If you wanted an "animal melee" set... I would think it's not too far fetched.
There's plenty of super heroes that use animal powers. From just having claws/teeth to using a spirit or totem animal/s.
Make a set that caters to all of that.
Shouldn't be too hard. The way wings(and soon tails) were implemented they move based on what animation you're doing at the time. You just have to add in some triggers in the attacks.
Make the whole set have the effect of... say, a glowing replica of the body part you're using to attack. "Bear Maul" makes big paws appear over your hands. "Alligator snap" makes teeth/head. Then you just add in a wing and tail power that generate glowing wings/tails.
The basic implication being that it's the "spirit" of the animal that is attacking. Or that you're mimicking their movements. But if you allow for power customization... you just have to give us the option of turning off the "totem" effect and we're just left with basic animal-like attacks. More to the point, remove the effect from a wing/tail attack. And if you have the correct body part, it will appear to do the attack it self.
That makes sense, right? -
I like the new Forum PvP they're adding in Issue 17

Personally, I'd like a big giant tail/s. Not the little anemic dangly thinges we have now. Something I could use to sweep my foes off their feet with. I have an obvious preference for lizard/dino tails as evidenced by my handle.
But my IRL surname is Fox, no joke. All the rules of comic books as I know them tell me that at some point... I shall adopt a heroic alternate identity and gain powers related to the orange rascals or related to the concept that foxes evoke.
...So...
...Yeah...
Bushy tails too plz?
Please... think of all the irradiated foxes I've tried to get to bite me. -
I guess if there's a badge for healing, a badge for doing damage, a badge for exploring, a badge for taking damage, a badge for arresting X mob type, a badge for selling, a badge for buying, a badge for--
Etc.
Makes sense to have a a badge for badges, I guess?
I just want a list of badge names -

Am I reading it wrong or does the Pax Website say they're out of Saturday passes? The Pre-reg has 3-day and Saturday crossed out. Which I get.
But so is the "At the door" price. Crossed out that is.
I can't pre-register for the day of the panel but I also can't go to the door to pick up a ticket?
This is the first time I might, maybe, be able to make a Con. As a both a Marylander and... well, poor. I don't get many chances to go to cons. This one is within driving distance (7 hours still counts)
I hope I didn't miss my chance -
Hmm, I like it. But it feels like there's too many MA attacks in there? Maybe replace one of the first two with something else? I know, I know. Energy Manip has about as many. But the REST of that set is just build up like powers and a melee stun. Your Martial set is fairly control heavy.
It might be too much to have both heavy melee and control in one set. ...Or maybe I'm misjudging it *shrug.*
Personally, I'd throw in something unique. They've been rather stingy with the Placates, so blasters might be banned from having them. So. drop that and replace it with... Click, maybe toggle, that drains recharge/speed from foes and gives Blaster +speed/recharge per target. ie. a bullet time power. Comparable to Consume or that Mental power that drains end/regen. -

Quote:It's been mentioned that they will be able to; they just won't be able to start in Praetoria. Same for Kheldians.
I was hoping they'd let us make them part of Pretoria. A Widow ends up being a Seer. The Solders end up being part of the Praetorian Guard, etc. Give them their own arcs. And have them eventually leaving and deciding to join the local closest approximation(Arachnos) Or give it up and be a hero. I'd likely give them their own non-arachnos costume bits and let the rest get unlocked later.
As for the Kheldians. I could see them being locked up underground, used as slave labor or maybe just stuck in giant tubes to be drained to help fuel the city. Breaking out and joining the rebellion or helping the State toss their former friends/family into the fire.
At least, that was my thought... I guess if they want each side to have it's own Epic classes, that's cool too -
Quote:This is the correct answer. There are no baby Rikti; they are changed in childhood at some point. That is why humans are referred to as the "birth form" in a few arcs.Quote:NOW that comment makes sense. I'm sure I knew that, it just didn't all click before.
Ahh yes. I'd forgotten about that.
Man there's a lot of lore to this game. -
Mmm, here's how I see it.
Natural = Your birth, growth and development have followed the norms of your species. You have no severe genetic abnormalities. You were never altered in any way from the way you were born. Any powers or abilities you developed are considered within the acceptable range of normality for your species.
Mutant = You have deviated from the norm of your species by random act of evolution. This change might manifest later in life, but it was inside you from the moment you born. You were never altered in anyway. Never experimented on. You just were born different.
Science = You were altered from whatever you were born as by the powers of SCIENCE.
Ok, that last one is a little weak. Let me go with an example. The Rikti. People here debated what Origin the Rikti are. Mutant or Science. I would also propose "Natural" as an option here. Now, here me out. This all hinges on what defines a species. As I recall, it's the ability to breed amongst themselves. The Rikti's origin depends on how they reproduce then.
If they are born human and then altered in the womb/giant floaty tubes by the Lost mutagen. Then they are Science.
If they are natrual born Rikti. As in, Mommy Rikti + daddy Rikti = Baby Rikti. Then they're Natural.
And... I don't really know how you'd consider them Mutants. Mutants in this game rely on a quark of genetics to spark your powers. But that can't account for an entire RACE. Unless everyone of them had human parents and then developed identical mutations.
Yes, they WERE altered humans. But that was generations ago. At some point, you have to consider them their own species. You're not really a mutated human if your great-great-great-grandparents were the same as you. All the way down.
Now, of course. If we're going by where they get their POWERS from. Same deal. If radiation/psychic powers are within the norm for the species. It's natural. If we're only seeing the "heroes" of their world that developed mutations that caused their normal powers to go WAY beyond the norm. Well, that's Mutant. And lastly, if they're being altered to be faster/stronger/more psychic/etc. Then it's science.
It's really up the Manticore to deliver on some lore.
It should be noted however. According to CoH lore. There was no mutants before the atom was split. Apparently the act of a sentient being spiting an atom(Note, dogs and cats didn't develop powers(much)) And there's atoms being split all the time even inside the core of the Earth or in the upper-atmosphere. It was the act of a HUMAN splitting an atom that did something.
I doubt their point was that it caused world-wide genetic damage from radiation poisoning. More like... it upset some fundamental law of probability.
Under that reasoning, I don't consider it to have much of an impact on the lore of characters. At least until they friggin' explain themselves more. -

