I guess I'm the only who likes the name.

For some reason, these people dont understand that that having more HP = more survivability, assuming you are talking about the same power set and same defensive numbers.
I can see the logic behind thinking that the damage you lose is not worth the extra surviability, at which point that would be an opinion. Stating the SD scrapper is just as survivable as an SD Brute is just being ignorant.
Edited because people don't know how to stay on topic and take everything you say out of context. -
Eh. Crushing can also mean to defeat or subdue, like if you were to "crush" an opponent. It doesn't mean you literally crushed him, just defeated him soundly. When I see Crushing Uppercut, I think of it more along the lines of "defeating uppercut" or "final uppercut." Since I'm assuming that it's a finishing move, the naming makes sense.

I understand what you're saying, Kenteko. It is true that if an attack does enough damage to one shot either character, then it is the one with higher HP that is losing out. That being said I would hardly call it liability, more like wasted effort in that particular case.
EDIT:
Also, I'm also aware of how much the Vicki's hurt. That is why I like dropping Darkest Night on a group of them, takes a little out of their bite and also makes it harder for them to hit me since I'm hanging around 47.5% defense to all positions.
I'm not going to argue about it anymore, if i was ever really arguing about it to begin with. I agree that the scrapper version of SD has more advantages than the brute version. But different players might have different goals. For the most part the extra survivability of the brute (along with soul mastery) is wasted, but in some situations having the increased survivability is nice. It's up for the player to decide if the better damage is worth the trade, and I can see how a min/maxer would choose the scrapper every time. -
Quote:This is the funniest thing I read all day, and also the worst logic ever.Believe it or not, short of possessing insane resists, having higher HP can become a liability in incarnate trials than not. If both targets get hit by an attack that would one shot either, the lower HP character has a much easier time getting back to full HP to immediately negate the next hit.
2000 HP character gets hit by 1200 damage = 800 HP
1800 HP character gets hit by 1200 damage = 600 HP
If both get healed for the same amount, say 600 HP, then the bigger HP character would still have more health than the smaller one. Having max HP is in no way a liability. Just because it may take more healing to get to max HP on the higher HP character does not mean than it is less likely to survive the next hit.
The reason that it's so funny is because it actually takes the same amount of healing to restore full HP either way.
If either character gets hit with the same amount of damage, they would both still need the same amount healed back.
If both characters were to get one shot, even if they both only got healed back up to 1800 HP, they would still both have 1800 HP. There is no liability here at all. -
That is a really, really nice build. Defense cap, great attack chain, good end recovery, and even musculature alpha instead of spiritual. I'm going to keep that one around in case I ever roll another DB.

Quote:I find the Brute Patron & Epics to be overall better choices, in particular Darkest Night makes for a pretty amazing choice coupled with all of the great things about the DM/SD combo.
The Brute will also have a rough extra 200HP or so and can get around 2800 or so with OWTS if they slot for it.
You will regen more HP/S due to higher HP, and you will heal more with each cast of Siphon Life, and Rebirth will provide a higher benefit.
You will lose out on the absolute top end DPS DM/SD is capable of, but you will still do very good to excellent DPS and you will be harder to kill.
Like intended, brutes are a little more survivable while doing a little less damage. I too find brute patron pools a little better than what scrappers have, especially mu and soul mastery for their various purposes. Gloom is an awesome single target attack and fills in a brute attack chain, and darkest night is a quick shortcut to incarnate softcap and the -damage is useful in almost any situation.
Some people will argue that the extra survivability is useless, and this may be true part of the time. There have been times, however, when I was glad for the extra HP provided by the brute. I have two shield toons, one scrapper and one brute, and I enjoy them both very much for different reasons. -
I didn't even see the costume. I just saw that freaking awesome uppercut that I want.

Quote:I was thinking the same thing. It seems like the entire combo system for street justice is vastly superior to the DB combo system. Whether or not the attacks are as effective, or more effective, has yet to be seen.Except:
~ You can choose the order of your combo building powers, and drop bad ones once you get enough recharge.
~ One miss doesn't screw up your combo.
~ You can mix and match combo builders with finishers, hitting the AoE finisher for minions or single target finishers for DPS.
Dual Blades doesn't allow for any of that.
Are the combo points on the player character to avoid one of the big design flaws WoW made with rogues? Or are they on the target?
As for the combo points, I'm going to guess they are on the player. Which indeed will be way better than WoWs rogue combo system. -
Street Justice/Energy Aura scrapper will be the first thing I roll out I21, no questions asked.
Beam Rifle/Traps corruptor or Traps/Beam Rifle Defender at some point. -
This set should come out today because I want to play it now.

I've been using the thing for nearly two years, and I still have problems hitting the 10-12 buttons sometimes. I actually bind powers to E and Q as well, so along with shift and/or alt key combos I have 22 or 33 keybinds (9 mouse buttons + 2 keyboard buttons, x2 for shift OR alt and x3 with shift AND alt. I only use 22, generally I don't have more than 22 powers I use regularly anyway.

I've had two nagas. The first one stopped working about five or six months after I got it. I shipped it back to razer and had the replacement within a week.
I love the thing to death, for all of my games. I don't think I could game again without it. -
One of things I love most about the show is the casting. A lot of the characters are really close to how I imagined them while reading the novels. As others have said, the child actors have done a brilliant job as well.

