Quote:Not just the fight scene...all the Skulls warehouse scenes are way too dark.
Also, this didn't seem like an introduction to CoH for new players as much as "look how awesome GG is, oh and there's a newbie here too".
I actually interpreted that as an illustration about how well the Ssk/exemping system worked. And let's be fair, GG is a legend -
my first was a kin/psi defender.
She didn't last long - to 20 something but by the time she was at 15 or thereabouts I'd rolled Scarlet Shocker who instantly became my main and continues to be so.
I rolled a lot of blasters subsequently, a couple of which got to 50 (one was subsequently deleted) but now I'm much happier on a controller - of whom I have maybe 4 or so at 50. -
I've been trying to use the thumbtack in zone maps as badge markers but recently they've been all over the place. I stick the tack where I want and the compass doesn't correlate to it in any way
I've not noticed this before so I'm presuming it's a bug.
Anyone ever experience it? -
Genuinely impressive. Great intro for a new player
One small criticism is that the warehouse fight scene is a bit dark... I know it's meant to be but a lot of the detail got lost.
But other than that very cool and I liked the subtle humour -
I tried t once, back in the pre invention days
It kinda worked in PvE - in PVP it never quite did enough.
It may be a cheap experiment for your 3rd build maybe. I would say if you have the inf, try it, but if you're gonna do it go for all of it. Don't just slot one end mod in every power slot everything for end mod
PS don't blame me if the toon sucks -
Alfred Hitchcock and to a lesser extent Brian de Palma
Most big budget action movies with a big name actor/actress leave you knowing the result. Lots of big bangs and the hero gets the girl and rides off into the sunset...
With comicbook movies you kind of know that it'll (mostly) turn out ok in the end because the same story's been running for forty years so it's very difficult to convey a sense of "danger" when many of us have been reading Spiderman or the X-Men all our lives.
Hitch tended to leave the real danger unseen and that made it more chilling... the unknown is often more scary than the threat we know and de Palma would left-foot you from the very start. Remember Dressed to Kill... (for reasons other than the intro)? The main protagonist & star, Angie Dickinson, is killed very quickly - surprisingly, making you sit up and say "WTH?" Sadly the rest of the film didn't live up to it and it wasn't Sir Michael Caine's finest role (that was Get Carter IMO and in that you know he's on a road to nowhere but he is truly dangerous and even after the film's ended the audience knows he's exacted his revenge.)
In many ways, violence, explosions, blood and guts, often detract from the element of danger. The Damage outweighs the drama and often does the film itself a disservice by weakening the story. -
A simian pack would be of interest to me and there is plenty of primate based comicbook lore to support it.

