I LOVE the concept, but in execution it's falling short. I was having some issues getting the powers to activate, so I reduced the AV down to just Rad Infection and Earthquake. The infection was deactivating in under 10 seconds, and the earthquake wasn't firing at all.
-
I'm trying to build an AV designed to take down a character who is soft-defense capped. Any suggestions? In the approaches I've tried, the debuffs take too long to stack.
-
Hmm... a good idea but it didn't quite work. I tried it and 8 AVs spawned. Seems to be dictated by team size. Any other thoughts? I've pretty much narrowed down the powersets for two AVs, but I can't seem to spawn them close together reliably.
-
I'm trying to make an AV encounter that's intended to be on the challenging side (basically, as hard as it can be). It's part of a plotline, so the powersets are somewhat restricted. Any of the Psi/Mental sets or Fire sets will do.
Ideally, I'd like to have both Fire and Mental elements to this AV. Baring that, is it possible to have two specific AVs guaranteed to be spawned near enough together to be difficult to fight individually? In that case, I could split the Mental and Fire components into 2 AVs and also include any of the natural-looking tanker or melee sets.
Any advice would be appreciated. I'm trying to make an encounter that'd be hard for an IO'd Invul or Shield tank. -
I'm making a shield tank, but the rest is up in the air. I'm trying to maximize my DPS. The only limits I have are:
- Good defense, preferably soft-capped
- No sets. Just IOs for now.
- Must have a travel power
- Shouldn't have much end trouble
I realize by not using sets I'm already limiting myself a good deal, but I want a budget build. I can always invest more influence later.
Tanks are new to me. Given these limitations, what is my best choice for a high-DPS secondary? And example builds or suggestions on powers would be appreciated. Thanks! -
I've got a base that I'm thinking of changing the plot from hidden to secure, simply for the added energy and control. It's an RP base, with a LOT of object collisions. Are all the collision rules disabled on secure plots, or will upgrading break my base?

Name: The Codex
Currently Recruiting: We are always welcome to new members of all skill levels.
RP Level: We are a heavy RP supergroup with an ongoing plotline. Both the SG and coalition channels are IC. We have an active OOC channel as well to form teams and chat in general.
PvP Level: Casual
Theme/Concept: A secret society who works in relative anonimity to subtly shift the balance of power. The Paragon chapter is one of several around the world, all dedicated to making the world a better place through precise, critical strikes. Few outside the Codex know that the group exists - or at least that's how it should be. Recently, outside forces have begun to circle in on the group, and it is up to the members to unravel the mystery of their origins before they are exposed to the world... or worse.
Activity: We have 40-50 characters from about 25-30 players. Our playerbase is multi-national, from the UK, Canada, the US, Australia and Japan, so there is usually someone on most times of the day.
Requirements for Membership: Must be interested in RP and willing to take initiative. If you're interested, fill out an application on our site. Be sure to read the format, as it's a rather unique application.
Leadership: Phaize, Tipscout, Kitai and Katarina Ivanov
In-Game Contact(s): @sadronmeldir, @Lion-Hearted, @jupejuperocket and @sethra-lavode
Out-of-Game Contact(s): GuildPortal mail. Check our site for details.
URL: www.CodexHeroes.com
Coalition(s): The Codex is a member of a closed IC coalition.
Other Details: We have a fully functional base and schedule weekly events.
The Codex encourages new members to get involved in ongoing RP. While forum use isn't mandatory, it is heavily encouraged as many events and meetups are scheduled there. We offer players promotion opportunities through RP and team commitment. -
It's time for the new hero SG listing for the Virture server for July 2009 to February 2010. It's the same as before, folks... simply quote the template below and fill it for your supergroup. Some of the sections listed might not pertain to ever group, so feel free to delete those. I'm working off the time-tested template Grae graciously provided us with last time around, but if there's any section you'd like to see that's missing, feel free to PM me.

/signed for the reasons stated.
Novelty costume pieces I can understand being part of a microtransaction. A pair of gloves or a jacket of higher calibre than the original options doesn't generally restrict players from making a character, but simply allows newer options for those willing to pay the extra dollar.
However, changing the height of a character is something that's been long requested by the player base. It does NOT apply strictly to the science origins. The fact this booster is somewhat lacking in terms of creative costume pieces and actual powers makes me suspect that the more fundamental aspect of the height slider was tacked on to "force" more people into buying it, even if they've no interest in anything else in the set.
Not to get off-topic, but when the game was released, issues had real weight to them. Just go back and look at the amount of content given during the original issues. Now the game is beginning to turn every new feature into a microtransaction, on top of billing us monthly and expecting us to buy a new full expansion in the near future.
I like CoH as much as the next person and will most likely buy the booster and the expansion, but if NCSoft is determined to charge us at every turn while providing less and less content for free then I think they run the risk of losing a lot of their market when other superhero MMOs begin to surface. -
Hey all!
I've been working on a short mission for my SG, the Codex. Intended as an initiation trial that we can bring members of all levels on, it's a one-mission arc featuring a meeting with Dr. Aeon (as well as an unwelcome third party!).
I'm trying to work out a few things. First off, I'm not sure if the plot is intuitive enough from the in-mission dialogue. Also, I'm not sure if Dr. Aeon's dialogue is eccentric enough to fit the character.
The mission itself can be played in short order, so it won't take long. For those that playtest it and leave constructive comments with a favorable review, I'll gladly playtest one of your arcs and recommend it to our other members. Just leave the arc ID in the comments and I'll give it a look. The arc is #197711.
Thanks in advance for the help!

I've been wanting to do more Hami raids, but I'm never sure who to bring. For those that do this frequently, which would be more useful: a Claws/SR scrapper or an Ill/Kin controller?
-
I plan to template it, I'm just thinking a bit on the best approach. It should be up within the week with any luck
-
Testing out a new calendar system at the bottom of the Codex page. If it works out, I'll be making it into a template.
-
Thanks so much! I put a lot of time into making her page fun and different. I'd really encourage more people to check out tatious's DA page.
-
tatious was kind enough to finish two more pieces for me to trick out Julie's VirtueVerse page.
She did such an awesome job! Check out these two:
Julie #2
Julie #3
If anyone is interested, I highly recommend getting a few commissions from her. She's fast, enjoys the work and reasonably priced! -
I created a new template for those interested in adding a little color to their sections on friends and foes...
Behold, the AllyBox! -
Off-topic, but I fiddled with Eisregan's HeroBox to make it more cusomizable. Check out the ColoredHeroBox if you're curious.
-
Oh man! Cyphre's gonna love that. Nice work as usual, Juggertha!
-
Thanks! She's one of my favorite characters, and Tatious captured her well. I'm very pleased.
-
tatious just did a wonderful color sketch of my ex-Carnie, Julie! I love the style of it... it's perfect for a carefree character and captured the pose wonderfully. Check it out here !
The artist is doing cheap commissions and I'd suggest looking her up if you want one done.
If anyone's curious about Jules, check out her VirtueVerse page. I haven't played her much recently, but she should be aorund more. If anyone wants to chill with a carnie, leave me a note here or in-game. -
gammaknight did an awesome job with a commission for our supergroup, the Codex.
Check it out here . Many thanks, gammaknight! -
Sure thing!
Basically, the goal of the game it to design a complete costume using these five colors . All five need to be used at least once.
We prefer seeing black and gray for the chest and legs, but anything goes. Use the five in any way you like to come up with something original. Bios, backstories or clever character names are appreciated but not mandatory.
At the end, we'll take our favorite and let you vote on the winner.
If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.
