  1. Did I read that correctly? 10 costume slots?

    WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! <3

As mentioned, not all powersets are free. You must have bought Going Rogue to have access to Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning. When City of Villains came out, you had to have bought that to have access to any of the villain sets. There have been times in the past, therefore, that even paid subscribers have had to pay for new powersets.

Thank you so much, this makes me feel a lot better. I will let my league know that there is a fix in the pipeline.

    Thanks again! <3

I really, really hope so. This was the first run for a lot of people on my league and they are NOT gonna run the trial again for a long time.
  5. Anti Matter got stuck in the floor, so half the league petitioned it. A GM got him un stuck with 9 mins left and those of us who stuck around (17 out of 24) tried to give it a go. And then AM got stuck again.

Please know that I am a strong proponent of this game, and I give the rednames a lot of slack.

But this is UNACCEPTABLE. You should not have let this go live with this bug. This ENDS these trials, it is totally broken, and you KNEW it before beta went live.

Do what ever it takes to get this fixed, and DO NOT let this kind of asinine behavior show its ugly face in i21, or you WILL NOT attract new players, I promise.

I love this game. It is one of my favorite things ever. But this kind of neglect is seriously unacceptable. It's like letting cars go out the production door without working breaks. (Okay not THAT bad, but as close as you get in MMOs.)

Fix it, or pull the keyes trial from live til it's fixed. This is the opposite of fun.

Regardless of the arguments that can be made against the rest of the post, I would like to at least point out: Not everyone who is willing to pay money for stuff is lazy. There are some people, myself included, who do not get to spend NEARLY as much time in-game as they would like to. And I'm still opposed to selling purples in the Paragon Store. Though if the Devs go that route.. well it's their decision.

And, just to say? Travel powers at level 6 should not be made available in the store. I firmly believe that needs to be a QOL change for the game come i21. Its been a big improvement in my characters since I got that VR, but like Fitness I think it needs to be revisited for the player as a whole.
I agree, travel powers in general should be looked at. Just like fitness, they're already required for nearly every toon. I have a couple of toons who don't take travel pools, just like I had a couple toons who didnt take Fitness. But that's a couple out of 70-100 toons. But with all of the booster travel powers, this is becoming less of an issue.
  7. First, thanks so much to the peeps transcribing from FB. Really, I owe you one.

Really! YAAAAAAYYY!! <3 I mean this makes total sense if it follows like booster packs, but YAAAAAAY anyway!

I understand this view and largely agree. I extended this attitude towards farms as well - why should I care how others enjoy the game? However there are several counter arguments to this that I was finally forced to acknowledge:

    1. The Devs have decided that game balance is important. It doesn't matter if the players think it is unimportant or even unfair, it is what it is. The Devs actively avoid doing things that will significantly unbalance the game.

    2. The way others have fun in the game does directly impact how everyone has fun in the game:
    A. Farmers affect the economy by flooding the market (not saying it's bad, but it's an effect)
    B. We already see calls for "No S/L damage" and "Must be at least +1" for iTrials and TFs. It's not hard to imagine calls for "Purpled toons only" as well. Granted these people are doing us a favor by announcing what terrible teammates they are, and we know to avoid them, but it is still an effect.

    3. The stronger toons are, the faster they get through content.'more very strong toons means more people running out of content faster. This in turn means either the Devs have to churn out more content to keep these people interested, or run the risk of losing players to boredom. An upper limit on the average strength of the majority of the playerbase ensures the survivability of content. That's why purples are very rare, and hard to get. Cash-buyable purples would throw that mechanic entirely out the window, unless they charged HUGE amounts of money. At which point players would rightly complain that only the IRL rich get the best goodies.

It's messy no matter how you look at it. I don't gamble, but I think it's a safe bet that purples won't be in the Paragon Market.
  9. I think the point about selling things for cash is more about balance-breaking stuff like recipes and IOs. Paragon is going to do whatever they feel is best anyway, but I highly doubt they'll offer anything from the invention system in the Paragon Market. Or at least, let's say I would be really surprised. That seems like it could become a balance issue, and we all know how important balance is.

Yes, there are a lot of people who have many or most of their toons completely IOed out, and maybe have several purpled toons. But there are also a lot of people who don't have that much time to invest in the game, and so rely heavily on generic IOs or even SOs. It comes down to the percentage of the population that is IOed/Purpled out vs otherwise, and how the challenges in the game may or may not need to be ramped up in order to provide a greater challenge. Which, given precedent, Paragon is reluctant to revamp and rebalance content around IO sets.

