  1. Honestly I've secretly wished for something like this when playing at 4 in the morning and there's literally nobody around that wants to team, and if they want to team they don't want to do what you're doing.

The problem with henchman as they worked in Guild Wars has been mentioned here. Guild wars henchman didn't have an issue keeping up because there were no travel powers and such, and they also didn't have a tether limit where they'd suddenly lose you while you're still in sight and flail like a schoolgirl with a roach up her skirt.

That said.... nope wait I have one more thing to add.
Guild wars was most certainly not about the leveling. I haven't played it since the second (and subsequent) expansions came out but when I played the level cap was 20, and it was -extremely- easy to get to. Most people could get from 1-20 in a day without breaking a sweat. City of heroes? Not so much.... Being able to have a full team of 7 heroes with you would likely be incredibly overpowered in your favor, and I could never honestly see them taking this idea seriously. On the flip side if you make the henchman too weak, you'll just be soundly crushed by your new-found 8 man team spawned enemy groups.

Whichever way you slice it, a guild-wars-esque henchman idea would be incredibly difficult to pull off well without enabling people to just let their henchman teams steamroll everything while they sit back and enjoy the free levels. If it could be implemented right, I would adore it more than anything you would believe for those lonely team-less nights, but I won't be expecting it at all. The most I could see them doing is adding more pet powers as other people have suggested, and you can just turn your difficulty up to match it, but that would still seem like self-power leveling to me.

My example was the Tommy Gun. So with what I'm thinking, let's say a badger gets darn near every badge on thier L50. Thier L1 Blaster can start with a Tommy Gun. The Vanguard Rifle, though, I could see as "not quite unlocked, but reserved" on that L1 blaster. With Vanguard being a L35+ outfit, that Blaster would get it as soon as they hit L35, instead of hitting L35 AND THEN getting it unlocked normally.
    Yes please.

On a more serious note, I like this idea.

On a completely unrelated note about leveling pacts... do you actually lose out on EXP for yourself if you are in a leveling pact and solo while the other is offline? I always see "EXP is to be divided by leveling pact" but someone said something about it being doubled....then divided... or somesuch.... does this mean you get the same amount of exp even when your partner is offline as if you weren't in a pact at all? I was under the impression you get less EXP unless both parties are there as a price for convenience.

Interesting concept but I can see it getting extremely cluttered if someone has more than 10 characters on a server.

The point is, it'd be *nice* to get hundreds of variety of canine shaped craniums, but honestly we don't *need* that many. If anything, what we *need* is to be able to wear hats and hoods with those heads.

Bovine (bovinae) is a subfamily that includes everything from antelope to yaks who have varying shaped ears set differently on their different shaped heads. AFAIC, we don't need a slew of slightly different ears, just one.

And for horse ears, with the right shaped head, are the small cat ears we currently have.
My mistake on the bovine then, I was mainly aiming at cow/bull ears since we already have the horns to make that happen. A bull head to go with that would be perfectly awesome.

I'm biased in wanting a fox head because I have a fox character, you got me However, I'd still want the more popular types... wolf head (dog head can go as that would most likely look silly), fox, lion. Some of the more prominent animals in our modern day media. And yes... I had completely not thought of that, hats and hoods would be endlessly awesome.

-Do we really need otters? I think otters are cute and all but we don't even have water powersets to go with their theme >_>

    Ears:
    -Same fox/wolf/dog comment.
-Horse and bovine ears? How bout one or the other?

Body/arms: you could pay more attention here, especially to some basic fur patterns or styles to imitate a wider variety of animals with fewer actual models.

    Tails:
-We have a rabbit tail although it's more of a powder puff than a tail...I'd actually consider a deer tail which could look similar to a rabbit tail if colored right and still be usable for other animals like goats and stuff.
-Just color a cat tail brown or something for a monkey tail.
-Instead of a cheetah tail, I'd opt for a leopard tail. Again, if you can just apply spots as a fur pattern to the cat tail, you've got a cheetah. A leopard has a thicker tail that looks kinda fatter on the end (at least I think it does...I haven't seen a leopard in person)

Legs: You could pay more attention here as the legs are a pretty big issue (they don't look that great in-game and could use a reworking).
I was mostly just throwing animals out there for the otter thing...mainly because I just love otters to death and want one as a pet o_o;. As far as the heads go... domesticated dogs, wolves, and fox heads look absolutely nothing alike. Google it right now, you should know this well enough with a furry in your sig :P

I'm holding fast on my shark head damnit! Mako has fish-like parts doesn't he? And coralax?

The ears we have right now just don't have varation in shape and type in my opinion

Horse ears and bovine ears share absolutely nothing in common, but I'd want bovine before horse.

The cheetah tail I'm not budging on though... we have cheetah skin layers, but no cheetah tail (at least give us a cheetah tail color to use with the cat tail)

I'm blanking on the legs really... main thing is I'd want more animal options for human legs. Paws for boot options, the talons etc and so forth.
  9. As far as that working in City of Heroes.... could it work? I have no idea to be honest with you.

Generally I'm against things like that because it attracts people that have the mentality of "I want it, and I want it now for nothing". I like the community here, and the number of trolls is deliciously low outside of Pocket D where there's the occasional moron. But what can I say to oppose it in an unbiased way? Nada, aside from the obvious amount of work it would take and the humorous bugs that would arise from it but that's rarely a valid reason to oppose content being added.

I suppose the questions I have is.... where are all these incredibly strong super heroes/villains coming from, and why are they all colliding in this zone in Praetoria? Is there a red flag and a blue flag and the object is to steal the others flag because... "Because... it's the flag man.... it's the flag" (points if anyone gets that reference without having to google it). What would be the logical reason to explain it?

