You know that cow? The phantom one, with the accordion, the cow that constantly yodels when you're trying to have a quiet drink in the chalet or rescue Baby New Year from Snaptooth.... that's the one.
It needs putting out of its misery. Seriously! No creature should be turned out in the ice and snow in winter to howl so mournfully and play a squeezebox quite that badly.
But nodody knows where it is. It's got better stealth than the best stalker, and it seems to be culling the server population! Every year, fewer and fewer residents of the Rogue Isles and Paragon City come to the winter chalet.
You know why? They've been eaten by the spectral cow. No, spectral cows are NOT vegetarian, contrary to popular belief. If it was a NORMAL cow it wouldn't be bloody invisible now would it?
And you know whats odd? There's a couple of doors under the chalet that look like they should open, and yet "you cannot enter." I bet that's where it's hiding. The Elf isn't saying anything tho, and Old Father Time... well he doesn't get out much...
Something's amiss! Let's go hunt the winter cow and place its horns on the mante above the fire as a reminder that the heroes and villains of the isles are not to be trifled with.
(Cow trifle? That's a novel concept) -
Quote:Yeah, I am also afraid they hope Steiner's counter atta- I mean, Going Rogue, will fix it all and all will be well again and the EU servers will be populated again too because its so interesting again then...
Only that it seems to me that by then they won't have to merely wake up the EU side of the game, but to unearth, exhume and resurrect it, after first removing the crypt that was by then built on its tomb and the forest that grew over it.
Sorry, but people wont suddenly rush an old MMO game because of its exciting new content when the servers are all dead already. Need. Server list merge. Now.
Only some of us in the EU seem to recognise this. Nobody else gives a flying fart! -
I've reposted this in the Player Events section after checking with Mod08, so please head on over there and add your input guys
-
I did think about the server choices.
I like the competition idea. Could be an interesting journey. Maybe make it a general cross-server thing. I guess if we reposted in everything people can take part even if they are across the pond. -
Many of you have missed the point of the original post which is the way in which the structure of Arachnos is organised, with several distinct power groups and an all pervasive "Security" service also maintaining a significant presence at the top echelons of the group.
It just struck me that the direct similarity there was relevant. -
-
When I was reading my military history degree, the study of the Third Reich was almost mandatory for many reasons, and sadly I can't really go into them all here.
One of the most striking things for me was an organogram of the structure of Hitler's control mechanism and how the Nazis actually functioned, and I've often been struck by a few similarities between that and the way Arachnos is arranged. One of the most striking similarities is the way Lord Recluse and Hitler promote "social darwinism" - the factions below them are all vying for power between themselves - which is exemplified by the four Patrons each trying to carve their own niche and estend their power base, whilst the Arbiters seem very much to fulfil the role of Himmler's SS (although there's not an immediately recognisable doppleganger for Himmler in game that I have encountered.)
This may be coincidental, but somehow I doubt it - what do you guys think?
Editing just to say I'm not saying that the Rogue Isles exactly are like that or that LR = Hitler, but I definitely see a model here -
Happy Birthday Mereman!!!!
Have a good one buddy! -
The Trio of Doom were formed in 1979, featuring bass player Jaco Pastorius, John McLaughlin on guitar and Tony Williams as drummer. Unashamedly influenced by rock trios such as Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience they had a single album jazz fusion - it's amazingly cool and well worth checking out.
Why is that relevant? The key word here is not (for once) d00m, it's Trio. Having had a very late night (well more Early Morning) fun time duoing ITF that fell only at the last hurdle of Romulus himself I was struck by a thought:
A Trio would probably manage to do most of the challenges in CoX, if composed of the right make up. Last night was a Blaster and Ninja MM - not the most obvious choice for duoing a TF and yet for the most part we went very well. (The Robot control panel was tough tho.)
I reckon it'd be great fun to play such team - going through the content from Breakout (and/or Outbreak) and right through to 50, teaming once or twice a week. I don't mind which server, Defiant or Union, we'd start from scratch so if you're up for it - give me a shout. -
I have Scarlet Shocker on both servers I can use.

Quote:I probably need confirmation on this, but I believe that any attacks (Mako Patron Power Pool) work of your MM damage mods, which tend to be pretty low.
I think for Patron's you take your shield and any utility powers like immobilizes/holds/power boosts. I kind of think that PPP attacks are like taking your own primary attacks, a bit of a waste.
My Thugs/MM has Fitness, Leadership, 3 henchmen+2 upgrades+gangwar, and all the poison except Poison Trap. I even have his alternate build without Gang War that does quite well.
Just some thoughts.
Interesting. That's food for thought too. Thankyou -
Frostfire.
Payback time ;-) -
Removing the exclusions in the brackets we get this:
Quote:So you've got to have three residences in separate countries.(d) you must be a resident of the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Very poorly worded indeed. -
I've found it very difficult - bronze and silver are easy but the gold is a real challenge especially on the bob sleigh run, and I desire that badge dreadfully
-
Interesting build thanks. It's quite different to mine butI like how you've used teh Uniques

here's a build I've been experimenting with.

I don't have any procs or IOs as yet. I've been using purely SOs thus far.
I've not taken hasten, though I have thought of it.
I've got all the poison except for the trap and the rez. -
Quote:ok good question. I've not actually replicated my build in Mids but I have all four Leadership powers, and 3 from Fitness. What is your current build?
Where do you feel you're lacking (what gives you trouble)?
I've not taken the Rez power and currently I've got Mako's patron set (Bile Spray and Shark Skin specifically) as my epics.
Hope that answers -
Quote:And naturally the proper response, if you can't use said gift is to spit in the gifter's face and claim they have ulterior motives for giving you something.
My relationship with Paragon Studios is purely business. I love the game, but I owe them no debt of gratitude or familial kindness. If they tick me off I reserve the right to express that - and I will attempt to do so, within the rules of their own making.
I do not see this as a "gift" in the traditional sense. I actually see it as an insidious attempt to cull certain server numbers and make us smile while it happens. The net result is there will be fewer servers when Going Rogue goes live which will give an artificial sense of population. -
Quote:Not that I agree with the OP, but this is equivalent to Obama giving everyone in the world a Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen DVD for the holidays. Sure, everyone gets the same gift, but it's sort of useless to those without a DVD player.
Not to mention they'd have to be region specific DVDs, which is kind of appropriate if you think about it. -

Quote:That's wrong on so many levels. A good deed is a good deed for one or many. It's simply a non-event for others (or should be -- I can't figure out why you're getting so bent out of shape over something that you can simply not utilize).
And what "significant number of the paying customers!" are you saying this isn't a good deed for?
I'm getting "bent out of shape" as you put it because it's another example that demonstrates how little regard the NCSoft and Paragon Studios respectively hold the EU subscribers and community.
Were they to couple this offer with universal server access I'm sure it would be universally lauded on both sides of the pond and would make the community stronger as a whole.
However in failing to do that it's another case of blatant favouritism I'm sad to say.
