before the countdown timer expires will NOT cause any problems. The "Quit Now" button is there for a reason.
