    i like this suggestion.

They are universal and i'm not sure you could modify aggro caps to be different on a per character/AT basis without a lot of work recoding critter AI. Doing so could result in some "interesting" effects. (Past alterations to the critter AI code have occasionally been interesting.)

In any event i don't see it as solving a problem or addressing a need. It's more of "because i want this AT to be more different in a way that most people will never even notice in actual practice" change for the sake of changing something for the sake of change in my opinion. Still, it's not really me you need to convince, it's the Devs, and that requires more than saying, "well a bunch of people on the forums think this would be a good idea for some reason, but i don't actually have any sort of proof or analysis demonstrating that it would improve AT balance in way that would be noticeable in general use without causing other problems."

Not referring to your suggestion, but i just wanted to mention that i find amusing the number of posters in this thread and similar who attempt to justify lobbying for general AT changes or a lack of need for the same using things like Incarnate powers/content and other edge cases that are limited to a small number of situations or powerset combinations. Just because they spend most of their time running the Dig Dug Dominatrix Trial (The Triple D Trial) on their Carp Armor/Carp Melee Tanker does not mean that it should be the primary metric for evaluating AT balance and performance.

And the vault doesn't even have much of a menu, just one window showing everything stored in your vault.

i've called it the WTF since it was in beta too.
Moving the date up was a surprise, but it's one i think i can easily live with.
The new costume set is going to mess up my alt leveling pattern because i'm weird like that.

But the new Dark Astoria hasn't been out for more than a few months, so unless it has memory-affecting code in it i don't see why it would have any special significance when recalling story arcs you haven't played in years. Then again i haven't played more than a couple hours in the new DA since it went live, so maybe i missed the neuralyzer part of the zone.

Wait, how is pulling the AVs to the computer so that you can hit them all at once with stacked debuffs and AoEs slower? It only takes a couple seconds to pull them and it's not like you have to hold off on attacking until the AVs arrive.
Much like on the STF where we'd pull Recluse's Bridge Club all at once for the same reason. i recall at least three occasions where we'd wonder where Scirocco or Black Scorpion went and realize they were taken out by the splash damage while were focusing on some of the others.
Of course that's all well before Incarnate powers sped things up even more.

That's because most of us who play on Virtue are aware that it's the "unofficial RP server", and not in any way official, and that RP on teams is something you normally have to look for if you want it.

That's more true now than ever. The reason "we" try to "downplay" the RP is that it's not really that common unless you go looking for it. Seriously.

In a way i almost envy you. See, while i don't actively look for RP most of the time i find it entertaining when it shows up in a PuG. Yet somehow i almost never seem to run into it and yet you who apparently dislike it find it everywhere you go. i guess it's sort of like how cats are always drawn to the person who has allergies.

Unless your team does something crazy like focusing the computer first it's really not that hard.
Actually on many of the ITF teams i'm on we pull the AVs down to the computer so that the splash damage from pounding on the computer whittles them down as well. As soon as the computer explodes we switch focus to whatever AV is lower and then finish the remaining AV after.

That's not only on Freedom of course. It's still not as bad as when you couldn't throw a snowball in AP without hitting a DBZ imitator. Of course that was at its peak years before we got the snowball power, much less the facepalm emote, but it was also funny since a majority seemed to be Energy/Energy Blasters with descriptions of them being the toughest/strongest there is or some such and they'd usually spend a large chunk of the time faceplanted in actual missions...
  11. *huh* No new to the game items, but a few tempting sales. Although with what i'm expecting next Tuesday i'm not complaining.

You know, i'm really unclear how Dark Astoria even has any relevance to the discussion. In fact the more i think about the less I see the revamped Dark Astoria as being relevant one way or the other. Almost a complete non sequitur.

  14. i think it's called Wheel of Destruction? It's been a few years since the last time i ran it.
  15. i saw some poster around Manhattan with just headshots of the cast a few days before the movie came out and asked "Why is Johnny Depp pretending to be Michael Jackson?"

Then i got close enough to read the smaller text on the posters...
    "Oh."

Everyone knows that Joss Whedon loads his films with lots of cymbalism even if none of it makes any sense.

i still like that scene where Loki does a brief Bananaphone riff before the segue into riverdancing. (She's even holding the same Reaver weapons as she did in Serenity during the dance.)
  17. In my experience it means defeat everything that gets in your way or even looks at you funny, but don't bother hunting down everything on the map. So any enemies that have the good sense to not get in the way and stay out of sight are fine.

i've had this occur as well. In my case the server frequently has at least three pages of alts, which makes locating the apparently missing character even more difficult.

Wow, that was pretty horrible copy for what is supposedly a professional news site, but i suppose the writing is aimed at the level of the expected audience.

So... there's allegedly a contaminated form of LSD out there causing people to strip naked and go feral/zombie. Interesting...

    They're called mayhem missions.

Seriously, if you have several hundred players frequently passing through a zone with destructible environments the odds are that unless you have structures repairing/respawning themselves at an absurdly high rate the zone will resemble Boomtown on a nearly permanent basis. The same principle applies to any sort of environmental changes that can be caused by players.

Yeah, but they're being pretty faux-coy about it considering that this thread on the same topic was started a couple days before them in the exact same forum section and is already up to three pages of detailed discussion (by my settings) about everything (and more) that the OP somewhat vaguely hinted at.

There is no way that this can lead to a satisfactory result, unless the OP's only intent is to vent, complain, and/or whine.
Well it's true that they're going much faster now that he's been pulled over. Although it's more like he's complaining that some of the other speeders are doing it legally because they bothered to get a permit to drive in a higher speed limit lane and he wants to know why he can't do the same thing without bothering to get a permit. (Which is sort of mixing the Autobahn and US HOV lane metaphors, but i'm comfortable with that.)

Then buff would be a better word, but the very weak aggro generation of WP and SR when compared to the other Tanker primaries can make things harder for users of those sets when tanking.

The name the guy was allowed to retain is that of a well known Greek God.
In answer to the question in the title: If the name and/or appearance and/or powers are under trademark or copyright by another you can usually keep the name by getting the permission of the rightsholder(s) to use it in game. You may still have to jump through hoops periodically with an overzealous GM, but it's really as simple as that if you're imitating someone else's character.

Or you could make an original character that uses an original or public domain name and/or concept.

Or just resign yourself to occasionally being genericed if either of the previous options is not acceptable to you.