Ahhh, I see. Yes, that makes more sense now. I would enjoy a new type of power as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if Street Justice got a FU or BU clone.
Sorry for being confused -
Quote:Isn't that technically true of all +damage boosts? Brutes just get less benefit from +damage than scrappers.Would you be able to elaborate?
I would really love it if this set didn't have yet another +damage boost that effectively makes the Brute version look pointless compared to the Scrapper version.
Aside from Concentrated Strike criticals refreshing Power Siphon in Kinetic Melee for scrappers, I don't think there's any difference between the way the in set damage boosts work between scrappers and brutes. -
Quote:I don't think he was saying his guy is better than any other persons, just that some power sets perform better than others. I tend to agree to a certain extent; but everyone has different standards and expectations.Wow. I don't know if you're trying to declare to the forums that you have a ridiculous sense of how much better your characters are compared to theirs, but...Wow.
Anyway!
Here's what you do.
Roll up a Fire/Kin Corrupter.
Min/max the crap out of it.
Call me again when I21 comes out with all its shiny new powers and content.
He said he didn't like certain power sets/ATs compared to his dom because they didn't perform as well. I was ironically playing my plant/fire dom the other day, and felt the same way about him. I have scrappers/brutes/veats that kill stuff much faster and are also much more survivable than the plant dom, so why even play the dom? Yeah the dom has control, but when one of my other toons can wipe an entire spawn by pressing two or three buttons while being nearly invincible, who needs them?
The answer lies is just finding a power combination and playstyle you like. Having a back story and a costume you really like helps out too. Sometimes I will design a costume I really like, and build the characters AT and powers based off of the costume.
Some power sets shine more solo, some shine more on teams. Some in big groups of minor enemies, some with just one difficult target. Every AT and power set has its niche, and some sets overlap into others territories. For me, I just come up with a character I like and go with it. I'll play around in Mids and see what I come up with, and if I don't like the guy in Mids or how it plays in the actual game, then I'll just move on to a new character. It isn't really complicated.
There could also be that you're just burned out and need to take a break from the game, I normally play a few months here and there in order to avoid that dilemma. -

Quote:This is the perfect summary.Electric/SD gets to pull off its big attack (Lightning Rod + Shield Charge) every 25-30 seconds with top-end builds. It is great for burst damage and works well for a play style that involves moving between spawns. The powers get to recharge as you move. However, long-duration pulls of more than 16 enemies (like in ambush farming maps) tends to make Elec/SD's main weakness stand out. It lacks sustainable damage.
If you are the type of person who likes to fire a big cannon every 30 seconds, Elec/SD is for you. If you prefer napalm that burns anything it touches, Fire/SD is for you. If you prefer focusing on one target with a laser, DM/SD fits that style.
I can barely stand to play my Elec/SD scrapper these days due to the terrible single target DPS. After the initial mini nuke barrage, you're pretty much stuck doing crappy single target damage and mediocre AoE damage until they are back up.
DM is survivable as all hell, and does excellent single target damage. When it comes to AoEs, DM is terrible and you need fuel to feed your soul drain. Fireball from the epic pools does help a lot with the low AoE.
I don't have a Fire/SD, but it seems like it would be an all around great choice for superb single target damage and good AoE.
I actually have an SS/SD brute, and really he is my favorite all around /SD character. Good single target damage with gloom, decent, sustainable AoE with Footstomp and Dark Obliteration. Darkest Night is great for incarnate content as it helps me close the gap between my 48% defense and the 59% required to be incarnate soft capped. The fact that it helps my teammates survive better is icing on the cake. Brutes also have higher HP, which is nice when something manages to land a hit. I originally took aid self, but found myself not using it often, so I dropped it and started packing greens instead.
The draw backs are obviously the rage crash, and the endurance trouble you get into with rage and hasten and spamming AoEs. I pretty much had to take the ageless destiny to avoid endurance issues. Brutes benefit less from AAO and shield charge compared to scrappers, but I really enjoy the all around-ness offered by super strength. Everyone wants different things out of their toons, and you have a wide range of options with what works well with /SD.
I may someday make a Fire/SD scrapper. It seems that it could quite possibly the most damaging it terms of /SD. It would have less health and would lack the darkest night in soul mastery i love so much, but the damage would be impressive and not dealing with the rage crash is nice. -
Unfortunately, Warshades ended up not agreeing with me. However, Dechs guide is pure gold if you decide to go that route.

As for secondary, I don't see many problems with any of them; KM doesn't have to worry about redraw. I've read great things about KM/Fire. -
Quote:I'm pretty sure reactive is resistance debuff, not to-hit debuff.
And take reactive T4 75% dam/25% tohit debuff, Ageless destiny t4 the left side with end recovery, and i took pyronic judgement but thats up to you.
Regardless, I went the exact same route with my incarnate slots on my /FA brute. Reactive focusing on the right side for the 75% damage proc, ageless left side for end recovery, and pyronic judgement. -
Quote:He did not post it to be nasty. He was just letting you know proper forum etiquette; which is other people tend to help people with their builds when the person who needs help already created a sample build highlighting what they want out of their character. Your post comes off far more rude and nasty. What's wrong? If I do not have deep knowledge in setting up build, ask for suggestions for the people here who knows how?
Do not know? Do not want to help? DO NOT POST, so post it? To be nasty? Floda? There's nothing useful in your post!
