A lot of people bash the hell out of that book, but in it's defense, it sure as hell taught me the importance of "camera angle" and the center of gravity in figures in making sceens dynamic

Kidding aside, I love it! Definitely one of my favorites of your work. The gruesome fight scenes you do are just incredible.

I have to ask, I'm seeing a couple "faces" in weird places, are they a coincidence or planned? Example, under the right knee (our right) of the wolf, there seems to be a mask / skull with the top facing left. Also, left of the wolve's right hand on the tree trunk. Am I seeing things? o.O

Same here. Sometimes I'll draw something everyday, other times I'll stall for several weeks at a time. I love drawing and all, but man, consistency just isn't my thing. :\

I'm just kidding... kinda. I played that game for the better part of three years, almost non-stop. Maybe a total of 2-3 months during that period. I loved the game at the time, but I've moved on. I've since tried a free trial that they've given out, but just couldn't get into it. I pretty much just stood around, tried to PvP, but the magic was gone, it didn't grasp me anymore. Tis a pity, I have some incredibly awesome memories of that game...

Just out of curiousity, what server / race / class did ya play?


Anyways, we'll still be here when you get back. Heck, theres even some treats over there too. I will, of course, expect a full report of signifigant art you've done during your hiatus.

ah, don't worry about it... and I totally understand where your coming from. I do work with a very subdued palate (I have a weird kind of weakness for sepia toned photos, old and faded things, etc ). However, my palate seems to get a touch more colorful with each piece... maybe by the time I got to you I'd only have to make a moderate effort to make the colors a bit bolder then I normally would and you'd have the "in-yer-face" colors you want. Of course, I could also do the line work and Jtran or someone else could apply the emboldened color's to it... getting chocolate in your peanut-butter is not always a bad thing

Edit: and since color was brought up, it got me thinking about my work and what would happen if I just tweaked the paintings digitally to add a punch to the color. Here's the results on two of them

You know, I was actually beginning to wonder where you had disappeared! Good to hear that you're still among the living.

Gotta hand it to you, you make it tough for the commisioner to choose a pose/layout! There are aspects to both of those pictures that I just love.

The first one is a lot more dynamic, with more motion to it. I'm not sure if you've ever read "How to Draw the Marvel Way," but it vividly reminds me of the comic book page comparison section. There were two strips one with flat, head on 'camera' angles, the other was very dynamic and moving. This would definitely be in the second category!

The second one is covered with awesome postures and figures. Even in roughs... *shakes fist* Curse your mastery of anatomy! I like the back to back you have going on between DonnchadH and Flaming Mistress too, very heroic.

Last night I had a little bit of inspiration, so I whipped out my pencils and did a fairly quick sketch of Crimson Jimson. I tried to be a little more angular and sketchy (if that's possible) than usual in an effort to mirror his style a bit. I didn't have the guts to go crazy with the shading though. (I'm pretty crumby at clothes.) The pose isn't nearly as dynamic as what I was originally going for... foreshadowing is an evil, evil mistress I say!

Just thought I'd share. Oh, and if someone who has a DA account could point CJ in this direction, that'd be cool.

Indeed it was. I did it with some friends back in I6 I think (1st double xp weekend), and Statesman never showed up. I've heard many people say Statesman not spawning was a bug.

Luckily, I still can get that mission on my characters. I never persued it specifically for that reason

Performed it in the D for some friends on Triumph (Hi Dollhouse!) and was told to stop doing things like that because people were spitting softdrinks onto keyboards and such. Repeatedly.

The only thing that looks really weird to me is the leg on our right. More specifically, from the knee down. I can see the thigh is angled downward towards us, but the calf and foot don't seem to connect quite right.

I agree with ProfessorBlues, it's very thought provoking. It reminds me of one thought process that goes through my head whenever I see a huge swarm of people (highways, malls, schools, work, etc):

Every one of these people is a person, they each have their own life / friends / connections / problems / joys / etc, just like I do.

No matter how many times it passes through my mind, I can't help but be astonished at how small I really feel in this world.