So I doubt there will be purples available in the Paragon market. Just my two cents.

I see a couple of possibilities:

    1. Pure reading comprehension fail
This can spring from any number of factors, including
    -Brain not fully awake yet
-Read too quickly due to anxiety and/or impatience
-Poor reading comprehension skills (hey, it happens.)

    2. Absolute pessimistic view of the universe and a self-delusion that everyone is out to rip you off

    3. Failure to read the post at all, and replying only to rumors and player assumptions

    4. Trolling

Probably a mixture of the four, all considered. I was personally bewildered, but I know Paragon Studios has a long history of doing things that I LIKE, so I reserved judgement until I read more. The more I read, the more convinced I was that these changes were, at the very least, not going to be A Bad Thing, and were actually probably going to turn out to be pretty cool.

At first I questioned whether they meant all of the costume pieces or perhaps a sub-set, but I very quickly realized that it is very clearly all of the costume pieces. Why? Because this is what he said:

Complete Magic Costume Set (from the Magic Pack)

This is what he DID NOT say:

Magic Baron Costume Set (from the Magic Pack)
Magic Witch Costume Set (from the Magic Pack)
Magic Bolero and High Collar (from the Magic Pack)

You see, the sub-sets within the Magic Costume Set have specific names: Baron, Witch, High Collar, Magic Bolero. If that's what he meant, that's what he would have said.

While we haven't had redname clarification, I'm confident that ALL of the costume pieces from the Magic Pack will be available for 400pp. As mentioned earlier in this thread, the temp power from booster packs will probably also be 400pp, leaving the costume change emotes to make up another 200-400pp.

And who knows, maybe there will be "all costume pieces, plus temp power, plus costume change emotes" bundle for roughly $10.

While I don't blame you for skipping a couple thousand posts, you might want to go back and skim the redname replies, or look through the Dev digest. New characters will still have access to the Vet Rewards we have now - and in fact may be able to unlock them sooner (since unlocks will be based on Reward Tokens, or what have you, instead of months played). There are also statements to the effect of "the veteran reward system will be better, and the rewards themselves will be better".

Once you have all of the information that has so far been disseminated, I am sure you will find no reason to worry.

I'm not sure if the old tutorials will be available in Ouro, but it was mentioned that you will ABSOLUTELY be able to get Jail Bird and Isolator in some way. And they said that old Galaxy City will be available in some way too (Ouro?), and Posi said they've learned their lesson and will NOT take away content permanently.

    * Added extra hats

"Extra hats"? It looks like all the usual hats (including the one female Steampunk item) but I could be confusioning myself with this one. Has anyone seen any additional female (apparently Steampunk) hats?
If I understand correctly (and I may not), the costume creator doesn't have flags like what you're talking about. New costume pieces must be added by hand to every menu and sub-menu, which is why most of the menus are in different orders, and why some things exist in one menu but not another (even though there's no clipping involved and the item should be there.) The costume creator is A MESS and I would gladly volunteer my personal free time to clean it up and reorganize it, if I had the software/programming skills to do so. Every time they add new costume pieces it gets worse and worse.

So for shoulders, if I want the villain pieces do I just hit the back arrow? I can't remember because I think belts are in reverse order from shoulders, with villain stuff first and then hero stuff later. Or maybe it's the other way around. As much time as I spend in the costume creator (and it's A LOT of time), I still have a hard time remembering which menus are in which order, and where to find stuff. Some menus have the witch costume pieces at the end, while in others they're towards the beginning. Steampunk stuff is all over the place. It's obnoxious. I know it's a beast to clean up but if we don't have time NOW, when will we have time? After another thousand costume bits have been added to the game?

    Sigh.

Oh and the hats, yes I'd like to know this too please! I've not searched for them yet.. are there maybe multiple options under the existing hat? Are there supposed to be more hats in the upper level hat menu?

edit: I think belts go hero first then villain, and shoulders go villain then hero. Because that makes total sense!

I don't know that Freem is really a big joke in America either. Its spot in City is from the April Fool's joke in 2008 that we were getting visual sound effects (such as POW! and WHAM! and FREEM!) It also appears during the first mission of Mender Ramiel's arc, when you are granted "Limitless Radial Freeeem"

However I adamantly vote NO NO AND NO to naming the VIP server Freem. Not that I think there's actually any danger of that.

Many people in the Repeat Offenders use Freem as an abbreviation for Freedom. we call for ITFs on Freem, etc. Having an actual server called Freem would throw that all outta whack.
  18. While I certainly understand why people are concerned, let's keep sight of the big picture. We don't yet have all the details, Freedom is months away, and the Devs have a history of trying to cater to the player base. We may be pleasantly surprised, or we may be disappointed.. but there's no point in letting negative emotions impact us before we actually have answers.