On the idea itself.... I'm actually completely against the IO thing. I think if this idea were implemented with the insta-50s they should get their pick from level 53 dual origin enhancements, and a way to upgrade to single origin through PVP rewards somehow. That way, the people who actually WORKED for their PVP "Godlyness" or whatever you feel like calling it could come in and have an upper hand against these guys who clicked a bunch of buttons and got a free level 50 to play with. Unless of course it's separated like a kiddy pool, then none of this last pargraph matters aside from still not wanting people to instantly have the best things in the game for no work at all but I see no point in separating it with the already limited PVP playerbase.

That'd work. Would still be nice to throw in a few different things unless you just rename the set "Grenade Arsenal"

Anybody remember those books called "Animorphs"? I'm pretty sure they made a terrible TV show out of it as well.

Anyway, we need animal variety, so people aren't forced to either roll a catgirl, a lizard, or what looks like a bat with down syndrome.

There should be more love for Monstr- in fact, just rename Monstrous to Animal.

    To start...
    Heads:
Fox, Cheetah, Lion, tiger, bear (Lions and tigers and bears....oh my!) Shark (yes, shark. Come on, you know you want it), Hawk/Eagle(either or), dog, wolf, otter, horse, pig, rabbit, gorilla, snake (normal/cobra), bull. I think you get the idea. Animals! Animals that don't mouth breath 24/7 because their mouths are forever upturned in this sad look of disgust.

    Ears:
Lion ears, otter ears, wolf ears, gills (yes, gills), horse ears, dog ears, fox ears, bovine ears.

    Body/arms:
Full fur (Short/medium/long) without having to use monstrous, paws (with/without claws), wing-hands/arms, fish scales, large disproportionate hands.

    Tails:
Cheetah, shark, rabbit (We already have ears, might as well complete the playboy bunnies, and didn't someone suggest floppy rabbit ears?), monkey

    Legs:
Full fur without having to use monstrous, fish scales, paw feet (large and small, with/without claws. ), Bird talons (large and small ,with/without feathers), monkey feet (small/large)

    Costume change emotes:
Morph: Character image blurs, accompanied by the sound of bones cracking and the blur blob shifts its way to the selected costume.
Body Cocoon: Character's body splits down the middle and flies apart in the blink of an eye, meanwhile the selected costume bursts into view instantly with the same body animation that activating instant healing (and a number of other powers) uses.

And there you have it. Needs a new name obviously.... Beastly pack? Primal Instinct pack? Rikti monkeys infected with a modified rage virus have invaded paragon ad the rogue isles biting people and turning them into various half animal creatures pack? I don't know.

Primal Instinct pack sounds nifty so I'll go with that.

I'd be perfectly content if it were free as well but...not holding my breath on that one.

That said, the big thing is is in that suggestion you're forgetting the 'low hanging fruit' thing I was talking about.

It would require whole new assets, et cetera.

As for your comment on there not being enough attacks that deal damage, there are just as many attacks that deal damage in the Munitions Control set than there are in the Earth Control set, and more than in the Electricity/Gravity/Ice/Mind/Plant set.

As for the damage itself... Plant/Mind/Ice/Fire/Electricity don't go above Moderate, only Gravity and Earth do. I'll likely replace Concussive Web Grenade with Leg Shot or something and make it deal Moderate Lethal damage or something to that effect.

I could replace Beanbag with Taser, I suppose. But mainly, look through what we already have and see if you can either suggest something from there, or a slightly modified version of suck.
As it stands I'd never personally even think of playing this set. The difference with those sets not having damage is that they have equal control effects to back it up... I'm seeing a lack of both here.

I can't really suggest anything else that's already in place that wouldn't feel silly. The whole thing feels forced imo.

Add a little more damage or control to your existing powers and maybe rethink the final pet (Assuming the previous assumption that they cannot move and would be weaker is true) is all I can say then. Just the personal opinion of a nobody

Firing every grenade out of the same gun and tossing each grenade would give the same amount of repetitiveness. Less grenades methinks.

Sleep grenade.... axe it into "Sleep spray". Take out <insert appropriate looking object here> and spray a sleep inducing agent in a large cone in front of you.

Beanbag.... axe it into "Stun bomb" Player removes a circular bomb from a pouch at his side, activates it, and rolls it at a targetted enemy. The bomb explodes sending rubber projectiles in a 360 degree radius of x feet, dealing moderate damage and possibly disorienting affected enemies.

    -Rachel-
I agree on the repetitive animation bit, that would get seriously old very fast with the insane amount of grenades.

Other than the powerset looking utterly boring to me (I do like the glue grenade though... Equalizers have a special place in hell), I'm seeing very very very little damage in this set. I see nothing above moderate damage, and even then I'm only seeing two powers. That would be fine, except there's not even any compensation towards the controlling aspect of the set.

Instead of a sleep grenade, perhaps something like... just your average grenade.. or an incendiary grenade that explodes on the target and lays down four separate "burn" patches at that targets feet.

The final choice.... do auto turrets move? I've never really noticed. If not, it's a terrible choice for a controller pet in my opinion if it's on the same recharge as other controller pets, and probably weaker at that.

I'm on the fence with this set really... add a bit more damage to account for the sheer power of explosive grenades (My excuse for beefing it up a bit) and it might be worthwhile, otherwise it seems at first glance very underpowered and outperformed control-wise by all the other sets.

    Just my two cents.
