How could Statesman be dead and a chump like Synapse still be alive? -
A provider of a service has the right to price that service at whatever they like. A consumer has a right not purchase the service if they don't like the price.
This is pretty much a fundamental cornerstone of capitalism. The only time law would interfer would be specific anti-gouging laws or fraud, neither of which would apply here. -
Are the Snaptooth/Lady Winter missions available?
-
Yep, it's a global problem.

Regardless of the order, this is a good reading list.

Good luck, sir. You've been a good teammate when we've had the opportunity, hope you come back sometime!

They fixed the "Transfusion fires off a dying NPC, but no one gets healed" bug.

...at least one time a week you hear a phrase and say "that would be a great name for a new alt".

Sign me up for the Redside WTF -- probably on Molm Reindar, Claws/WP Stalker. Don't know if I'll be able to stay awake for the Blueside, but we'll see.

Quote:Eventually the conceit does fall apart, but Superman isn't the only super-hero who has this problem. The Flash, given his demonstrated power levels, could probably stop all crime on Earth if he wants to.One of the problems I have with the concept is that he seems to be a super-hypocrite. Watching the recent Superman movie, tbere's this awesome s ene where he's floating in space usig his superheaing to hear what lloks like EVERYTHING on Earth, and then when he's sat in a bar being all emo, I'm shouting "surely you can hear some poor sod gettig murdered or tortured somewhere within flying distance, right now, and you're ignoring it, you massive tool?"
If he's so morally awesome, surely he should just spend every waking hour flying around the planet at superspeed saving people from burning buildigs and cave-ins and murderous spouses etc? Or else he can hear that "my baby! Somebody save my baby, please!" and he chooses to not do so, in which case if he's not really a super-b***tard then he should be either insane or an emotional wreck.

This is where a reader needs to put up a some degree of willing-suspension-of-disbelief. That it's important that Superman gets some "down time" as Clark Kent, that he maintains his contact with his friends, that he tools around in the Fortress of Solitude, etc. -
Quote:God-Emperor rocked.Woot! Someone else that liked God Emperor? I happen to like the two books after it as well. And yes, *waves hand across own eyes* "There are no prequels."
[edit: Can't remember exactly what I voted for, it was earlier today. I know Dune & WoT were in there. Snow Crash maybe.] -
Quote:First off, Superman hasn't been able to "push a planet around" since 1985 or so.I meant that because he's so powerful, it must be difficult for the writers to come up with foes he'd believsbly have a problem with. Lex is just a guy, right? Can't Supes just implacably walk to wherever he is, pick him up and take him to prison? Or does every villain wear a kryptonite hat nowadays?
Eco
Superman is powerful, but he's not All-Powerful. He's just one guy, and he has a pretty strict moral code preventing him from killing anyone.
So good writers give him challenges where he has to make choices, or against foes that have done their research on him. Yes, sometimes that means facing down kryptonite, or red sun lamps, or magic. But sometimes it means do I save this person or that person?
In the last big Superman-centric event I read, "The Last Son of Krypton", the bottled city of Khandor was finally restored, and suddenly there was 500,000 Kryptonians living on Earth. Naturally, not all of them shared Superman's moral code, and relations between human and Kryptonians became strained, with Superman in the middle. I felt that was an extremely good scenario to place Superman; he seldom could overcome the problem with his fists.
Superman has actually had some really good writers the last several years -- Rucka, Simone, Johns, Robinson, Busiek -- and they've crafted good stories (note: I got out before JMS's run, I know nothing about "Grounded"). The important thing with Superman is that he's not just a collection of superpowers. -
I love Green Lantern and support a sequel.
To make it even better, I suggest new writers, a new director, and recasting the male and female leads. -
1. Ghost Widow. Just a beautifully executed look. Others have said it better.
2. Statesman. It's very clear why he was created; to embody the concept of "hero" without being too derivative of more famous (and copyrighted) characters.
3. Mirror Spirit and Foreshadow. Very distinctive, wish they were featured more. -
Quote:Thanks for the link. Yes, the review itself wasn't that bad, but that line is horrible.I actually kind of agree with the review itself which isn't really all that terribly negative and mostly boils down to, "It's a good rental." That bit there's just a line from the 'brief plot synopsis' bullet point of the review. And actually when you think about it it's actually a fairly decent one. I mean it's the actors for James Bond and Indiana Jones, the aliens do kind of look cave troll-ish, and their space ship does the same general 'thing' as the Black Fortress ... well not the whole disappear and reappear in different spots every morning thing but still.
The character Craig plays is nothing like James Bond.
The character Ford plays is nothing like Indiana Jones.
The aliens have nothing in common with cave trolls, except for a slight similarity around the face.
The alien's ship and the Black Fortress share even fewer similarities than the aliens and cave trolls.
It's a line designed to amuse, not inform. -
I just got back. I had no expectations, but I loved it. Very fun movie.
Quote:Ah, the Internet. Why be truthful when you can be pithy?James Bond and Indiana Jones team up to fight cave trolls from Lord of the Rings who've come to Earth in the Black Fortress from Krull. -

You either read it wrong, or got bad info. It will be a secondary for Controllers.

As long as during the TF is gives you the moral option to either Just Say Yes or Just Say Not to Superidine, I'm cool with it.