I'm neither an optimist nor a pessimist; I prepare for multiple scenarios and then wait to see how things shake out. I'm hopeful that my current subscription (with 400pp per month) and possibly the same additional $20-30 I've been spending per year on boosters will still be enough to buy/unlock all of the new goodies. If not, I will reassess at that time. Who knows, I may end up spending less per year. I am prepared for any of these scenarios, and I'm not going to get upset about bad things that haven't happened yet.

As an aside, I honestly don't see the Devs implementing a way to earn pp via in-game content. That would completely undermine what they're trying to do here, namely, get people to spend money on the game ... either by upgrading to a VIP account or by buying the little goodies in the Paragon Store. If people on free accounts could earn points towards these goals, they would have no reason to upgrade (assuming patience). I realize that some people would, once they had a little taste, probably want to buy more.. but some wouldn't. And they'd be getting goodies for free that everyone else is paying for (in one way or another). In short, I would be VERY surprised if there were a consistent way to earn PPs within the game at all, and especially on a free account. (Though PPs may be handed out from time to time in special events, who knows.)
  19. I'd like to throw in my two cents on rewarding VIPs for playing with Freeps and Preems: I actually think this sends the wrong message. "You have cooties so bad that we have to bribe our VIPs to play with you." The very thing that is most likely to get Freeps to want to become Preems or VIPs is how awesome and helpful and friendly and knowledgeable our community is. I'd like to think there are plenty of veteran players who are happy to team with (and tutor) Freeps without a bribe, and I think that sends a better message.

I see your point, and you may indeed be correct. And of course I will also be happy to spend money on more content assuming it means we get MORE new content. Which seems to be the promise: that this new model will allow them to release more stuff per year than we've seen in the past.

Not that I'll actually get to play it all. I don't think I've yet gone all the way through the "new" level 20-25 and 25-30 arcs. But that's okay, I like knowing it's there when I want to use it. :]

I think that's a great idea. They already have an FAQ for Freedom and i21, it would make sense to add all of the answers they've already given to that page. Then there would be one centralized resource to answer all the questions that people may have, if they're just now finding out about this. It also means people wouldn't have to wade through multiple threads, and read answers to the same questions over and over in the Dev/Community digests.

    +1!

That's true if you count City of Villains and Going Rogue. So that's two expansions in seven years, not a huge outlay of money. So yes, I do concede that it's possible that VIPs will have to spend cash above and beyond their subscription to get certain items, but I anticipate it being very rare.

I still wanna be able to buy entire booster sets for 10$ because I end up using nearly every piece.
I interpret it differently.. to me, "Complete Magic Costume Set" means "all of the costume pieces you got in the Magic Pack". Which includes Witch, Magic Bolero, Baron/whatever the male parts are called, High Collar Capes, and so on. He didn't say "The Entire Witch Costume Set from the Magic Pack." If he had named a specific portion of the costume set, I would probably agree, but at the moment I think $5 (or whatever the final price ends up being) is going to get you all of the costume pieces that you have access to through the Magic Pack.

I too intend to purchase everything. Even for sets that I don't feel I will use, or even actively dislike. I really dislike the major costume pieces in the Cyborg pack. Torso, chest detail, gloves, legs, boots - I hate them all and don't use them on any characters. But I bought the pack the day it came out anyway, and I don't regret it. I'm not overly thrilled with the Defensive costume set; it looks a lot like some of the costume sets we already have in the game. But I'm going to buy them anyway, because NOT having access to something in the game, even if I don't want to use it, is NOT an option for me.

But even still I'm not worried. I get the equivalent of $5 per month in free points to spend on new costume pieces, and I'm fairly confident with the prices listed that if I spend an additional $20-30 per year (as I have in recent years on booster packs), I will still be able to unlock everything they release.

[I'm not sure what you mean by "that's a little bland", but I'm assuming you meant "that's a little vague."]

To quote part of Ghost Falcon's post:

"Points * Dollar Equivalent * Item
400........$5.00......................Complete Magic Costume Set (from the Magic Pack)"

So you can buy all of the costume pieces from the Magic Pack for $5, which means the costume change emotes and the Mystic Fortune power may/will probably make up the other $4.99 of the usual $9.99 value. Maybe other costume sets will be more or less, but as a bundle $5 for all of the costume pieces from a given pack sounds pretty darned good to me!
