    Anyway, more from the event:
PAX East 2010 - CITY OF HEROES - Text Blob

    Some highlights:
    • Tails now move, you can send image attachments inside the in-game mail.
    • And now there are Doppelgangers, enemies that are yourself!
      • They can have a color swap, or have the same exact costume, and every character or party will have their own different missions with doppelgangers
    • There are Brand-new zones, Nova Praetoria, Imperial City, Neutropolis, and The Underground
    • Kinetic Melee is added for Stalkers, Brutes, Scrappers, and Tankers
    • Electric Control for controllers and dominators
    • Incarnate System will be 10 Incarnate levels
      • the first level will be available in Going Rogue, along with new incarnate abilities
      • Issue 19 will bring 9 more levels and more abilities
    • there are other new powersets "on the whiteboard" that will make it into future expansions, including staff use

I like the look of the Kinetic Melee from the video I saw. It looks *awesome* but slow - and I'm cool with that. Slower attack sets generally have a lot more damage to make up for it. I am trying to imagine an Electric/Kinetic controller in my head, and what it would look like; the answer is all colours of awesome!

Fan of the series but around the end Buffy was buffing vampires and as much as you all hate it, Edward Cullen is the Buffy type.

A kind nice vampire with a somewhat ruthless edge.

Real vampires don't sparkle. Ever. Not even a little.

Okay, just looked again. Whoever quoted 100 Kins might be off...just a tad. Or my math is wrong.

Granite has a -50,000% Jump Height on it.
IR three-slotted for jump height gives a +5534% Jump Height

Essentially, 10 IRs ought to do it (division comes out to 9.03~). Or is Granite mysteriously exempt from the addition/subtraction math of everything else?

Two full teams of kins could probably have him jumping like a super jumper.

I didn't go more than three-slotted for jump due to the desire to keep recharge on IR as low as possible. With everyone SB'ing like nuts, a group of 50's (even with some lowbies mixed in) should be able to get three IRs off before the first IR's bonus fades. Maximizing coverage.

Now, Rooted ALSO applies a -50,000, just double it. 19-20 people.
I am a little confused as to why you want 6 slotted hasten, and a 6 slotted speed boost (slotted for 3 recharge and 3 run speed). 3 slotted hasten is more than enough, given that people are going to be speed boosting each other. As well, why slot speed boost for 3 recharge when it recharges in 2 seconds, and slot 3 run speeds when all it affects is the run/flight speed and has nothing to do with jump?

With regards to having the tank rooted, you can have granite armour on and NOT be rooted, correct? They are two seperate powers, right? I think all we're talking about here is launching a tank in granite armour, not a rooted one as well.

At the '08 Hero-Con, Castle said it would take about 100 stacked IR's.

We should totally be able to make this happen! I bet we wouldnt even need 100 kins - more like 40-50 - with everyone speed boosting, we could get IR's recharge way down and stack it 2 per person...

    We can do this!

    Looks like globals are down.

    So awesome...

Well then, think we can find 52 or 54 kins? Let's get someone airborne! I wanna slingshot a stone tank across Portal Court!

I miss the days when Jello Shooters was actually a Protector channel.
JS is a Protector global channel. If memory serves, it was created by people in the Reincarnated Elite (a Protector supergroup) for communications regarding Protector Hami Raids a long time ago. It had to be a global channel since the only other channels that spanned the server were things like Arena, and *think* yeah, I think there was only arena chat. JS is a Protector channel that happens to be a global channel because it couldn't be done any other way. Rasta knows more about it than anyone, maybe he could add to it and fill in or fix the gaps I've left. Since it was created it's morphed into a Protector chat channel - just because it doesn't have the name Protector means nothing. But I will add this: Once a Protectorite, always a Protectorite (you know who I am lookin at!).

I miss the days when the server actually had spirit, we had a mascot, we had things like Robot Rampage and RP Task Forces (Not my thing, but still thought it was cool), we were a server of doers.
Thanks to Archivist, we still have a mascot! Woot! Badge was the one that organized the Robot Rampages, the Hami Nukes, etc. I don't have the creativity, drive or insanity level to attempt anything like that... and RP is so not my thing. Lots of people are doing good things for the server I find, but it's being communicated via the boards not ingame.

I miss the days when this was a close-knit community.
I think we are still a close-knit community - when one of us is sick, or something bad happens, the outpouring of support is genuine and full of love. I think that the close-knit part is stronger in little cliques obviously, but overall it's closer than most servers I'd wager.

I look around today and is a little saddened. Jello shooters was silent for a good portion of the evening. I see people complaining and I see few stepping up and doing things to better the community. WTH happened to us?
I actually turn off JS when I am doing something like a TF now, because I was spending too much time reading and responding on the channel when I should have been paying attention to the Task at hand.
There's been a few things I've been tossing around in my head as things to do on the server but as I said earlier, I lack the drive and cat-herding insanity to do it... but here are my ideas:

Run organized teams to get the kill badges for accolades: gears, Freak tanks, vampires, werewolves, and of course Fake Nemeses.

Do like Impyre and the rad superteam, but on hero side - except, really, we need more dark defenders, so make it 3Ds. MOAR DARK!

Did we EVER find out how many kinetics' Inertial Reduction we needed to get a granite tank airborne?

Actually, Badge was a myth told by Empaths to scare other people, I think.

And are you INSANE?! You don't mention his name, ever, ever lest he come back! Noooo! It's all your fault!

It was our first encounter with the shadow crystals. Regardless of how over powered we thought we were, we kept getting murdered over and over again. We eventully won, but it was challenging missions like that which I miss. People were complaining they were too hard so of course they were nerfed.
Was that the mission that kept spawning, and spawning the unbound nictus right? We did that when it first came out and then they fixed it? Was that the one? I was thinking about that the other day - that was insane fun.

I think it'd be great if the Devs offered some kind of flash back through Oro to the old school Hami Raid. I'm sure they must still have the code somewhere. I think it'd be great if they reactivated the code for it during a free weekend activation - old friends come back for some old school buttkicking... it'd be awesome.

Some Hami O's aren't great, but others are more than worth the effort it takes to get one. I'd never get rid of the ones I have on my rads or my empath.

  21. Peregrine Island's giant monster - the Goldfish.

Before Oro and Recluse's Victory (for getting the contaminated) there was a rumour that if you died in a mission in the Hollows and rezzed it would put you in Outbreak.

    But mainly the giant goldfish.

Oh, and that the day before Rasta came back, Dank Astoria lost all its smoke cover.

You did not miss the Hami Raid.
  25. I got a dark/dual pistols defender from 1-39. It's a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be.

We did police band missions a lot, then some people swapped out and we did some Maria Jenkins missions, and the push was on to 35 for everyone so we could do the ITF.

Once I got the dark to 35, I swapped to my tank, and did police band missions with people set at +3 and 4 and it was EASY.

Then, we did an almost full clear ITF and I think we all dinged maybe 3 times in there. We had an invul/mace tank (Frosty), a kin/elec defender (Thirsty), a rad/rad defender (Rasta), a dark/dp defender (me), and 3 dual pistol blasters played by Ice, Sooner, and Major T (I think they were energy, devices, and I cannot remember what T's secondary is, sorry!). Anyhow, stuff literally *melted*

Oh yeah, since we are suckers for punishment, during the run to 35 we also did Posi's task force twice.

    What an awesome weekend!
