  1. I will definitely say katana/wp. Super Reflexes does not level as well as will power.
  2. I would like to see Bill PvP against Umbral.

Either way, since defense-based toons are far less common, many people are not building to counter them as much so, with lots of defense, /SR can get some good mileage. I'd recommend SS/SJ/Aid Self/Stamina. Phase is nifty, but hardly needed and is available in so many temporary forms (Hyper Phase, Ethereal Shift, etc, pick your poison), so why bother picking up the actual power unless you're doing arena fights with temporary powers turned off? Also remember, there is no defense soft-cap in PvP. And DR will hit pretty hard. 45% defense = about 33% defense. Though you still have elusivity, but I have no clue if you can even get the real numbers on that.

Regen is pretty tough, but you either need to kite or hit hard enough to make the opponent back off to win, unless their damage just sucks. Regens can be taken out by pressure since passive regen pretty much shuts off when PvP travel suppression kicks in. I don't know if you lose everything even with IH on, but I wouldn't be surprised. So, you'll want additional resistances (such as Tough) to make up for your squishiness, as during times you're pressured constantly and can't break the enemy's constant attacks for a few seconds, you could die pretty easily without 'em. Anyone who significantly debuffs recharge and regeneration (Rad Emission and Kinetics, for example) will tear you a new one if they're any good. For a Regen, I'd say SS/SJ/Tough/Stamina, though if your endurance is good or you just take Physical Perfection, swap Stamina for Tactics so you'll have at least some perception.

And finally, Fire Melee is nice and strong, but you really need to watch out for offensive toggles if you don't pick up an APP/temporary mez. You can't shut them off. So, if a Rad or Dark drops toggles on you, for example, regardless of your secondary your day will be pretty ruined. If you want an APP mez, I'd go for Char since it's miles superior to Petrifying Gaze. That and the Dark APP kind of sucks for PvP anyway.
I took Tough and it made very very little difference in my survival and I had it for a few months.

I wouldn't even bother with Blaze mastery, you need Targetting Drone as well as web grenade. That To hit is absolutely necessary in PvP.

But the numbers are so small I don't know if its worth it. I guess if the stun protection actually helps I'll take it.
Here is my PvP build I could probably stand to lose some recharge and get more +hp lol

I'd really like to peer into the mind of the developers and try to figure out their thought process on a lot of these sets. Its almost as if they woke up one day and decided they were going to create some caddywhompus set that is Spines lol.

I know you have to be killing lvl 50 baddies to get the purple drops, and i do, that's mostly all i kill, lvl 50+ but i don't get the same drop rate for purples as others. I do at least one ITF a week, and when i do someone on the team always gets a purple recipie, but never me. I heard someone say you get one every 12,000 kills or so, so I started counting. I got up over 15,000 without looting one, and i stopped counting there. i've probably killed more than twice as many since i stopped counting, and still nada. I have 12 lvl 50 toons, and since the invention of purples, i have looted 4, and all of those were near the begining of when they were first available. My wife, 40 month vet, has gotten 4 in the last 3 weeks. I have looted 1 pvp recipie since they came out, and again, that was near the begining of when they were available.

was just wondering if it's just me? am i doing something wrong, or have i just fallen through the cracks?

    What do ya'll think?

    Thanks,
    Z
PvP and Superior drop rates are like the black plague. There isn't an exact rhyme or reason they drop the rate they do, one moment you will get 3 in a row and the next you won't get one for a few months.

I really wish that Castle would understand that if you want to dangle a carrot in front of someone you have to make it more obtainable than it currently is. I wish I could data mine to see the amount of repeat and new people PvPing on freedom before and after the introduction of PvP recipes to see if they actually make any impact on the population.
  7. Definitely go with Regeneration, a good player 1vs1 will not lose to any other melee ATs. Ranged ATs are another story all together, thermal, cold, and electric corruptors and dominators are to be feared
  8. I could deal with Spines losing its slows, I'd much rather it keep its toxic DoT as well as Impale's immobilize its very handy. On the other hand I'd be willing to lose Impale's immobilize for higher single target damage

If you want scrappers to have everything, its only fair the other sets get it too.
I don't see why they wouldn't give any of those power sets to other ATs
  11. I'd like to see an example of another set that wouldn't be directly portable to scrappers due to it being over powered.

The problem with Super Strength is really that they would need to tweak the animation times on many of the powers to get it balanced around properly.

You'd be amazed how much players can help out the devs if they actually use analysis and precedent rather than simply blithely stating numbers with vague reasoning. I'm more than confident that we, the players, could speed up a lot of the work of proliferating sets by helping the devs address the problems that are preventing proliferation in the first place.
You should just go and get a CS or SE degree and go work for NCSoft
  16. No one is telling you that you can't play a claws/invul, what we're saying is that you are going to have very disappointing results.

Also if you want help with a PvP build I'd suggest going to the PvP section because most people on the scrapper boards don't PvP.
  17. The problem I had with going ranged defense was the complete lack of recharge. I had only 30ish% global recharge bonus and couldn't get to the soft cap. With my S/L defense I have 60% recharge and soft capped defenses. Usually if I rush I die but if I pop a break free hold the bosses flash freeze the group knock out the bosses and then drop ice patch and storm and then hop out throw down a shiver and then frost breath most of the group is dead and then I just mop up the rest.
  18. I've been soloing +0 x8 for a few days now, it's been rough but I've been up against Carnies and they're mostly AoE and Psi so there goes my pretty new build lol.

Thats what I thought, I just wish Castle had more people power in order to tackle all of the power sets at once.

You're asking a HUGE favor of us here. First of all, we'd need to come up with a competent PvP build for a horrible powerset combination (PvP wise, that is). This wouldn't be a problem if someone actually played a Claws/Inv in PvP and had a build ready, just waiting to be posted, but because that's not the case... Second, you want us to take it off of Mid's and make it into a spreadsheet, just for you? Nice. Want it on a silver plate, too?

You should at least listen to what other people have said on the PvP forums, give it a try and then post what you've come up with for criticism. This is the common method for everyone.

Trust me, if I had a good PvP build for Claws/Inv saved on Mid's, I'd post it here.
Can I get one of those while you're at it?