Quote:I thought the events only played on a schedule? Your critique has merit, but I didn't think it would be possible just to play them over and over like that. And wouldn't the lowbie only get level appropriate exp?
Sure, people would farm them, but heck we farm everything else in the game.
They do, I think but I don't think they happen simultaneously. So the gap between events is small. Just enough time to level up.
I guess I don't know how the XP division is calculated but one of the biggest problems with Praetoria already is the fact that people often get kicked before completing the whole story for being too high. Making the events give XP only exacerbates that problem.
I agree they lack... spice, but maybe it needs something like more badges or even some kind of Merit thing. -
Nice idea though sadly I suspect that's a lot of Dev time for not much benefit.
However, refreshing the existing GMs and a lick of paint might be nice.
Imagine, if you will, 3 Arachnos flyers in Atlas Park, shooting down the Blimp in flames and then depositing a whole bunch of Arachnos troops to storm City Hall...
Lusca arriving at Sharkhead Isle and attacking the Ferry there, taking it out of action until some civic-minded villains/rogues decide to encourage him to leave.
Scrapyarders invading IP via commandeering Janus' sub... Scrapyard himself may be a ghost but the Scrapyarders themselves aren't and if enough get to IP they can summon him and go on rampage.
Deathsurge in Terra Volta leeching off the reactor there... if he's there too long some random infrastructure fails, like one WW or a train line or Ferry... -
I think that whilst your idea has some merit there's a number of issues with it - namely you've just described a power leveller's paradise. A couple of incarnates hook up with some lowbies and farm the events ad infinitum.
That then becomes the the content players experience... just like in the early days of MA - and also as a side effect gives away a lot more of the lore to a new player from page one rather than letting them discover the story of Praetoria via the arcs themselves as intended. -
I don't believe it's a technical issue, it's simply that there's so much going on and so many effects the pointer gets lost. I only tend to notice it when I'm being rezzed and I'm trying to click that damned timed "Yes" button and I'm running my mouse around the mat frantically trying to see where it is!!!!!
Thankyou for this thread. It's so glad to know I'm NOT the only one! -
I've never been bothered by either ambushes or running bosses. A liberal application of slows, immobs and holds will generally get the desired result when soloing. In a team it's a non-issue - and there's always ninja/beast run now to ensure you can either keep up or get away.
The Running Boss is slightly more frustrating cuz they can get away but that generally means you just move on to the next mission more quickly. -
there's some excellent advice there but I'd also make a couple of additional suggestion if you're brand new to using Inventions:
Avoid it on your favourite character if you are experimenting for the first time. Use it on a toon you will play (so get the feel of the difference) but if you do manage to make a muck up it's not critical and doesn't mean you end up feeling like you have to "fix" your main.
Get to learn Mids Hero designer. Playing around with it costs you nothing. You can have many theoretical builds and you can then throw the build on the forums and get a critique of them.
If you're still not sure about optimum settings ask in your particular AT's forum section. There's always some very knowledgeable people there who will be happy to advise.
For what it's worth, my own experience is that if you put many purple sets in, you'll maybe do a lot of damage, be highly accurate and have a high recharge rate - probably to the cap on them all. But in doing so you'll miss out on lots of other useful secondary effects. And all of that before we start talking about Procs, so maybe one or 2 purple sets great but you probably won't need more than that. -
Quote:It would be ok if the "Exit to Character Select" option actually worked all the time. Most of the time (for my wife and I anyway) it either hangs for a very long time and/or just goes to the login screen with an "unable to connect" message.
We finally gave up and went back to using Exit to Login because it was faster to retype the password and select the server than it was to wait for the other option to finally decide it wasn't going to work.

If I'm supposed to "Accept" it... it would be very nice to be able actually read what I'm agreeing to.
With the colours on the screen and the resolution I run, it's totally unintelligible - and pretty cumbersome. It's highly likely that if I did something wrong and got spanked for it I would have a legal case for saying "I missed that bit because the agreement's not legible."
I've got very good eyesight, but if somebody who doesn't have such great sight looked at it, Paragon Studios could find themselves in some difficulty.
For the record, I've no issue with the principle of agreeing to certain Ts & Cs when carrying out a range of online activities, but I do expect to be able to read 'em when required. -
Quote:Oh YES!!
Instead we can't/don't know how/cba to take over the world!!
It's a lot of bother I know... but it's probably gonna be ok anyway! -
I like the look
I'm not certain why any of this needed a signed NDA... but then again it may have been for external reasons... I'm not gonna fret about it.
But one phrase (I've highlighted it in the quoted text I find very interesting and exciting.)
Quote:This looks like a response to many prayers on the EU servers. Here's hoping!Upgraded Looking For Group*: We've made a major upgrade in the Looking For Group function. Players can now sign up for an Incarnate Trial almost anywhere in Paragon City, the Rogue Isles, or Praetoria (the exceptions are Super Group Bases, PvP Zones, or while running instanced missions or Task Forces/Strike Forces). When enough characters for an Incarnate Trial are queued, the characters are teleported to the instance and automatically formed into a League. (This feature is currently only available for Incarnate Trials on the same server.) -
Doc Delilah!!!!!!! How could you not get this thread on topic?
Dr Doom!
Dr No

I'd laugh but it takes too much effort
Seriously, good giggle tho thanks for the tongue in cheek giggle (not mentioning who's tongue or cheeks though)

Good people
Doubtless you're aware of the new European Events Resources Committee, formed recently to provide additional event support for the EU community.
As we stand, we are all drawn from the British community, purely because of the difficulties of language. Sadly my French and German is well below a reasonable standard and I believe I am not alone in that.
We would really love to involve both Vigilance and Zukunft, and make the EERC truly European and hopefully bring all our servers closer together.
In order to do this we'd love a couple of volunteers from each server to come forward and join us but sadly we are going to have to request that you have a good command of English for obvious reasons.
Please those of you who are interested in joining us drop either myself or Avatea a PM telling us how you can help and we shall hope to invite you.
Thanks in advance
