Nothing to do with heroes but sometimes you guys..
Actually that's some pretty evocative writing. Don't think I'd want to change anything.
Of course I'm a kindred soul when it comes to travel.
Funny, whenever I go on a good ride (600 miles in a day = a good ride), my thought on the way home is "I should take the day off tomorrow, do that again."
But yeah. Here's a few moments I got a kick out of, on one of my 'trips' (a 6 day ride from California to Colorado and back.)
[*] Outrunning a thunder/windstorm all the way across Utah.
[*] Realizing that the gravel all over the road isn't gravel, it's MOVING (Jerusalem cricket swarms FTL!)
[*] Playing leapfrog with two older couples on Gold Wings for a thousand miles.
[*] The feel of a water-soaked bandanna around your neck, when you're in full gear and its a hundred and five in the shade.
[*] Saying hello to the state trooper when he's on his lunch break in a diner, instead of out on the road where he's "on the clock".
[*] And finally, the sheer giddy feeling you get when you have a hundred-plus miles of road all to yourself, and a fast bike between your knees with the throttle rolled on.
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
I agree with ProfessorBlues, it's very thought provoking. It reminds me of one thought process that goes through my head whenever I see a huge swarm of people (highways, malls, schools, work, etc):
Every one of these people is a person, they each have their own life / friends / connections / problems / joys / etc, just like I do.
No matter how many times it passes through my mind, I can't help but be astonished at how small I really feel in this world.

Dont be silly, they are extras.
You are the star, the rest are just there to fill the screen

Refreshing way to think about strangers. I like

This kind of gave me an idea about how to continue with the story a bit further though I've done no more work on it yet.
I'll keep you updated as it progresses further.
cool
Help me with my writing, or atleast like to read at it.
I had to write this for an exam I did the other day where time was limited so I didn't really have time to refine it but I'm really thinking of continuing this further. There's no title yet and this is basically just an intro so far.

Driving alone down the highway gives you time to think. You think about the gravel that dances under your chassis as you race over it. You think about the dark cloud off in the distance, rumbling low and ominous and you think
"How are my wipers?".
You think about the great brown hawk gliding effortlessly from tree branch to power lines and wonder if man could make the same adjustments and survive. Not only survive but begin to thrive again, after our cell phones, computers and pre-packaged, processed, store bought food had all been lost. You think about your place in the universe and whether or not you or the things you do are really important, if they make a difference. You go on this way, thinking, wondering until you come to your on ramp. The closer you get to home and away from the open roads and the freedom, you think
"Will I make it home in time for friends?"

The writing style reminds me of Chuck Palahniuk (mostly known for fight club). And there's definatly something I'm trying to get across in it. Any thoughts on the writing?
