I see. Somewhat misleading since the quote starts with "Other news from GenCon" implying that there's more...
[/ QUOTE ]
My apologies for the misunderstanding as that was not my intention at all. All I did was copy/paste the message from my SG's board and delete the poster's signature and name. -
[ QUOTE ]
To the OP: Would you mind at least linking to the rest of the information for all of us to see? Copying & pasting will work too...
[/ QUOTE ]
The quote in my original post is all the information I have on this so far.
Edit: I have PM'd Lord_Recluse asking for confirmation or denial of Prestige in base rent/building, but it may take a little while to get a response from him since he has a few days worth of PMs to get caught up on since he was away at GenCon. -
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe instead, you should earn prestige when you defeat villains while you are in a team with one or more other SG memberes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which would bring us back to farms again. People would just farm whatever mission of the week is easiest to gather prestige, which would probably be tacked onto our "reward" along with xp and inf with every kill.
Best thing right now, in my opinion, unless something else is added to the game to use influence on, is just make bases cost influence per month.
As to the poster that asked why I would point out an abuse of the system: because it's so obvious. I don't PL or farm, or anything of that sort, but it took me all of 3 seconds to realize that if we want our SGs to have fun bases, we should just go afk (or leave a book on the spacebar if they restrict prestige time to non-afk only) all night long. A system with such huge problems from the getgo needs to be changed. It's like the people in CoV Beta: they're testing the program and giving feedback to the devs so they can fix the biggest problems before 100,000 people buy it on launchday and make it far worse than it needed to be. -
This was posted on my SG boards this morning by someone who attended GenCon this last weekend:
[ QUOTE ]
Other news from GenCon...
SG bases will not be purchased with Influence, they'll be purchased with something called 'Prestige', and you'll earn Prestige for the SG while you are in SuperGroup Mode.
Zeb said they'd be datamining for this so that once Prestige is implemented, already active SGs will have lots of it.
So, if we want to have a rockin' SG base as soon as we can, we should all start playing our X characters in SuperGroup Mode, pretty much all the time.
So sayeth the devs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally, I think the datamining of time spent in SG mode stinks. I don't know of a single SG out there that uses SG mode over an official SG costume and think it's a bad idea. I would rather have my SG dump 100 million a month in Influence into a base than be obligated to log in my character, enter a door mission, put him in SG mode, then go to bed just so I can build 'prestige' to pay base rent. -

Or something personal against Synapse?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, being that Synapse is a Blaster with just Super Speed as a defense, Manticore just figured he was already at the debt cap, so it didn't really matter if Synapse got trashed while scouting.
You see, one thing that was omitted from the trailer was that States and Manticore were on teamspeak when he told Synapse to head in on the regular team chat. States wanted to see how Defiance worked for a blaster (which we saw the results of that test) and Manticore was just surprised that Synapse fell for it.
Very pragmatic, that Manticore. I like him. -

I want to make sure that you guys know that Ice-based powers work on the fires as well. That is why you are able to target the fires with any power.
[/ QUOTE ]
Gotta wonder if Fire controllers should have an extra influence on the fires, too. I can't see imps helping at all (quite the opposite, in fact) but being able to control fire like that should let you put it out, too. -
[ QUOTE ]
They MIGHT have gotten it confused with the name of the firstborn non-Native American child, Virginia Dare
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, being born in America automatically made her a Native American, didn't it? Her Nativeborn soil was the land of America.....
If we're going to get technical about this stuff, we might as well pull that out too. -
Along with Atlas fighting off an entire invasion alone in Independence Port, I'd like to see something about Hero1 and the team he took through the portal.
As much as I still expect to see something develop in the future of the game around that, a comic set during those fateful moments during the Rikti war when the heroes decided which team they would be on and then the actual battle in the portal room would be spectacular. -
[ QUOTE ]
I agree with the spirit of this, but it seems stupid that you cannot "make" a cape for your costume until level 20. It's not like they (unless I missed it) claim you get your costume assigned to you by the "authorities".
[/ QUOTE ]
Heroes don't wear capes until at least level 20 as a memorial to Hero1, the leader of the group that bravely entered the Rikti Portals in an attempt to stop the invasion from the other side. Neither Hero1 nor any of the others have been seen since and it is presumed they all perished on the other side.
Once the war was over (debateable if you've ever seen FF or RCS zones,) Statesman declared all heroes, including himself, would remove their capes to honor the ultimate sacrifice made by so many compatriots. The moratorium ended just before the Shadow Shard was discovered, and now, once a hero has shown a certain level of respect and historical knowledge of his forebears, he is allowed to once again don a cape.
As for the city licensing capes, that's exactly what they do. Every hero, upon entering the city, whether of Magic origin, Technology, or any other, registers himself and his known powers. Part of the agreement the hero makes is that he won't don a cape until the city planner acknowledges he is ready for it. -

