Outside of the obvious bugs, which have been acknowledged as bugs and fixed, my top soloer has never been unable to complete a standard mission solo.
No one mentioned +8 liuetenants. The argument has been mostly about EBs and how some can be rather tough for some people. Ergo, it merely seems like you're trying to save face by changing details.

    Read it again.

You called something being hard while soloing a bug. That's a silly extreme.

I recommend reading some of Tenzhi's posts earlier in the thread.

    There's also your own post.

If part of the complaints have already gone to that silly extreme, I'm not the one who took the trip.
  5. MMOs are always team games. That's why they're MMOs. The second M is Multiplayer. There has been stuff in this game that I have simply been unable to solo no matter how many purples and reds I've gobbled. If you want to solo all content exclusively, you're frankly playing the wrong sort of game.
  6. What would you prefer? "Socially challenged?"

Any linguist will tell you that "look" is a word people use when they are talking down to you. It's what parents say to children, what people who feel innately superior to others say to their "inferiors." Take a listen to any politician being interviewed and you'll hear this word a lot. Then pay attention to what people who have respect for others say. The word they use is "see." "Look" is a command while "see" is an invitation. Using "look" sets a certain tone of superiority.

"Not to put two and two together." Condescension, plain and simple.

You wonder why people took umbrage? That's why.

Is it an over-the-top flame? Of course not, but the sense of superiority is still there nonetheless. Just because it has the polite-sounding words doesn't make it a polite post, and many people saw right through it.
Nothing you highlighted was what you said it was. I frankly think you're being oversensitive.

I mean, for one thing, it brings the question: "Why not just kill the player if you really have that much power over them?" and it also becomes another thing that kind of shoehorns the player characters as just observers who can never hope to stand out from the canon NPCs.
    Simple: She doesn't want to.

He wasn't belittling anything. His post is very civil. Some stuff is just simply too hard for some people. This is true in quite a few games. He's just saying people shouldn't get all angsty over difficult content and should consider swallowing their pride once and a while.
  10. Some people just need to lrn2rd, as there's enough references in the Praetorian lore that implies that Praetoria isn't the Last City on Earth.
  11. There's nothing wrong with teaming for hard stuff. I find that it helps with my otherwise lackluster social skills and I meet new and interesting people.
  12. This film looks promising.

My response in these situations, at least from my perspective, was quite reasonable: I acknowledged that some foes or missions are too difficult to solo, so I asked for help. Apparently what I was supposed to do was come to the forums and complain about how the entire game isn't easy for all my characters... or something?

Look, I know people like to be able to accomplish things on their own, but let's think about this realistically for a moment. Some enemies are, by design, so hard that you can't take them down by yourself, and no matter what server you play on, there are always hundreds of other players online who can help you...

I mean, not to put two and two together or anything, but doesn't it seem a bit unreasonable to refuse to ask for help?

Yeah, Trapdoor's kinda rough. As is fighting Holtz and the Honoree at once with all those Rikti coming out of the portals. And the Minotaur at the end, what with that Endurance debuff it has. So if you can't do it alone, is it really something the devs have done wrong and they are for some reason at fault for making a terrible game? Be honest, now: is it?

Where does this idea come from, that every mission must be soloable with all characters? To me, that's the unreasonable part in all of this. There's no sense in spurning all the other players in the game with you when you find yourself up against something that you can't overcome all alone. Doing that in real life is a major disservice to oneself; I don't see why it should be expected to be any different in this game.

It's okay to ask for help, it really is. The game was designed with the specific purpose of allowing players to work together, so I would hope that we as players can recognize that as a core feature of the game and make use of it when appropriate. I really don't think we're entitled to talk down to the devs just because they do something differently than we would have.
    *Clap.*
  14. I liked the Shadow Over Innsmouth reference in Diviner Maros' story arc.

I've helped people who couldn't solo it, and all I realized was that they could have, but they were using the "step up, face to face and hit buttons" approach, without thinking to use accolades (eye of the magus is handy) and/or inspirations.
Well, to be fair, not everyone has the accolades.

  18. I'm rather partial to the Circle of Thorns. Their spectrals can be a bit problematic though.

Everyone was wooden in those movies, and it isn't their fault, it's Lucas'. He's a terrible director. Harrison Ford explained Lucas' directing method as stopping the cast and saying: "Faster and more intense!" That kind of lackluster directing just leaves younger actors like Portman confused.

If you recall, she had a wee bit more personality in V for Vendetta.

All I wanted was to see if the old warehouses were still there for lower level toons.
Despite the new tilesets, abandoned warehouses still look quite abandoned. They have all the grime, cobwebs and ruined shelving that the originals had. The only difference is they look better as far as graphics and have those nice windows.