Quote:Unfortunately the link in this bit points directly to the US version of the pack, and I've got used to websites giving prices in dollars enough that it didn't occur to me there would be a seperate EU version until after it wouldn't let me apply it...
Oops.
Any idea what I do now? :/
Give one of your American friends the code and buy and EU one?
...I'll be happy to take it off your hands -

Quote:So why exactly did you not reach that conclusion the first time you turned on a flight power and realized that you weren't jogging through the air?
Oh, also. Because you HAD to put flying into the game. You didn't have to put walking in.
Now that we know you're willing to spend your spare animator time doing pointless things to please RPers... -
Quote:So why exactly did you not reach that conclusion the first time you turned on a flight power and realized that you weren't jogging through the air?
Because Walking and flying aren't the same thing. DUH
I mean, in one you're walking... and the other, you're flying!! -
Oh! Don't forget clockwork or steampunk guns
-
Quote:The idea is, if you can replace the basic walk animation with... well, a walk animation. You can do the same with other types of walk.*warily* I'm not sure how you reached that conclusion...
There's a large audience for a "beast" walk. Rather, a beast RUN to replace sprint/super speed.
Now that we know you can replace the basic movement animation. WE DEMAND MORE MOVEMENT ANIMATIONS.
Get on that.(I command you) -
Walther P38
Old German gun. Good for WWII characters, and we all know more NAZI characters are a good things.
Also Megatron was one.
Beyond that, I would ask you include some "elemental" guns. They don't have to look like silly ray-guns, not at all. But if you're allowing for ice/fire/acid bullets. I would request some ice/fire/acid motif guns. Now I can't actually FIND any guns like that. But... you can use your imagination. Gun with little icicles hanging off it, snow flakes on the sides. Flowing/dripy design for an acid one. A glock with flame stickers on it!
Ok, maybe not on the last one. But you get the idea. In the proud tradition of theme characters, theme weapons to go along with them. In addition to fire/ice/acid, you could throw in some animals. Barrel of the gun shaped like the animal with it's mouth open(where the bullets come out). Bear, snake, eagle, wolf, etc.
You know, I'm really not finding any pictures non-gun guns... And for the record, don't google "bear pistol" images without the safety on. yeesh
Not what I was looking for but here's some others I found digging around on the net. Some are obviously copyrighted, I assume you won't just outright steal these. But maybe they'll give you some ideas for other unique pistols.

Quote:I think what the others, and BAB, are trying to say is.Pretty well I think. I don't think the entire fate of NCWest is in the hands of GR at all. But I do think NCSoft expect teams & products to return dividends, and if GR doesn't do as well as they are projecting then the development team well may be cut down a bit (or simply reassigned to other products of course). I'm not in the least saying "NCSoft never gave Auto Assault or Tabula Rasa a chance", I'm saying they've shown that they will make tough business decisions if a product doesn't give an expected return
Also, based on what happened with NCSoft Europe and people like Rockjaw sometimes the decisions that have come down from on high have surprised people who you'd expect to be "in the know". In other words much as I respect BaBs as a Developer (and love his posts) I know that in no way would he have details of the high level business & product decisions that NCSoft may make in relation to products he is working on based on returns from that product. (in other words *IF* GR doesn't do as well as expected and NCSoft do announce a cut back on the development team then that development team may well find out when we do).
Note that none of this is particularly DOOM material. I'm just saying that (a) NCSoft have shown in the past they they will make hard decisions if a product doesn't deliver expected results and (b) Devs / Mods working on such products may not have details of the inner workings of business decisions made at the higher levels (which is basically what BaBs himself says 5 posts up).
Even if GR flops majorly. NCsoft as shown they're willing to pour money into a money hole of even games that were worse off then CoH could be with a major expansion flopping. Even if we end up with egg on our face NCsoft will clean us off and send us out for another round or two before throwing in the towel.
I have no doubt they WOULD throw it in if things were bleak AND they gave us a few tries to recover.
But we're not there yet. CoH is plenty healthy. GR failing wouldn't be enough to put us into Doomtown.
Or that's what I'm getting from BAB and other people that I'm too lazy to scroll up and read the names of. -
