Quote:Didn't one of the devs (Posi?) mention at HeroCon that you could be a sort of gun runner and transfer stuff across the Hero/Villain barrier for profit? I think I remember it from one of the youtube vids or podcasts.I really don't think they are going to let us take anything to the other side. They may have a new system that would create an alternate build that starts at level 1. What our current character has may be locked in so that it will be there if/when we return, but will not be accessible on the other side.
Edit: Can't seem to find it now. Maybe I dreamt the whole thing, but I could have sworn I've heard it somewhere legitimate. -

What ever happened to Bunnythulu? -
Just to clarify, the Rule of 5 is based on bonus name, not the number. So you can have 5 LotG 7.5s in addition to 5 other 7.5s with another name. For example, the Knockback set, who's name escapes me atm, that gives a 7.5% bonus will stack with the LotG bonus because they have a different bonus name.

Quote:Strongly seconded. I, like many others around here I'm sure, am looking to build a new computer when the GR requirements are finalized. Having not built a computer since the AMD64 days (yes, I'm still running a single core) I've fallen so far behind on current tech that I didn't even know where to start.Your dedication to keeping this guide up to date is, and this is an understatement, greatly appreciated. I'm about to ditch my 5 year old self built dinosaur that has served me so well and go the way of SATA and PCI Express - two things that would be completely foreign to me were it not for your guide.
Many, many thanks.
Thanks to you I can build a nice system without breaking the bank and be confident it will perform well. And I can concentrate on scratch building a custom case for it instead of sweating over which brand of memory is better.
Again, thank you for the time you put into this. -
I'm definitely going DP/Mental for a blaster. Thinking about taking teleport, just for the nuke. The mental image of *BAMF>Gun Kata>*BAMF just makes me smile due to the shear craziness of it. Like if Nightcrawler played Bale's character in Equilibrium.
As for a Corr, I'm thinking /storm or /traps for most of the reasons already discussed. Although /dark would probably work extremely well, since you can steam roll through most content just using Fearsome Stare and Tar Patch with the occasional Twilight Grasp thrown in. -
Depends on what you want to use it for. Farming, tfs, teaming, solo? A high recharge farming build is quite different from an exemplar friendly tf runner.
How much are you willing/able to spend? Are purples or PvP IOs a consideration or out of your price range?
If you don't have Mid's, I suggest picking it up and experimenting with a build. If we have somewhere to start we can help more, otherwise we're shooting in the dark.
Also, not to sound snarky, but search is your friend. This comes up a LOT. -

She's a young-ish girl that grew up with her convict dad reading Peter Pan to her at bed time before he went out to commit crimes. When he got caught she started building weapons of mass destruction to break him out.

Mine, well, was originally Captain Sinfonia, for my fraternity in college. (Phi Mu Alpha, they call us Sinfonians) Later on I created a rad/sonic defender that I named Sfortzando, a musical term. It seemed clever at the time, because the toon hit things hard then it was quiet when there were dead. Although apparently it's spelled Sforzando, but I swear I've seen it spelled both ways on pieces I've performed. That got shortened to Sfort by people on Ventrilo and it just kind of stuck.
When I made the move to Freedom from Pro I around the forum migration time I decided I'd consolidate and just took Sfort as my name for everything. -
Solo'd one tonight on my Fire/Shield/Pyre scrapper. No insps or temps. Didn't think to time it as I was just waiting around for my LGTF team to fill up and was curious to see if I could do it. I'd estimate between 5 and 10 mins, but it seemed like a lot longer. Probably won't bother doing it again, but at least I can say I've done it.

