No it won't. You (your team) have to do 20% of the damage to the giant monster (I believe) in order to recieve a badge. This is to prevent someone flying overhead, zapping one hit on the monster, and then leaving and getting the badge.
No risk, no reward.
As to the OP, yeah, you should have asked for an invite into the team. For every monster I've helped with, I've received a badge just because I join teams every single time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, so I was a little off. I figured that there would be some protection to prevent a player from shooting once and moving on.
But I know that more than one team can get the badge for a giant monster. And even if it is the 20% like you said, that's nowhere near the majority of the damage.
Of course, it's always better to get on a team for these kinds of fights. -

Since the badge system doesn't award everyone who fights with a badge, only the person or team that does the most damage, which makes fighting Jack and others an every man for himself deal, unlike Luska and the Paladin construction,

Where do people get this stuff?

On the internet. And you know if it is there, it is true!

Aaah, The Internet. A most wretched hive of scum and villainy.

The only things that do not award a badge to everyone are regular monsters like the Synapse Task Force version of Babbage. Otherwise all giant monsters will give badges to everyone who paticipates as long as they do damage, or are on a damage dealing team. -

It would be nice if Issue 5 had a new Accolade or two.

The opinion I have of stealth is that it is a defensive power. I agree that once you attack you should be seen by the enemies you're attacking, since obviously they know you are there. The problem is that I don't think everyone in the room should see you.
Part of the strategic use of stealth is to get into a position where you only aggro one group and thus are not destroyed by an entire room of baddies. For a blaster or other ranged toon this is okay, but this does not work for a melee player. If I'm a scrapper and use stealth to get close to a group before attacking I want to be able to only be attacked by that group. I was to take out groups one by one and not worry about the guys halfway across the room aggroing me and attacking. Right now, once I attack I might as well not have taken stealth at all.
Also, the general theory of all the power pool powers is that the first two are generally made for in combat use. Hover, Combat Jumping, Hasten, Teleport Foe, and the like. Stealth is the same way. Obviously you cannot attack while using Invisibility, but stealth is designed to be used in combat. Right now, it's combat effectivness is nil. It doesn't add anything to combat and just drains end.
My suggestion if the changes aren't to be rolled back completely is to just reduce the amount of stealth after you attack. That way you are still visible by the immediate group you are fighting, but you have less chance that the other groups will aggro you.
The way I perceive stealth during combat is kind of along the lines of you sneaking into a group, taking down one guy which alerts the group that there is an enemy, but because of your stealth skills you are able to hide amongst the confusion and prevent that group from alerting they're friends. You are obviously known to be there, but still able to somewhat remain unseen. -
Just saw this on the Training Room forum, thought it was a good idea and belonged here.

Anyway, my first suggestion is for the dev's to consider just adding code to prevent debuffs from the same caster from stacking (we already have same caster buff stacking blocked).
Why? So they don't have to put obscene recharge times on powers like glue arrow (30 sec duration, 120 sec recharge, no duration slotting possible - so 6 recharges + hasten + AM required to have it "perma" or available almost whenever you need it) and tar pit to prevent the stacking. Toggle debuffs (rad, storm, sonic) are up pretty much whenever you need them and can be removed and reapplied as necessary.
I can see not wanting to allow huge patches of land to be arrowed/tar pitted so my second suggestion is this:
These things are basically pets - make them function just like the new pets - if you cast a new one, the old one goes away, otherwise it lasts for the full duration. I would much rather have a quick recharging power that I can use WHEN I need it as the flow of battle changes, not a power that I have to be extra careful and strategic about choosing when to use it because it is only available every 3rd battle or so. I can see this for nukes, but not for STAPLE defender debuffs.
Please consider this devs - you want this to be a fun game accessible to the common gamer right? Well, staple powers available at level 4 (AM aside, which can be perma'd with slotting - this kind of thing is fine) should be available for frequent use. Otherwise it is just not "fun".

I guess I made most of my general Archery comments in the other thread, but I will post some here too.
The Ice Arrow animation is a little weird, the formation of the ice and the hlding of the villian doesn't seem to coincide with when the arrow appears to hit.
I do believe that this would make an excellent blaster secondary as the powers are very much akin to the devices line. I know a lot of players would love to play as an archery blaster with both primaries and secondaries, because as a TA/Archery defender I definately feel more like a blaster than a defender because of the nature of the secondary. -
Overall I like the set.
I enjoy the sounds and I like the animations. -

I can sympathize. I grew up in Fargo, ND and now like about an hour away in Jamestown ND. Anytime I mention that fact, I get the response "I loved the movie Fargo!" Man does that piss me off. First, the movie was filmed mostly in Minnesota about 3 hours from Fargo, and secondly, no we don't talk like that. People from tiny little farming communities have a tendency to speak like that at times, but for the most part we speak pretty normally.

Would it make you feel better to tell you I've never seen the movie?
Edit: wow my typing is really off today /em blush

The hell you don't. :P
Cracks me up everytime I have to talk to anyone from anywhere near that area, or Wisconsin, or Minnesota.
Dontcha know.

Oh, there are definately a few, but it's not as common as many people think. I have never heard someone from a "city" like Fargo say something like "dontcha know" or "you betcha" I do know that Wisconsin is pretty bad, and the more rural you get, the worse it is. -

What the HELL are you talking about??!?!?! That was a DOCUMENTARY. Brilliantly done. Verbatim about what happened. I can't believe they found actual video footage of all of that in such great detail.
I just wish the guy documenting all of this would have helped out once in awhile...but I guess if he was a true historian, he didn't want to alter any outcomes.

ARRRGHHH...
That film drives me nuts, especially when whoever I'm playing with, when they find out Im Scottish, immediately says, "I liked Braveheart".
NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo....
I live not 100 yards from Stirling Bridge, where was the bridge in the film... WHERE WAS THE HUGE SWAMP IN THE FILM!!!
<pant, pant, pant>
Sorry, but gah!
Anyway back on topic...
I'm fairly sure North America (And I suppose Canada from the maps they showed at the time) didn't fight off an invasion of Snow-man like creatures recently...
(Or maybe the Canadians did... damn PLed hockey players!)
Egor.

Are you using an ATI card?
If so, did you have to do anything special?
Please let me know if you have CoH working in linux on an ATI card -
Now the real question is:
Have any of you managed to get CoH running on Linux using 3D acceleration and an ATI video card?
I know that has been the biggest problem and the only thing that is stopping me from switching to Linux completely.