"Honey, Statesman said he would have the update on the test server in a couple days and it's been 4, so since 4 means a couple i'm going to get 2 other women and all of us can be a couple....k?"
[/ QUOTE ]
Absolutley hilarious.
Until I thought of her response:
"OK, honey, then you won't mind me bringing along 2 or 3 more guys the next time you and I go out, will you?"
Still, funny though. -

Worst. Interview. Ever.
Cryptic really needs to proof read these things before letting someone post them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cryptic doesn't have editorial privleges on other people's publications.
[/ QUOTE ]
But they certainly should have proofread it before a red name posted an official link to it on their website in the Announcements Section.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure they did, but what can they do when that site's already put it up? Either link to it themselves, or wait for one of us to discover it and then link to it.
[/ QUOTE ]
The best thing would have been to not put a link up and let someone else post it who isn't affiliated with Cryptic. That way, Cryptic doesn't give it's implicit approval of the content of the article.
Posting a link to something with obvious errors in it and then saying "Enjoy" is like a newspaper publishing as a front-page headline something that is blatantly wrong because a freelance reporter sent them the headline. Sure, the initial error isn't the newspaper's fault, but it then becomes it's fault when people start asking why they didn't do a fact check before printing it.
It isn't a long interview and it should have been proofed before it was linked. At the very least, had it been me, I would have gone to my supervisor and asked him to sign-off on the link because of the glaring problems with it. -

Hmmm... Corrollax... "Corolla X"?
Maybe this is some twisted reference of bringing in vehicles and Statesman has an old and trusty Toyota Corolla in his history?

They're Transformers! The shapeshifting archetypes are Autobots and Decepticons!
Corolax transform and roll out!
ok. It's out of my system now. sorry. heheh -
I guess for a truely gimped build, it may be difficult. I can't say that for sure, though, because even a gimped build in a halfway-decent team can come through without problems. I did the trial last night with my level 24 bubble defender and the core never once dipped below 95% health. We never once needed to use the coolant belts or heal it (indeed, we didn't even have a healer in the group.)
Our team consisted of 2 blasters, a tank, a scrapper, and a defender (me.) Even though one or two of the builds in the team weren't "optimal," we cleaned house on the sky raiders.
If you're on the Freedom server, look me up- my bubbler loves to hang out at the IP trial starting spot looking for pickup teams and I would be more than happy to help you through it if you're in level range (or willing to be ex'd) to do the first trial.
Also, for difficulty purposes of the Rikti version of the trial, it's not that difficult, either. I've duoed it with 2 controllers being the only people in the core and it was cake. -
[ QUOTE ]
He was commenting that there should be a way to bypass them in the story arcs for the casual gamer that does not have time for a team.
[/ QUOTE ]
The entire point of the Praetorian Arc in the 45-50 range is the AV fights. The best way to avoid those is to just not take any missions from that contact.
The best (only) way I'm aware of to completely avoid AVs in the 40+ range is to stay on the streets. Fight the Carnies, Nemesis, Rikti, Devouring Earth, and Malta that run all over PI. If a person wants to experience content, that person has to find a way to deal with AVs in the endgame. -
Archvillains are supposed to be a team effort per the developers.
That being said, I solo'd all but 3 of the AVs in the game in the level 40+ missions. The only ones that gave me trouble were Infernal and Diabolique. I brought some friends in for the final fight with Tyrant just so they could see him, but could have solo'd him as well judging from his performance in the combat.
Most of the AVs in the Praetorian arcs were at least +3 AVs to me (I was 45, they were 48 PLUS the AV bonus of +5.)
Now I recognize that Fire Imps are getting toned down in the patch, but I've tested them out on TestServer and the improvements in accuracy and more than doubling their HPs just makes them that much better for AV fights. Now they won't die to single shots anymore.
As for defeating Bobcat, the key is to get her to use her Moment of Glory/Unstoppable (whichever one it is, I don't recall) then run. Run like a little girl until it times out. Then she's as easy as a kitten to box up and send to the Zig.
EDIT: changed title of post.