Quote:Build Up+Saturated AAO>Shield Charge>FSC>Fire Ball> Clean up what's left (aka Bosses)You compalin about GFS hitting a dead enemy, but you're taking incinerate? How eccentric.
That said. I don't use Incinerate on anything less than a Boss in most circumstances. Even with the recharge on SC, FSC and Fire Ball are up often enough that it takes care of the rest of the mob while I kill the boss.
It seems that the consensus (such that it is) is that I should take whatever I want that I feel works. I'm not very good at the numbers, mostly because I don't have the formulas, but the chain of Inc>FS>Crem>FS feels like it's the best option so far from what I've tried on test. How do I calculate how much recharge it takes to make that fluid? -
Yeah, but I don't have enough slots for RoF or Char in addition to Fire Blast and Fire Ball.
After adding a bit of recharge I can pull off the FS>Inc>FS>Crem chain so long as Hasten is up. I just add in Fire Blast for the brief Hasten downtime and it's perfectly workable. -
I'll have to hop on test and try the Inc>Crem>FS chain. Not sure I have enough recharge to pull it off, but with Fire Ball mixed in it might work out.
Blaze Mastery rocks even more than I expected it too. Just wish they'd rearranged the order a bit so I don't have to take Char/RoF. -
I've been working on my build for my Fire/Shield trying to tweak little things here and there and I've realized that I kind of hate Greater Fire Sword's animation time. On teams things are generally dead before it finishes, and solo I can hit 2 other attacks just as fast or faster. That said, is it insane to drop GFS?
After much reading it seems the drop off between GFS>Inc>Cremate>FS and Scorch>Inc>Cremate>Scorch isn't all that great. ~5%?
By dropping GFS I'd also drop Conserve Power and Grant Cover to make room for Blaze Mastery and rearrange a few slots as needed.
Here's my build. Any other advice is always welcome if something sticks out. Thanks in advance.

I'm gonna throw another hat in the ring for Fire/Thorn. Add Ghost Widow in there for Soul Drain and Dark Obliteration for more AoE goodness. Everything dies, painfully and quickly.
Flashfire > Fling Thorns on the way in > Soul Drain > Thorn Burst > Dark Oblit. > clean up what's left with a sponge. I don't even bother with Fire Cages, but I'll probably throw it in once I get it slotted and proc'd out.
If you're so inclined you can proc /thorny and really amp it up. All of my attacks have at least one proc in them, and in the AoEs more.
Now if they'd just give us quills in place of Thorntrops... -
Hmm... A narrow cone a la Headsplitter would be pretty cool.
That might make me like my Fire/Thorn even more. If that's possible after this latest round of changes. -
I liked my Fire/Thorn before the changes. Now I love her. So much that I started another one on a different server. I just couldn't think of a combo that I would enjoy more.
Even if /thorn came out to be the top AoE, a lot of people would still avoid it for the same reasons a lot of people avoid spines, the look and the redraw. Although after having to redraw the Vet staves all the time, I barely even notice it anymore. Except Impale, I really wish they'd do something about that one. -

Now, what the frick does that mean and why am I yelling it??

Not In My BackYard. Generally used to refer to the construction of Nuclear Power Plants and the battle of local residents to against them. -
Maybe try the controller forum. Lots of Fire/Kin stuff floating around in there. I will say however, that if you're just wanting something to "pwn" then you need to know that Fire/Kin is not an 'I win button" It actually takes a lot of work to do some of the really insane things. Many people don't realize this. Either way, good luck. Fire/Kin can be a lot of fun.
-
I'm no numbers man, but I found your guide to be well written and a great source for people trying to decide what to play. It can be hard to decide what exactly fits sometimes. Great work.

*Who We Are.
The Paragon Special Forces was started by my roommate and myself early this year as a way for us to work toward something of our own while we play, namely a cool base. In the time that has passed we have met many interesting people and have considered expanding. Up until now our personal lives have been rather hectic between school and work and we simply haven't had the time to devote to properly running an SG.
Now that we have a little more time and things have calmed down we have decided to recruit and expand. We are looking for people who wish to have fun, joke around a little and generally enjoy the company of others. We are seeking mature players, no matter how long you've been playing or how many alts or 50's you have. We have few requirements for membership, no required costumes, or prestige quotas. We don't believe that being a member of an SG should be work, it should enhance the fun of the game and help meet like minded people.
